Your mom is so supportive, I wish everyone had a mum like that. "My children's happiness comes first" that is so sweet and from my experience it's very rare to have a parent react like that when it comes to this topic of not having kids. Your mum is one of the good ones 🥺

What an excellent video! I know Mom was nervous, but she did such a great job and I love her honesty. I think Kyuho's idea of renewing your vows and having both sets of parents there would be amazing. Perhaps you could do it in Hawaii or somewhere else that's warm. Maybe Mom could do short flights with rest time in between , if that's possible. And then we all need to see a video on Sarah's parents meeting Kyuho's parents. (Do either set of parents speak the other set of parent's language well enough that they could speak all in Korean or all in English?)

I especially loved how you ALL locked eyes with your significant others, because 28 years ago, I did just that with my hubby. 😍 Debbie, you are SO loving and SO unselfish. Everything you do, is for your kids and their happiness……Even with Sarah living on the other side of the world, your love and your grace shine through. My husband and I are both 31, married for 5 years and together for 11, and we absolutely do not ever want kids. We're also an international couple, so we're in a similar situation as you guys (down to the fact that our parents have never met 😅). Luckily my mom has the same mindset as yours. 🙌 It means the world when your parents support such an important life choice.

your dad replying off camera "absolutely" made me laugh so much!! 😂😂 edit: I don't want kids either and I get a lot of comments from people around me too. often times, unfortunate and invasive comments. I think that what Sarah said about not everyone having to live their life making the same choices you make is a way of thinking that is not "common sense" for the great majority of people... and it gets annoying and hurtful at times. people have to stop meddling in other people's reproductive choices edit 2: I teared up with Kyuho's idea about hawaii

You should consider meeting in Vancouver! I think it would be more equidistant from Seoul and Halifax than Hawaii. And this way Sarah's Mom would not need to fly so far, and would still be on Canadian soil and not too far from home if something came up. Hope one day your whole family can come together!! ❤

When your mom said "I just want my kids to be happy, above all else".... I wish more parents were like that. I'd also like to point out that Kyuho's mom was equally respectful regarding your decision to be childfree, during the Q & A you guys did with her. And it wasn't that they didn't care. Both moms said they were initially disappointed, but overcame that disappointment, because they put your happiness first. That's really something. I can definitely see those traits in you guys - that same respect and consideration for others.

If drive 2 hours at a time, can do harvest host in US most of time with rented motorhome. Take your time & then do a cruise to Hawaii. The only thing with ship tourism is the workers do not get any days off until contract ends...about 6 month average. So maybe meeting in US best...though a world cruise from Korea to Pacific US might be better for Korean side of family. And say a prayer for people with no days off in the sailing industry. If flying the atmospheric pressure is like visiting a tall mountain ~2400 meters or 8000ft & that can alter blood circulation around organs. People should not use snorkels for several days after flying. Can lead to death. Experts say long flights impact lungs.

Not gonna lie but it's a low key flex that Sarah could ride bicycle after only a few minutes of riding it with training wheels at four! I was only able to ride bicycle without training wheels when I was in second grade (7 years old) 😅😂

I felt the same way about having kids for a while. But then eventually started feeling unsatisfied with the status quo of my life and ready for a new adventure. I have kids now and love it :D. No one is ever actually fully prepared or ready for kids - that's all part of the parenting rollercoaster!

Oh yes! Have the parents meet in Hawaii! It’s so lovely there. Debbie, I know what you mean about long trips. It IS do-able but not without some difficulty and expense. I have issues that make travel harder and painful. My first suggestion is if there’s anyway to fly business or first class, that’s the way to do it. Yes, it costs an arm and a leg but it’s so so so much better. My doctor also will give me pain medication for trips which also helps big time. And, I usually take prednisone for about 5 days before I go because that also gets my pain levels more under control. If you’re flying into a foreign country, you have to check their laws about pain meds. Some places, it’s a big no no. If you really want to go but just don’t know if you can make it, look up articles about how others do it. And, after you get to your destination, my one suggestion is that if you don’t feel like doing something, stay in your hotel and get some rest. I do that everywhere I go and I don’t regret missing anything. At least I got to go and have fun! 😃

I’m 24 atm and I know I don’t (and won’t) ever want children, and it creates lots of arguments between my mom and I when the topic comes up. I NEVER understood how people take having kids lightly. My mom unfortunately isn’t as realistic and understanding as your mom. I’ve never wanted kids and now that I’m 30 she MAY be starting to get it…MAY. SO. MUCH. Has been said to me, about me… dismissing my decision like… Get over it ahaha! I literally ask potential dates if they want kids cause I DO. NOT. And we go from there cause it IS too big of a decision to be compromising on. Raising a whole freakin human isn’t like you’re test driving a car or begging someone else to fix THEM a batch of ice cream (aka have grandkids so *I* can enjoy them). It’s a serious thing!! Ugh… grinds my gears lol. Also I love hearing the vocal mannerisms you have similar to your mom, Sarah!

Do you really, really, really want children? We both do not want children. We wouldn’t have gotten married otherwise. Kyuho’s sister has two kids, so his parents are grandparents. She really, really wanted children. But no one should be having children they don’t truly want just because their parents ‘want grandchildren’. Korea’s current birth rate pretty much reflects how modern Koreans feel about this. Having children in Korea is no longer ‘just something you do to please your parents’, it’s a very personal choice between partners-as it should be. His parents completely respect our choice and are well aware that we would be the ones to bear the vast majority of the burden if we were to have children-not them. So it is our choice to make.

I love that both your parents are supportive of you guys choosing not to have kids. I remember the scene on Sex and the City when Carrie and Big told other couples they decided not to have kids. And the questioning looks they gave them. Like you're supposed to have kids once you're married. If you're both happy with your decision, that's all that matters. 💜

It’s wonderful that you are spending an extended visit with your family. The Q&A was just so sweet. You can feel the love and respect you all have for each other. As a Mom myself, one of the hardest things is letting “go”, yet one of the most comforting things is recognizing that you did “something” right by bringing your children up to be independent adults. Perhaps Vancouver/Victoria instead of Hawaii? That way, Kyuho's parents get to experience some Canadian culture. About the same flying time for Kyuho's parents and quite a bit closer for Sarah's parents in Halifax.

I don't understand WHY parents want or need grand children 😕 I love my children, yet DID give in to pressure to have kids. I'm with you and your mom Sarah. I think being thoughtful and responsible is the most important. My children don't want kids, so I have fur babies and very happy about it. I'm glad to hear I am not alone in NOT needing or wanting grand children.

Your mom is so sweet 🥰 A+ answer re: no grandchildren. My mom was the same way but my MIL wasn't 🙄. Thankfully my SIL had 2 kids and that satiated my MIL lol! Your parents' meeting story is so cute, I loved all the pictures of them when they were young! My husband and I "locked eyes" too when we met hahahaha, it''s SO CORNY but it's true 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣 Awww, Kyuho's request is SO SWEET, I got diabetes 🤣😂🤣😂🤣🥰🥰🥰

I think Sarah must've gotten your father's hair colour, just seeing u sitting beside yr mum I wonder how u would look in lighter colour hair... just saying. Kyuho as well, maybe something ashy, greyish or something.. LOL just sayin'

I used to have much lighter colored hair when I was a kid :) I wouldn’t want to bother having to keep dyeing it now though, too much maintenance 😅

I completely understand you guys! My son and his wife absolutely do NOT want children. They are happy with their dog. Same as what you said. They would rather spend time, money, energy, hiking, camping, doing things that make them happy. People call them selfish. I applaud their decision. Kudos to you guys for doing the same 🥰❤❤

Oh! Related to yer crime programme viewing. IDK if AcornTV would throw a sponsorship yer way... My Ma loooves watching various crime/drama shows through them. Also, Sarah, that jumper is lovely! Yer Ma should investigate medical care in South Korea. Perhaps reach out and do some preliminary research/contact providers.. A soft cervical/neck collar might make travel more comfortable. Please, if a resource exists that could help you.. Maybe the Korean experts could exchange information with their Canadian counterparts?

Oh you guys, I love when you are so chilled and honest with this Q&A videos. Sarah, your mom is so sweet, I hope she gets well and overcome her health situation soon in the near future. I understand what you say about not having kids is an election and not every choice works the same way for everybody. I live In Connecticut and I haven't seen my parents back in Venezuela for 3 years now. It's a blessing that with this kind of life that you choose you can visit your family in Canada and give them so much love every time you stay there. Hugs from Connecticut.

I agree completely. If you're going to have children, you HAVE to be 100% all in. Anything less leads to disappointment and stress. And I love that your mom understands that your happiness comes first and not pressure or manipulate you into have a child you don't want to have just so she could be a grandmother. Especially with the fact that you two live in Korea, so really, how often would she even see the grandchild? So many parents out there have meltdowns when their children choose to not have children, like them wanting to be grandparents should be given any weight.

I’m surprised y’all’s parents have never met, I hope they can one day! My husband is from Korea as well but my parents have been to Korea twice and my in laws have been here (US) twice so far. We are planning for my in laws to stay here for months after they retire and have a multi generational house. (That’s the plan anyways 😆)

So enjoyed watching this. I totally get the part of not wanting to deal with the long dark winters anymore. I'm at that stage now. Went from Canada's winters to now Alaska's ...🤦‍♀️. I even have my own SAD light to help out. I'd be experiencing a Korean winter right now but l'm waiting for a shorter quarantine time. Looking forward to seeing that family photo some day. 🥂🇨🇦🇰🇷
