Being able to squat is also super convenient for when you just really need to sit in public. I have a form of tachycardia that gets worse the longer I stand so catch me squatting in long lines at stores haha
@@anonymixx8106 ayyeeee me too. And Ehlers Danlos just enough to be able to easily squat and, you know, hurt all the time, but not so much that squatting ✨️TYPICALLY✨️ causes me to dislocate anything lol
@@anonymixx8106Thank you. I just asked this question. I looked up POTS and I’m extremely anemic. I have to eat ice and stay cool so my blood stays out of my extremities and keeps me from feeling faint or sleepy. I have no choice but to squat to keep from fainting often. I love hot baths and showers, but those are two of the worst things to pass out in.
But squatting isn’t just about the position of your body, it’s about being strong/flexible enough to HOLD the position. So sitting on a chair/couch/toilet with your feet on a stool is probably better than nothing, but a lot of the benefits are because it strengthens your legs/glutes/core and increases balance and stability specifically because you’re NOT sitting on something. Like if you’re doing wall sits, it isn’t the same as sitting in a chair. The whole point of it is to strengthen your legs/glutes/core by NOT supporting your weight. Sitting unsupported on the floor is similar. You need a strong core to be able to hold yourself upright like that comfortably without back support. I would argue that it isn’t about sitting vs squatting in itself, but rather that people who can squat comfortably also have better flexibility/strength, probably a healthier weight, etc., so they have a better/longer quality of life.
I am 45 years old and squat down like that all the time, and stand right back up. When I'm pulling weeds in my garden, when I'm playing with my grandbabies, trying to light the fire pit in my backyards. There are tons of times I do it without even thinking about it until I've heard people talking about how it's unusual at an older age. I can do a inverted criss cross apple sauce legs where my feet are on the top instead of the bottom too. I don't feel like I'm more healthy though so I don't think that says anything except that you are flexible.
I always used to sit like that on the floor when i watched tv as a kid and everyone would make fun of me, BUT I WAS RIGHT ? 😮Wish Id kept doing it cus now my postures terrible
Had a Russian friend and he would always squat, even on chairs, so I tested it out and started doing it too. I find the deep squat very comfortable position to be in.
You really don't want to be known as the office farter. My first day as a nurse at a new hospital they told me to watch out for Kathy because she would hot box the med room. It's been years since I've worked there but I'll never forget that comment😂
The key thing is to keep the feet flat on the floor. Most Americans don't havd the ankle/hip mobility to get in to that position, and they'll default to squating with their heels raised and balancing on their toes. The more you work on getting your feet flat on ground, the greater the benefit of the position.
I agree on everything when it comes to the slav squat, but as a Serb from Eastern Europe, i gotta say there’s never a group of older guys talking to each other in a slav squat😅 but regardless, we can all do it, we just don’t talk in that position 😅
In Australia we have some toilets (usually along the freeway) called “long drops” which is just big holes in the ground with a toilet on top and sometimes with no toilet. Makes car trips memorable lol
I wish these guys make a cooking show like master chef with all their employees and them judged by Gordon Ramsay and Jamey Oliver and call it GMMM cool like mmm it tasted good and good mythical morning Master chef
this week on ear biscuits: Rhett learns who Peter Attia is and doesn’t give him any credit. next week on ear biscuits: Rhett learns something about Dr Attia he disagrees with, weeps openly on the podcasts for several minutes.
as an asian person, squatting is so much better on the legs and back than kneeling when you're gardening or working on the ground. Highly recommend squatting lol
Yes Americans do need to squat more!! I feel light headed if I bend down so I naturally squat like a little kid all the time if I need to do anything lower than waist level. Gardening, looking in cabinets or the bottom on the fridge. It's great!
I have done yoga since middle school. I can do this, but for whatever reason lately, I’ve HAD to do this. I have issues with fainting. If I squat, I can wait the feeling out. If I continue standing, I’ll pass out. If anyone else knows what causes the issue I have, please let me know what it is. I’ve been to the hospital and many doctors too often about it. They’ve not helped at all.
It's what we got in Iran. Ditches and squatty potty. We call your toilets in Europe and the US, Farangi, meaning "foreign" toilet. 😅 We also, in Iran, never sit like that (squatty potty position), as it's inappropriate and looks like potting in public.
I bought a squatty potty. But every time I try to use it, the urge to poop goes away. Idk if it's the shape of my body, or if i have squatty potty stage fright or what 😂. My mother's loves using it! She benefits from it! I want too as well 😫 but my butt says "nope" as soon as i get in the squat position. Maybe because it doesnt feel natural to me? 🤷🏻♀️
3-Point Plan (for hypothetical purposes)...Step One: Do a 'nose-deaf check' and press one pump of "fart"-scented spray when they first emit. (If they react, their nose indeed works.) Step Two: 'Ping' Judy to come in, have her chat briefly before exclaiming "It smells like ASS in here!" Step Three: Wear a mask. (if the other steps don't work.) 🍏
@@thekaty714 this is just bad content is my point. every 40 yr old white guy with kids has that book and where is it kept IN THE BATHROOM not ON A RU-vid TALK SHOW
