did you measure for pushrod length or did Anderson tell you what use? Also I'm assuming you know there's more to installing rockers than just tighten them down I've done it buy just torquing them down and it always has worked but if changing heads cam and rockers which I know you didn't change heads I would measure for pushrod length and follow the full procedure to get correct rocker arm geometry this is just to help others reading the comments I'm not trying to tell you or anyone for that matter how to do things that know what's going on just thought it might help someone who doesn't know trying to learn car sounds great.
That part was one of the things missing in the video. Anderson does recommend.050 longer pushrod for this cam. We forgot to order them so we decided to use the stock length which worked well. With that being said he is ordering the correct length for the car. Also I dropped the ball on mentioning the fact that I was ONLY referring to stock heads with pedestal mounts. Not studded poly lock rockers. I do apologize for not being as thorough as I should. This video was a wreck to edit.
1) Exactly what I started to ask. 2) Question is.... Measuring is the only accirate way to know the correct rocker geometry. Is CLOSE enough, good enough ?? Small time investment required.
@@BREW2LFOXBODY You do plenty to help people out I don't mind mentioning a few things that maybe will help out also nothing wrong with the video was fine people could always ask questions if they're not sure.
@@hotrodray6802 With a pedestal mount rocker you want 1/4 to 1/2 turn to the torque spec once zero lash is reached, if more or less then you would add or subtract shims.. that is on the base of the lobe. I'm not sure why they didn't bother checking that?? You'll know if it's incorrect because you will have valvetrain noise like you hear in this video. Also, you want to add some assembly lube, or at least engine oil to the tip of the pushrod, the cup on the rocker & on the roller tip.
Now I want one. I used to race dirt track mini-stock class and so many mustangs were chopped up for dirt track 4 cylinder racing it wasn't even funny. They were a dime a dozen back then. Personally I ran a Ford pinto chassis because I liked the suspension better for a dirt track surface it was just easier to tune into the track surface than the mustang suspension setup was. Leaf springs with shackles and double wishbone front suspension is much quicker to adjust than the struts and four link in the back of the mustangs. I love a fox body for what it is but a dirt track car with suspension rules to abide by was not a situation that it excelled at. It wasn't as adjustable to the surface nearly as quickly or easily as old fashioned leaf springs and double wishbone front suspension was. The drag strip was where the fox body excelled honestly. It came with everything necessary straight from Ford to be able to make it work well. Leaf springs are a whole different animal at the drag strip requiring much more adjustment to make things work night to night.
You can always get the shims for adjusting preload if they were needed. If you get work done on the heads you may need them. You should port those heads and intake yourself or a professional, and see what you can do with the actual stock ho stuff!
Used to run their B31 in a 306 that was intended for N2O but never had it. With all the supporting bolt ons it made 321/336 on the dyno in naturally aspirated form. I’ve currently got an N91 sitting in the box on the shelf if I ever get off my tail and do my 408. I’ve just gotten too old and busy ( or lazy lol) in addition to having fun with my new Coyote…
One last time before I give them to someone else....if Andrew wants some free stock headlights that are not yellow...I'll ship them to him for free....just doing it because your channel inspired me to do all my own work on Trinity (88 lx)...it's all good either way master Brew2l 👍
I remember when I installed my fcam back in the day the instructions said not to let it be under 2500 (if I remember correctly) for like the first five minutes.
would love an update on how this setup has worked out for Andrew? I have a 94 GT, GT40P 1.72 RR combo, and was thinking of going this route. What spring package did you use? doing the math on it with 1.72 rockers the lift on the B-21 will be .548/.548. The Trick Flow spring package(TFS-2500100) only recommends being good to .542 and people online typically say even that is pushing it for those springs.
I loved my N-41 in my 5.0 that I put in my 90 Mazda RX7 after the 160hp 15mpg rotary, I decided why do that when I can easily get 320 HP with hand ported and milled GT40P heads and it got a better 25 mpg with my foot out of it. It was a good mild cam with great drivability, If I remember right it was 224in 228ex with 112 centerline and around .540 lift or so with 1.7 roller rockers (was like 25 years ago) An old friend of mine has a first gen RX7 that weighs like 2400lbs with a LS3 and a turbo that is pushing a little over 650hp to the wheels, as you can imagine he says it is more than a hand full! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-o8uicwy49Ho.html&ab_channel=Motorin
alwased wanted a anderson cam but my stocker with goodies develiped ever so tiny vaccuum leake somewhere i never found..drives and runs fine with plenty of power and i gots the bump too!!!!!!!!!!!!
@@BREW2LFOXBODY we had one at my automotive work was thinkin about use it but whole place close down sell off all equiptment owner retire i loose job so....i just drive the car..unemployed for over a year now....
The N41 has always been one of my favorite sounding cams and it also makes a boat load of power. Thanks for the vid! I have a stock 95 GT that I will be looking to huck a cam in for some more mean haha.
@@kenb1918 very true and when you put a 4 barrel on them they growl even louder i will never forget when I drove my first one when i was 8 its a sound i can never forget
I have the 1.6 scorpions did know you can still get them anymore mine are pretty old pedestal style slap them on and go 👊🔴💪🔧🚗🦊🇺🇲 sounds good those roller rockers are some times uncomfortably noisy if you listen to hard run it for all its worth 💪💪🚗🦊🔥🙏🇺🇲
Sorry for this crazy late comment, but I just had to go with .7 when I did it. Man it would be awesome to have an interested/dad,/ friend to work with in their garage. PROPS TO YOU MY FRIEND!!!
I made an Anderson cam spec post on the corral about two decades ago with the same user name. I made 296/339 with this cam, my own ported explorer intake and my own ported gt40 heads. Car went 11.86@117/118 in 1999-2000ish. I too ran them with 1.72 rockers. The b21 and b31 were identical specs except the b31 was meant for 1.6 rockers. This is actually a blower cam, but runs excellent with a high compression NA setup or with nitrous. Speaking of nitrous, this cam is almost identical to the n21 cam abet a slight difference in centerline
What is max lift for this set-up.....my heads are rated for .550 max lift....do I need to get stiffer springs for .600 max lift??...i try not to rev past 5,500 rpm. Running elbrock e street heads 2.02 valves.. pistons have the big valve reliefs....I'm more worried about maxing out the Valve springs
Curious to see on how it runs with the factory fuel injectors and maf. Just got myself a gt40 kr2 cam and I can’t wait to get some heads and install it
I have b21 with 1.7 rockers stock bottom afr 165 heads, 4lbs of boost, FBO and (holley)terminator x 427RWHP ON mustang dyno that b21 cam sounds awesome.
I know hi now andrew feels. I just put a crower 15511 in my vert and it sounds like hell lol. I haven't let it run long enough to pump up. I've heard others say just tighten them up wherever too but been afraid to hurt something. Do you even count the turn after zero lash or just tighten them up? I was under the assumption they need to be torqued down to 20#
Couldn't help but notice the Hanlon motorsports flag in the background. I had them fully rebuild the T-5 out of my 86 GT way back in 1994. They did an excellent job and turn around time for me living in Illinois at the time was fast! Great to see they are still hard at it!!! Oh and I used Anderson motorsport for my mass air conversion on the same car!
You have to love those Anderson cams! I put an N-41 cam in my fox and it was NASTY!!!! I loved driving that car and it always got attention from people at stop lights and gas stations!
Can you do a video on the 1987 foxbody engine explaining every wire/hoses saying what they are and what they do? I would like to know what I need and what I can clean up and put aside since my car doesn’t have an ac compressor and I have some unconnected hoses laying in my engine bay!!
Man anderson cams are some the meanest sounding cams in a 302 ive ever heard. I have one I bought years ago and will use it one day!! Lol if I’m not mistaken isn’t the b21 cam favored for running a little boost?
