Here's what happens when you decide to race 100lb cargo bikes, complete with adding a power meter to measure just how painful that effort was. During this nearly 30-minute race around Amsterdam's Olympic Stadium (an event from RideOut), both myself and my wife competed for the title of worst cargo bike racer.

@@Dcrainmaker Our grand kiddies (and their parents) live in Amsterdam, and when visiting, we would take the girls to school. I borrowed my daughters Urban Arrow and with my wife and the two grandies all in the bucket, it was a fun ride every day. The temptation was to race everyone, but my cargo was a little delicate so I resisted. The Urban Arrow is a great piece of equipment. Between me, the wife, the girls and the bike itself, we were probably around the 220kg mark, and yet it felt pretty easy to control given what were attempting to do with it. A lot of fun. We're back there next May. I'll keep a lookout for any races 😉

Someone should make a cargo bike racing videogame. They tip over by too much steering. Imagine to transport clumsy objects like large unsecured beachballs, bowling balls or an anvil in the open box without loosing them, while passing an autocross-like skill course with narrow curves and all that.

There’s a power meter built into the Bosch system but it isn’t shown with the Intuvia display that you have, it’s only available on the Kiox or Nyon displays which you can upgrade to!

I did the change on my Load 75, I did hower have to change some of the wiring. You can also connect your BT heart rate sensor and see your workout.

NGL though, when I saw your daughter standing on the bar of the bakfiets with nothing keeping her from falling off and getting her legs mangled under the speeding metal frame of the thing, it made me pretty nervous. Those things come with seatbelts for a reason!

It does my head in that you can only go up to 25 km/h. I recently sold mine for this reason. Yes to have assistance to get you going and up to that point is great, but after 25 it becomes a very very heavy bike

The Harry most certainly wins, as you don't have to put 20% of your power into the Bosch turning into a dynamo above 25. It is even worse, the Bosch starts the roll off at 23 already, so the maximum speed you can sustain is 23. The display shows 25, because it is 8% off. Too bad all e-cargos were UA. I've a Cube Cargo myself, and it is like the riding position of the Harry, with the Bosch motor. So at least it allows you to hit the pedals. I can easily push it to 30 for short runs. The granny-seat of the UA is impossible for serious leg work.

That looks awesome & nice that the kids got to enjoy original Pedalos - we have those here in Germany in every (elementary) schoolyard for some quick races 😄Did you do anything to the steering rod? No matter what we try, the steering 'flutters' on our Urban Arrow, at least if I go race mode with it or downhill. Tried new bearings, with & without that rubber band thing, even with an aftermarket guiderail it didn't get much better.

Thanks! No, we haven't done anything to ours. Our original bike (that my wife is riding), will do the crazy fluttering thing around 32-33KPH. The newer bike (that I'm riding), doesn't seem to have that problem, as it's apparently been fixed. Thankfully, this race stayed just below the 32KPH threshold for her. And more thankfully, we have zero hills to go down fast around here (just a couple highway overpasses that we've long ago learned not to go down fast). I just saw a thread on the Urban Arrow Owners Facebook page with people posting their top speeds - nearly 80KPH!!!!

It's funny, apparently in some renditions you have to pickup a tire (or more) each loop. I actually like that idea, as it adds some variability to it, rather than just becoming a test of who can hold 30KPH the longest w/o battery.

Indeed! I had a GoPro Hero 10 with a Max Lens Mod on my handlebars facing me. And then on a chesty I had a GoPro Hero 10 (no Lens Mod). There's a handful of phone shots in the rest of the video (non-race portion), but most everything is GoPro Hero 10.

Oh, and my wife also had a GoPro Hero 10 on her handlebars. The only problem is that it very slowly slipped down (just a simple clamp mount that wasn't quite seated properly), so the view eventually became just the sky.

The Dutch have serious fully seperated bike infrastructure. So no helmets required, only for mopeds and speed pedelecs.

Most bicycle accidents are in fact solo accidents

@@simonnrgaard7731 Might be, but a solo accident is easier made on a car-road or gravel track, than on a perfectly smooth asphalt track that never sees cars/trucks and thus remains pretty smooth over time. I doubt if in NL solo accident are the majority. Maybe among elderly (too much power underneath) and teenagers (they can't stay of their phones), but for others most accidents are with cars or other two wheel vehicles. Also a helmet does help zilch, nada, noppes with the most injured body parts: legs and arms.

Hey Ray, a bit off topic here, but I have to admit I didn't realize some power meter pedals (or maybe just that one) have inserts to convert clipless to a flat. Are those the only ones that do that? These are actually generic inserts, so they work with any pedals (well, you buy the specific insert type - e.g. KEO, SPD, SPD-SL, etc...). But yup, totally generic. I just put some links up in the description for them. About $20, so not too bad!

the Bullitt won ! yay ! (got one too, it's so cool 😎) he was probably the lightest, maybe took off the battery and didn't have such a huge kid box ... and a more sportsy position compared to the UA. i love the Bullitt ! i wish the cargo area was bigger but the Bullitt-X is coming.
