Looking for the best temples in Bagan, Myanmar? We spent 5 days in the ancient city and made it our goal to visit them all! It’s a fact-no image, video, or memory of Bagan, Myanmar can come close to portraying the magic that quite literally smacks you in the face upon arrival. Jaws were dropped, goosebumps were raised, tears were shed-this place is no joke.
We rented e-bikes for 4,000 kyat per person/per day in New Bagan and headed out on a full day, self-guided adventure, stopping off at all of the major players (Thatbyinnyu Temple, Ananda Temple, Dhammayangyi Temple, etc.) while making sure to cruise through the smaller, distant temples that you can claim all to yourselves (the latter was much more our style). Entrance to the historical region costs 25,000 kyat for foreigners, a small fee considering you’re good for 5-day unlimited use. You better believe we used every last day. :)

Hi friends! We’re Braden & Taylor, a newlywed couple from California living with a BAD case of the travel bug. In Fall 2018, we quit our jobs, sold our belongings, and packed two tiny suitcases to find out what it truly means to live life to the fullest. First and foremost, we vlog for ourselves - our channel is a living picture book of the memories we collect over the next months and years around the globe, traveling to over 60 countries by 2020. If there’s a place we haven’t been, it’s on our list!
Secondly, we document our life on the road for family, friends and strangers alike - if our videos help pass on the travel influenza, then we’ve done our job. 😄 We don’t know where this trip will take us, but we promise to ourselves and to you that we will always present both the beautiful and the ugly, because no trip is perfect, and neither is our world. Don’t be shy - send us a shout out when we’re in your area, and be sure to subscribe + hit the bell to be notified of future videos!

BREAKING NEWS: UNESCO has declared Myanmar’s ancient capital of Bagan as a World Heritage Site, nearly a quarter of a century after the complex of Buddhist temples was first nominated for listing. The Myanmar proposal to list the site was approved at a meeting of the U.N.’s cultural body in Baku, Azerbaijan. The decision recognises the importance of the central Myanmar site - which includes more than 3,500 stupas, temples, monasteries and other structures built between the 11th and 13th centuries - and will likely be a boon to Myanmar’s tourist industry. The Myanmar proposal to list the site was approved at a meeting of the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization in Baku, Azerbaijan on Saturday, July 6, 2019.

Oh no! You were supposed to mix the entire plate up! The white powder is ground, roasted peanuts and it's sort of like a binding agent for the dish and also gives the dish a nutty flavor! Great vlogs tho!!

Amazing. Makes me wonder why it was all abandoned. Some say maybe the Mongols invaded and that could account for some of the lost temples. Maybe they just ran out of money from building and the maintaining all those temples.

Not far at all, about 20 minutes by motor bike. Your hotel staff or local restaurant owners will be able to give you directions!

Back in the time, the Bagan king: King Anawrahta, ruling Years: A.D (1044 - 1077), King Anawrahta became a pure devotee to Buddhism after meeting Shin Arahan (Mon Buddhist Monk from lower Myanmar, Kingdom of Thaton). He encouraged believing in Buddhism and wanted to spread in his reign. He truly believed in Buddhism and he strictly denied the worshipping of the Brahmas, the Hinduism, and the spirits at his time. So he built a building called Nat Hlaung Kyaung (Nat = spirits, Hlaung Kyaung = cage), where the statues and images of these spirits were put. He encouraged all of this countrymen and women to build pagodas as much as they could. That is why everywhere you can see pagodas.

Thank you so much for watching! It is very important for us to show both the good and the bad side of each destination we travel to-we believe you can't really get a true idea of a place unless you are exposed to all aspects.

You might see children guides in Bagan. When u see them, u should listen and only u need to give money as much as u can. Maybe around 1 dollar. They don't ask so much.

yes..that trash is bad.. now a day they have a lot of campaign for anti-trash throwing or plastics around the country. even in Bagan now (www.mmtimes.com/news/bagan-plastic-campaign.html) they are doing as much as they can but it is kind of slow progress. Myanmar is among the Least Developed Countries and it's in the progress since it has started a new government in 2015. So it is kind of slow and they are trying their best in term of social economics as well as politics but it's gonna be a long way to go. Anyway thanks so much for your wonderful experience sharing.. it is a lovely video. You are always welcome to Myanmar.
