What a special start to our Tasmania road trip 🥹 We genuinely can't get over how incredible seeing platypus in the wild was and how amazing Tasmania has been so far. So so excited for the next 6 months. Thank you for watching! 💙🚐
We've since revisited Latrobe like 5 more times (we couldn't help it) and ended up putting together a full guide on seeing platypus in the wild in Tasmania. Check it out if you're interested: lydiaandwehan.com/where-to-se...

Hey, welcome to our RU-vid! We are Lydia and Wehan, high school sweethearts who made the crazy decision to sell our house and quit our jobs so that we could go on the big lap of Australia in our self converted Sprinter van. 🚐

@@lydiaandwehan its also so refreshing to see people respect the land around them, as respecting the land goes beyond thinking its beautiful, but how you also dive into the history and animals of the land. Thanks so much for creating such high quality content!💞

Back in 2019, my wife and I had a one to one experience at Healesville Sanctuary, we got into a large water tank with the keeper, we spent 40 mins with Yammi, she was fantastic, she allowed us to feed her worms, and allowed us to tickle her tummy, her mouth was so soft….fantastic time with her….after that we had a one to one experience with the Dingoes….one Dingo took a shine to me, sniffed up my tee shirt, jumped up and licked across my face…..it was so exciting seeing these animals so close up…..brilliant, and our money went a long way for theirs and others to thrive….worth every dollar.

That sounds absolutely incredible, wow. 🤯 What a beautiful experience... I can't even imagine being able to get that close to a platypus. We were a mess being a couple of metres away from them 🤣 And a dingo experience, incredible. We haven't heard about Healesville Sanctuary before but will have to look into them.

Oh my dear friends, the experience was incredible,I filmed it all with close up underwater shots and Yammi feeding out of our hands, she was very relaxed and over being tickled…as for the Dingoes…hehe we were their guests and showed respect ie not staring at them and allowing them to smell us and lick us..they seemed very laid back..ok the experiences were not cheap but the money goes towards the protection of wildlife so worth every dollar..Healesville is up in the Yarra Glen area about hour or so drive NE of Melbourne..really nice place and not too touristy even though we were tourists..doubt if the one to one experience happens now due to covid dangers but who knows…oh and at Ballarat wildlife park you are allowed to get up close to Kangaroos and there used to be a huge Wombat called Stuart who was so friendly,I bonded with him…I love all animals my love though is snakes …hehe..so hope to see a Tiger from safe distance later this year…hey guys keep making your great videos, they are special and really make you feel part of the adventure x

Easy to do when you're in a spot for a long time, we feel the same about WA as we took the beautiful spots for granted. Now that we're on the road and visiting new spots constantly we definitely appreciate everywhere a lot more!

You guys are the cutest...I take it for granted, my parents as I used to say as a teen " was dragged around" every place we lived and got to see and experience so much...but now I am more like a Platypus 😅. Southern Tassie past Hobart is wild. Are you going to Liffey Falls? That area is beautiful too, there are lots of caves too. You.missed the big lobster in Robe SA. There is in nsw the big ram I think Goulburn and big potato in Roberson, big banana Coffs harbour and many more😊😊

It's always the way when you're young, the family trips are never as exciting. Nothing wrong with being like a platypus now though! 🤣 Lydia's parents travelled quite a bit when she was really young and she doesn't remember anything and her parents' always laugh and say what was the point in taking her! We definitely regret not seeking out more of the big things! I'll need to add those to our list. There are so many cool ones and I can't believe we've only seen two!! 😅

In the park in Geeveston you'll see 2 good size platypus and you don't have to be quiet. I followed one for 2 half hours and got brilliant photos of him walking over the grass

Yes, they're such cool creatures! At around the 9:00 mark if you look super carefully you can see the spur as the platypus itches itself. We didn't notice it in person but noticed it when reviewing the footage 😊

Just a suggestion, but it might be better to do no talking while filming & just do voice overs later when trying to see wildlife. Also, I'd rather see the camera kept on the view of where you're seeing the wildlife. Just suggestions. ☺
