I like your channel very much, in part because you post infrequently, and don’t create drama in order to attract views. Your videos are many things, especially amusing while giving an update as your lives move forward. You know when to speed up presentation, and when to slow down to savor the countryside or a rewarding moment. The music, the silly pup who will never grow up, the challenges of nature and even the day-to-day of your relationship all shine in their own ways. Many, many thanks for including us in your journey; I hope you’ll have that one, viral video that will grown viewership exponentially! RU-vid needs content more providers like you, not sensationalistic nonsense that doesn’t tell a story or feed the spirit. ❤
It's 3pm New Mexico USA time, so I'm late to the party. I sit with tea and watch every second. For this elderly sick guy who once lived a spell in Japan, and will celebrate 30 years with my Japanese wife in December, I am mesmerized each video posting. While I imagine the vacuum will do quick work on even a large spider, I don't know about the gecko. Oh, and I mustn't leave without thanking you two for a view of the bamboo blowing in the wind. I miss that. Love from the Southwestern USA.
Your videos depress me, but take it as a compliment! I was living in Japan for 8 years and have recently moved back to Aus. Homesick and reverse culture shock now😢
Ahh the yearly spring cleaning,it’s a great opportunity to clean and declutter so as to make more space for the junk we buy this year, ha ha but it’s a great feeling when it’s finished.
I really love your slow, cozy and also educational videos. They are so calming. Perfect to wake up to with a warm cup of tea. Wish you alle the best in the coming year! Excited to see more. PS: Watching Pancake chase the water when you were cleaning the windows was great fun for me and my husband!
Bucolic (adj) - relating to the pleasant aspects of the countryside and country life. maigomika's video journals are a bucolic escape from our everyday lives
I lived in Takamatsu almost all of last year and I just wanted to say thanks for your videos! I watched them when I was on Shikoku and now I watch them, once again, back in the USA. I'm just a bit more bummed out watching them now. Haha Thanks for keeping up with making these. Very nostalgic for me already.
Oh yes, tarp Day 😬. I live off grid in the mountains of central Otago southern New Zealand, so no running water and no electricity either. I have to do a complete clean out twice a year, that's when I take all the stuff out of my tiny house room by room, put it all on a tarp outside and clean, scrub and polish everything 😮💨 no electricity means hand brushing the carpet every week and doing a triple brush on tarp Day 😬 I sympathize 😂
We do that "Big Clean" in the Caribbean as well. It's done around the exact same time in December as well, but we don't call it that. Actually, we don't even have a name for it really. It's just customary lol
I'm 48 but if I were any younger had a partner willing to go with me (and if English were my first language and I could teach it in Japan) I'd do anything to move there for good. The world is going crazy now and most people just want peace, many going off-grid to run away from the insanity of the city life. I've been binge watching every valuable video on Japan I could find and it seems to be a dream come true place to settle in for so many people. Japan is certainly not the land of milk and honey, it has its dark side, too, but it's damn close.
Living off grid isn't all fluffy ducks 😂 cleaning is genuinely horrible, and not having electricity and running water makes it a all day headache especially during the spring and autumn big cleans I call tarp Day 😬 I can see why the vacuum cleaner was invented 😂
Wonderful to see how the cluttered space became clear and organised again. I was worried for a second thinking the shelving unit wasn't going to fit. And when Mika was sitting outside it was easy to see when Jesse was approaching long before he appeared because of Pancake's excitement.
In America, it’s called spring cleaning which I thinks has to do with the days when winter heating was with coal or fuel oil. It would leave the walls and ceiling black with soot
This was really fun to watch~! I wanted to say though that if you paint your window mesh screens black, you will have a much better view out of the window~!
you're home is so cool! I love those vintage kitchen cabinets - and I am so thoroughly impressed by the amount of effort you put in cleaning up! Washing windows is probably my least favourite part of cleaning - but what a deLIGHT it is when it's done! 😱 Lots of love for you and Pancake all the way from Denmark 🤗
you have really mastered the "slice of life" genre. i love all your videos so much. they feel very cozy and real. so glad to see Pancake "helping" you two 😊 thanks for sharing another lovely video! i have enjoyed your all your videos so far ❤
Been watching since around the first or second video and I can't seem to stop myself from coming back and watching more. Your videos genuinely make me happy and its just so relaxing to watch. Honestly it is a dream of mine to move to Japan and do something like what you guys do, but the critters scare me 😂. Cant wait for more videos 😆
Hello Mika, just subscribed your channel! Very intriguing life you and Jessie has in Japan! I live in Texas and have my family in Japan so I visit my family once a year. Enjoy watching your vlogs.
god i remember when our dog was the same age and was shedding like WILD 😂 it depends on breed and sometimes weather but usually around the time puppies enter adolescence they will shed all of their puppy coat and slowly start growing their adult coat. and also our boy did what felt like an entire coat blowout when he turned one year and grew in his final bigboy coat 😂 the first year of owning a puppy is always wild! but also considering that these kinda Inu breeds have double coats, it might be good to invest in a good brush and shampoo to help with the yearly coat changes! :) Panchan seems to be a lovely dog!
I really need to get up and do some of my own cleaning! But it is still snowy and cold here in Peoria, IL, USA. So I guess I can be lazy for a little longer!
1.) Oh man. I bet you slept great that night(s)! Deep cleaning is surprisingly tiring! 2.) I bet having that shelving unit in the hallway brings new life into your home. So much extra space to be used now, and things look so much cleaner. 3.) The Ume Tree will be beautiful ^^
Oh what a wonderful episode! Your cleaning ritual is inspiring and having scenes interspersed with Pancake are sheer perfection.😍 Love that you planted an ume tree-my fav and a lovely harbinger of Spring!🌸❤️
Another very enjoyable watch. I am inspired to adopt the custom, and your video has shown me the true secret to success in domestic cleaning: (1) a list (2) a dog and by far most importantly the one ingredient I am missing: blue coveralls! I really like the outtake where the dog is licking your ear as you try to clean out those cupboards. And as for that giant spider in the hall, I would just ask politely and not at all try to force it to move. That thing’s HUGE.
your videos are all always so neat and tidy. i love your editing and the fact that you provide subtitles just helps me out a lot. it helps us. thank you for uploading as always. we love you.
i binge watched your entire channel in one session. I can not wait for more videos to come! I am glad i stumbled upon your page ♥ kind regards from Germany!
Found you guys a couple days ago and binged your videos! I love your way of presenting and narating your story, your lives, and the way you both find your way living in a new country. Looking forward to future updates~
I absolutely devoured all your videos in one sitting and really love your channel! Great content, awesome house, lovely work! I wish you three all the luck and endurance in the world to keep up such a great story :)
I live in a one room hale / studio with limited storage as well and my stove is in one corner. I recently added two small shelves high above my stove to store my bigger pots and pans and it's changed EVERYTHING for my 3 small kitchen cabinets. Nothing like using your vertical space when floorspace is limited! And after watching this I am so inspired to start my new year cleaning and I'm totally going to put up a panel of peg board on the other wall next to my stove which is still empty. Gotta use that vertical space. Love your videos & happy new year! 🌺 Aloha from Big Island!
