I agree. It’s really unbelievable that people don’t respect history and non-replaceable things of the past, not to mention leaving them in place! It really is heartbreaking when you see that idiots have destroyed things.
@@Jaspurr28 its doomed anyway. the mold took mostly over all walls, its literally falling apart. also the roof gona collapse probably in the next years. i have been to this place maybe like 5 yrs ago for my first time
I love you guys so much for helping me to see what I am not able to see personally. ive been disabled for 30 years and this is a passion of mine. thank you for showing me things ive longed to see. god bless you on you on your journeys! please respond.
My physical impairment prevents me from traveling and exploring, you guys have opened up the world! You're all so nice and respectful to the locations, wish everyone was as good as you are! Bless you xxx
Dave, I'm so sorry that you hurt your knee so badly. The explore was still so lovely as you struggled through. Thank you for your dedication but I hope that you didn't make your injury worse by continuing the explore. Stay safe and feel better my friend. Love to you and your family.
That was the main thing that got my attention! Hundreds of beautiful giant persian carpets. Those are worth 5k, or even 20k usd depending on their sizes!
Me too! I wanted to collect all those loose playing cards. It didn't fit the place. It is so odd that some bedrooms looked just like they could be slept in. The last one with the fluffy white pillows and white spread? It looks really well taken care of. No dust?
can I help? I love renovating and this actually would not take that many work since the walls and floors looks fine, it just need some tydying and desinfection :-)
I recognize this explore. Brothers of Decay have been here. They didn't show the outside. I'm glad you did. I love how you're just as excited as I am! Love all the old stuff. I love looking back in time. Love you guys. ✌️♥️🇺🇸
I remember seeing this place too and thinking it was one of the most beautiful places ever explored! I can hear it in Your voice as you go through each room! I am sorry you have to be in pain to bring your viewers pleasure! Please take care of yourself this old lady from the states is giving you a thumbs up for another great explore! Don’s wife Shirley
Wow, This was a very beautiful and special place..So sad to see it go to waste. There is a lot of priceless antiques..this needs to be saved. Or at least the contents before the mode does to much damage...Great Job, God bless you for doing this with your knee. After this your going to need to prop it up and ice it down. A little pain meds wouldn't hurt. I pray for a speedy recovery..Thank you for sharing. Love from the US.💜🙏🐦
I agree 100% and was thinking the same thing. They may not be taking anything, but are certainly contributing to a quicker decay and destroy time by leaving things open like that
When you opened the door with all the sewing machines, I fell in love! All the old machines reminded me of my grandma when she use to sew on one like those. It is such a shame to let such treasures just sit there and decay. Then on the other hand we would miss all of the joy of discovering all of these treasures from long ago and maybe a little of the history of those times. Thank you so much for sharing these places with us. You are making it possible for those of us who can't travel or do a lot of walking an opportunity to see the wonderful and interesting places from around the world. Safe travels!
All those sewing machines were made literally 5 mins drive from me here in Clydebank, Scotland. Such a shame the amount of jobs went when the factory closed.
Yes.. did you notice how clean everything is? I have a treadle machine in my family room and it has more dust on it that all five of those combined did. Just from sitting. The fact that all this stuff has sat undisturbed there isn't much dust. I wonder if it was a school or business? Please close the doors. Turn off the lights (just kidding).
so this one actually affected me emotionally... especially when you walked into the library... what a mind boggling experience that must be to see a place like that. Thank you Dave, for sharing these places with us before they are gone forever... Your channel is growing quickly and I hope that you continue to bring us these magical places. Your genuine love of these places really shows in your videos. That is why everyone loves you :)
You are so right! It IS the most beautiful home so far! Love the feeling of every room-it's perfect! You can tell there was a lot of life in that home once and lots of love. Many interests. Did you show the smaller bldgs around the courtyard? Elevate that knee! Ice it. Cortisone shots and maybe an elastic wrap. My knees started that last year and popping out of place. Xrays showed no cartilage left so surgery recommended. I use velcro knee pads for garden work lol. A walker temporarily takes the weight off, pain med, cortisone shot. Quick tips, temporary relief until surgery maybe. I know the pain you're in it's awful! Wear a wrap when you do lots of walking and steps until a more permanent solution is decided. Hugs!
I live in the United States in Springfield Illinois. I don't see things like this very often It seems like a fairy tale!! Wow, I'm almost speechless sooo Beautiful!!!!
Hey neighbor! I'm from Missouri 2hrs west of StLouis!. I wonder how many couches are in that place? Gorgeous! The French know gorgeous!! Would love a longer, slower video of that wonderful place!
It makes me want to spend days tidying up where possible just to make it look better - it’s stunning! I can imagine it without the mess and mouldy walls just fabulous. What a find. I do not understand why these places get left it makes no sense. Let’s all pool our resources and buy it 😍 🌹
@@Jennifer.Ridgeway Me too. I keep fantasying about getting an old house on land to fix up doing homesteading moving outside the city, but one needs a serious chunk of money and adequate income to make it actually happen before one gets too old. I wouldn't touch anything until I had the deed or knew for sure I could pay the mortgage loan off. A regular job isn't enough in this day and age to successfully acquire home ownership.
The mold removal alone would be so expensive it wouldn't be feasible. That's not something you want to mess with. My cousin lived in an apartment that had black mold in it and she spent over two years trying to correct the effects from the black mold on her body. Some things she will deal with for the rest of her life. At one point if her numbers didn't improve she was going to have to start a chemo type therapy. Luckily she did not have to.
@@Jennifer.Ridgeway I live in Niagara falls, Ontario Canada and my home was built in 1907. I had to redo the whole house but luckily the basement was dry and there was no mol. My home is only 1600 sq.ft and without decor or anything fancy it cost me Aprox. 60,000. That's new wiring new plumbing new drywall in certain areas (about 2 1/2 rooms and attic insulation. With just those important thing done it didn't include new roof new kitchen cabinets new sump pump new windows. Anyway you get the picture. $$$$
Yes, it's an amazing find! And you can say "amazing" as many times as you like. It's a shame so many places like this have been neglected. Such beauty wasting away. Thank you for showing us around. Maybe, when you mention the detail of an item, you could focus in and pause a moment so we can enjoy it, too. 💜
Saw this mansion a few weeks ago, filmed by some one else but its so sad to see the vandalism as there was nothing out of place then and now items just thrown about. It is a beautiful place and should be respected.
Yes I just saw it also by Bros of Decay you tuber and his video looked like nothing was touched! Everything so nice n beat and now it looks like it’s been ransacked so sad
Ahh, the SEWING machines in the (one) of library rooms, the design of the individual bed rooms & multiple sitting rooms, the intact stained glass pieces, utility of design in the furniture ...! The decay appears reversible if the restoration started soon. The builder(s) were inspired, so much light still makes it way into the usable areas. Nothing I saw carried a gloomy aura; you were quite delighted even through your obvious pain. Thank you.
This is a beautiful chateau, but it is a shame that it has been trashed. Some just don't show respect to others property. I appreciate the way you handle your exploration.
As a little girl, I would dream of living in a castle Just like that. Thank you. I would have never been able to see the castle from my dreams if you had not explored there. I am from America and will not have the opportunity to go abroad. So thank you again for what you do.
Das Böse We know it’s a continent, but many USA citizens refer to our country as America. Just as Canadians call theirs Canada and Mexicans - Mexico. But you know that.
Pamela Terrill maybe is it’s not a dream , maybe it was a life past memory... especially if you say this dream happened when you were a child ... there is so much about us that we don’t know ... so you never know... maybe you used to live in a beautiful castle
@@dasbose4962 The United States of America. Which I'm sure you probably figured but want to be one of those people who are so unhappy with life that no one can say anything without a 15 minute debate on any mistakes people may have made. Oh wow! If I had the money I would gladly move in just for the library alone. Such a cozy little spot to sit and drink tea with a fire going. Imagine it during the Christmas holidays. Nice!
@Bink Right. One is fortunately just to have a studio apartment these days while tons of people camping out in the freezing cold. I live in a fairly large American city, but I suspect European cities are much like my own today with increasingly poverty, housing insecurity, and widening wealth gap. We think we need to do up tiny house communities, but our laws and government don't actually best serve and represent the common majority. It would be most lovely to have a nice home of my own on 1 acre for a vegetable garden and outdoor area for things like egg laying hens and deer hunting and more self sustainable living not fully dependent on supermarkets.
If the owner is still alive, then the government has no reason to get involved. But it's true that in France, we have a lot of historical buildings that are falling apart due to a lack of money.
Completely love the blue couches sporadically in the castle and the floral printed head and footboard in the bedroom with the writers desk and floral curtains. Soooo gorgeous!
AWE... Breath taking..My favourite so far. Can't believe this building and all those beautiful things are just left, it's heart breaking. IThese are the explores I love the most, Chateau's, European mansions and castles. I could happily live in this Chateau.. Great video.
@@joytobias-christo9490 It would be so special to have your own beautiful chapel. This was a really wealthy Christian which is extremely rare today for Luciferiansim hailing Lucifer as the light bearer of the world is far more popular today among the financial elite in the global exclusive club thing where they're a cabal of world citizens. Lucifer, the Eastern Star is though to have been Venus which is the eastern star, but could be thought of as their big money, high power global finance, and high technologies with them seeking immortality instead of accepting Jesus as lord and savior king of kings. Most of the really wealthy today are, 'living gods,' hailing Lucifer as their higher power. This is why we have evil or the anti-Christ rising today all around this world making horrible things like ISIS, Notre Dame burning down, and risk of WW3 actually happening on our watch.
It's so expensive to take care of and run a business there, we already have so mansion turned into Bed and Breakfast... But so much mansions and chateaux in France.. Hard to keep everything running sadly
What an exquisite castle! It's so tasteful compared to many others that are overdone and too ornate. Even their sense of color is perfection. There is so much I could say about that place. It deserves to be repaired and loved again. Imagine how many beautiful apartments could be made in there? Or as you folks say, Flats. Thank you for showing us this gem despite the pain you were in. Take care of that knee so you don't damage it permanently. You and my son are the same age, still young, but at the age when healing slows down some. So take care, cuz I want to see a lot more of Europe and these unique places!
I am simply blown away! How I wished for the capability to jump through my screen to join you in person! It would have taken me days, as I would be oohing and aahing over every single thing. What character and beauty still remains of this sadly abandoned home. What a tragedy. I figure the top floor must have been the servant's quarters, with the head housekeeper laying claim to the nice suite at the end of the hall. I wish I could go back in time to see the chateau in it's busy, glory days. So much history. Your video deserves to go viral, but I am half afraid that it will, and that the wrong people will discover the location! I hope your knee is better. Thanks for taking this one for the Team. I must watch this again, once I've subbed and shared! Cheers from Nova Scotia!
That thing that looks like a small elevator shaft, that’s called a dumbwaiter. It’s used for bringing food up from the kitchen to the upper floors during the cold months
Yes, that shaft with a pulley is a dumb waiter.Smaller ones were used for food/dishes, the larger ones were used for both laundry & wood for the fireplaces. The 3rd floor rooms look like maid & butler’s quarters, up the back stairs. Seeing this gorgeous place wasting away is a complete sin. The cost of fuel alone to heat that place must’ve been astronomical! The family should sell that property & let someone save it. Haunted locations are even higher in demand.
DRUGSTOREMAKEUPDIVA absolutely! My son would be riding that thing up & down soon as he could walk too. I keep making my hub & 15 yo carry all the laundry down the steps, bc I want a laundry shoot so bad! I can’t lift over 10 lbs, so I’m hoping they get so sick of being pack mules, they’ll put one in for me. I’m not holding my breath😉
I have learned to look around and remember all those around me, at 62 yrs today have learned to look at remember that we all started as a blessing in someones eye❤
This place needs to be kept as-is and turned into a museum for people to see.. This is rare to see a place this unique and complete. Clear the mold out and let people tour it...
Agree with you Victoria.People are not willing to pay the price of real craftmanship, i like the quality & the art of making furniture over the ugly stuff from Ikea.Would love to restore an old building to its former glory.
I can vividly imagine a girl walking the woods behind that mansion. Sitting by that overgrown statue, 2:40 running her hand through the water, looking up at the trees in summer. It's like a movie set.
No question one of the best places ever. The tower rooms, wow. The chapel is awesome stained glass windows. Everything in this castle is over the top. But as full of things as it is , it feels completely empty. The love is gone.
The third floor looks to me as the old servants quarters. The nice big room that had a hat on the desk, bathroom and sitting room with the curved sofa, would probably have been the butler's, as butler's usually had the largest and most ekstravagant rooms of all the servants quarters. The second largest would've probably have been the housekeeper's room, as both the butler and the housekeeper had the top rank of the servant staff in the household, and ran the rest of the staff for the family they worked for. And thus was in high regards with that family. - Good seeing you wearing a mask. Old houses like that can be quite dangerous with the mold, but worst if they have had victorian wallpapers with led or arsenic in them. Some just had new led or arsenic free paints or wallpapers put on top of the highly toxic wallpapers, and when those wallpapers are exposed to moisture and mold, they become a *very* serious health hazard. On another note, shame that the house has been left to decay. Hope it can be saved. And honestly, I like that you haven't said exactly where the house is, so that it at least won't be raided and destroyed by people who might've watched this.
This was amazing the best yet. I would like to say a big thank you, you have made such a difference to my life. Being disabled and in lockdown just sucks. Watching your videos, I am able to explore and enjoy the great outdoors again. X
Me also! So many very rare or unusual things in the home. But, I understand why they moved.. death of the daughter..they probably didn't care for the material things..they just wanted not to have to see the place their girl once was alive.😭
The repairs & cost of upkeep would put people off. The roof alone on a place that big would be anything up to £50K if it's never been touched. There's often no central heating either.
@@ladytron9188 One could see the introduction of modern pieces and work making me wonder how many generations lived there. I was quite taken aback by the card table right outside the chapel! - a rather odd occurrence, vis-a-vis the reverential placement of religious work throughout the house. The place is such a mess inside, deplorable, really, making me believe not much upkeep was made by the last residents. All I could think as he was going through was, "Repairs...repairs...repairs to be made."
@@Midlife_Manical_Mayhem This is a house. It doesnt matter how big or small your house is (it is called a house irrespective of the size, or if another family lives in a house above you or on either side of you or below you).
A personal observation but the French people/government should be ashamed of themselves to leave places like this to rot or end up being trashed! Good explore Dave.
these are abandonned in every country around the world, no one could afford the refurbishing as well as the maintenance and staff to keep them in tip top shape. This particular one seems quite isolated so a B&B would be out of the question as would rental suites
@HenryDavidT Government is not the solution for houses and businesses are the responsibility of private owners who are not taking care as they should be doing. It is government responsibility to take care of and oversee national historic sites such as a capital building or national museum. The wealthy of this entire world do need to start doing a better service to humanity by maintaining historic places, culture, and investing more money back into people and everything. This 21st century era is, 'Winner Takes All,' end game of a maturing global economic so yes they're abandoning old fashion out of date things while only freeing themselves with new state of the art facilities. An old place like this just wouldn't see the wealthy safely in the event of war like might have been the case 100 to 200 years ago.
Woow this chateaue/castle is out of this world. Every time i see those huge mansions and castles i got that nostalgia feeling of past glory. The owners must have been stinking rich at one point. Fantastic chateaue /castle and beautiful furniture❤. Thanks for taking us with us on your explore.😊
Just gobsmacked at the fact that everything still just sits inside this chateau like a time capsule!! like you say, someone needs to rescue it and return it to its former glory. The furniture is amazing and all those beautiful old crucifix. Thankyou for the tour of this place. Would love to see it for myself one day.
A lot less incessant prattle, would have been Fantastic. It was a beautiful place, but WAY too much of the same talk, let the building speak sometimes. Silence is ok.
Danielle Danner - yes you definitely sound like an ass. You sat and watched a video that this guy went out of his way to make and then you complain about it. Why??? If it bothers you so much then don’t watch and better still, keep your negative, miserable comments to yourself.
Danielle Danner - that’s exactly the reply I’d expect from a moronic, cretinous idiot like you. If that’s the best you can do, keep your idiotic comments to yourself next time. Smh.
When was the chateau built? Is there any way you can learn more about the history of this place. I like your videos, but would love to have more background about the places you explore.
Lisa Kaple I agree as I care about eras of design and would love more building specific commentary and back story. It is so sad for me to see so many beautiful objects allowed to ruin. Thank you to the creator of this series for bringing this to us.
Wish there was bio on this one. Title mentioned something about a daughter, what do you mean by that? Please don't leave us to determine on our own please! Finish your title at least. Thank you
It breaks my heart to see such beautiful abandoned mansions deteriorate like that, I would love to see it in person. Thank you so very much for sharing this on RU-vid 😉
Oh wow how could the French heritage let this fall into decay... All I see is the napolionic eara and French soldiers bivouacs outside.. See past the mess and let your imagination run wild... Absolutely gorgeous... Gonna share this
My wife just discovered this channel and we love it! She had about 6 of our 18 kids sitting on the bed with her watching when I got home from work and then I sat down and got hooked on it as well! Thanks for exploring these great old places.
@@stephanie10158 Yeah I thought I read that wrong at firstgood for them that they found this channel maybe this will prevent them from having any more kids lol
People who were exploring there put them there for their photos . You can see in one room how they have taken china out of the china cabinet and put them on the table as props.
I had seen this before; the last crew things were still in place. From then there are lots of missing things. It’s so sad to see that it’s slowly being looted
What an amazing place. I can understand how the parents couldnt bring themselves to go back...but it is an awful, awful shame to have such a majestic property just fade away. Beautiful work!
It is my dream to travel to see places like this . Thank you for taking us with you on your trips to visit with you. I am from Texas we don't have any like this . I love your voice and hope your knee is better . Thank you .
Hi Dave, this was Absolutely Gorgeous Mansion, but sad to hear your knee is swollen & you hurt so bad...so thank you so much for showing us this Beautiful place! Sad also to hear owners lost their beloved daughter from choking, & left all the pictures & gorgeous expensive furniture! I wish the town would either save this mansion & make it a hotel or museum, before the decay takes everything! Take care & stay safe, Love from Illinois USA😊🤩
I’m new to your channel and Thank You so much for this Grand tour! It left me speechless and full of wonder. I can’t imagine the magic of actually being inside this place. I can totally feel your intrigue with this place and I felt the same. It’s nice to know there are others who love to feel the Mystique of the past places that tell stories .... So grateful I saw this 😊
I loved your commentary. Unfortunately the cost of renovating most of these places is in the tens of millions, far outweighing anything an auction of contents could provide. Most of the furniture and soft goods having been exposed to all the mold is just rubbish for a fire. Hearing your heart and passion made me a subscriber. I pray your knee is doing better with no lingering issues.
I’m disabled also and I find these videos fascinating. I love history and exploring. I can’t get over how valuables are left. What waste, so sad. Thanks for the videos and explaining the history.
ian pennack you are so absolutely right. It is very sad. We stay out of debit but without it our credit is crap (USA) we just simply can’t win. Our government has their hands in every single thing we do.
I can only imagine how the family who had once lived here loved this home . The country side is magical you are very lucky to have visited this home so beautiful ❤️
They will never build mansions like this one nowadays, so why must it be that these irreplaceable gems' beauty be left to rot away. A system should exist that would allow people to reside in such places in exchange for continual restoration and maintenance . . . or just anything that would ensure that these marvels are not left to be devoured by history, abandoned to isolation, rotting away alone and unappreciated. I guess that the modern world has conditioned and manipulated the majority to such an extent that their perception has been perverted and their vision has been robbed of the capacity to recognize true beauty.
ThinkerOnTheBus They have that in France. You cannot destroy the façade of any old building. The family has to sell it for someone to save it. I hope they do, it literally hurts my heart when I see spaces such as this get destroyed.
ThinkerOnTheBus, they do have schemes in France for places like this. My own familly live in a place and actually get grants from the government to keep the place together. Not as big as this, but older. You have to kinda sign the place over to the state, but the family get to live there. For a place like this, you would need a plan to do it up, then utilise it in some way to make money. B&B, Self Catering, Weddings, etc.
Can’t few of us just invest in this castle? So much can be repaired and brought back to it’s prime! We could have weddings there...turn it into a hotel....it would be absolutely amazing!
Imagine servants in long dresses on those narrow stairs. Carrying laundry, loaded trays, full chamber pots, babies. And how did old people with arthritis and bad knees manage those stairs?
@@phoebs01 No it wasnt. That is one of the biggest misconceptions. Actually, they didnt die that much younger (especially rich people), however, infant mortality rate was so much higher which brings down the average age of death. If you survived to reach adulthood, chances were good that you would grow old.
I know I’m late seeing this 10 month old video. My oldest daughter and I only recently discovered videos on abandoned places, and we are loving them! My first thought is this...it wouldn’t hurt to take a little more time in a place like this. There’s so much to see. The quicker camera work is hard to focus on. I feel that those who love watching these will be fine with you taking a bit more time in such a large home. Of course, I don’t know if you have time constraints or not, but if you don’t, then go for it! Please know I do love your work. I love the respect you have, and the care you take. It comes through in the videos! Be careful out there! I hope your knee healed up quickly! Much love!

I was "amazed" at all the beautiful, colorful and different wall paper in every single room! Not one the same!!! I appreciate the Respect you give your Exploration. It's just a shame that France doesn't have a National Trust like England has and the US has Historic Societies that take these old jewels and care for them. This would make a wonderful hotel or bed and breakfast place. How far from Paris is it? Thank you. Hope your knee is much better now...
Your are an amazing narrator! You have a soothing, charming, warming voice, that brings the stories to life. And your music background. You are amazing! Don't stop!❤
I always wondered what a castle looked like on the inside! Thank you so much for sacricing your knee and your pain to show us this. My heart is so heavy to know that they lost their daughter. I lost my son, my only child in 2016. You never get over the loss of a child, no matter how old they are or the circumstances surrounding their death. In some ways, as a grieving mother, I can understand their feelings of not being able to live there anymore. On the other hand, like me, I have held onto everything of my son's like it's a lifeline to him! Everyone grieves differently. As you were taking us on this beautiful tour, I could imagine children playing hide and seek in that castle. It would take forever to find someone if you were the seeker! So many places to hide in there!! My heart is broken for the family! I know their pain so well and I grieve with them! I totally agree with you... I wish people would have courtesy and respect when they go into abandoned places! Thank you so much for this beautiful tour of a castle right out of a fairytale! Please stay safe! Be well, and take care of that knee! Sending love from the USA!! ❤

This is the best I have ever seen. Wish they would have more respect for the the antiquities that are irreplaceable. Loved it. Hope your leg gets better.
I enjoy the architecture, furniture, photos and learning about the rightful heirs. I feel uncomfortable watching them opening purses, wallets, boxes of the papers that the heirs should be privet to. It would be super if some tv show would look for the family and learn the real story.
I would love to find someone who was willing to give a home like this away. I would love to acquire such a beautiful piece of history. It is a shame for it to slowly go decay! So many lovely things could be done to this home.
Please take care of yourself....this was amazing, beautiful. When you think of all these places have gone through....wars, 1 and 2 and everything else sad to see them left like this.
I know you were in a lot of pain and I really appreciate your effort to get this video for us, but I do have one critique, if you could go slower and show the details of furniture, artwork, architecture & what's on the surfaces. I personally would be very grateful. I hope the knee is almost well so you can get back out there and explore. Great video 💜🙏👍💜
