In this video we fail to get the Escort RS200 onto the rotisserie because we find even more rust, so we continue to cut away leaving most of the front quarter missing.

Absolutely not failures. Your so thorough with the work you do and the quality of the end results speak for themselves. You stop and do what needs doing where others might decide to skip those areas or bodge them. You never do that.

I have a brand new one sitting on a bench with a card fault. Didn't last one week. When I rang to enquire as to "WTF like?" their returns policy was such a ballache, was so costly & so open-ended regarding costs in their favour not mine, I left it on the bench where it still sits & I have an intense dislike for them as a company ever since. Never before have I bought a welder (I weld full-time all day every day, I wake up & go weld) that let me down so badly, or left such a bad taste in my mouth with so few f**** given from the supplier. I have, over the years, bought machines from all-comers including Kemmpi, Lincoln, Miller, Mosa & Sip - more recently Hitbox, Jasic & Yeswelder - never had a machine so much as blink from any of them & don't have a bad word to say about any - but R-Tech win the award as the one welding-plant supplier to have ever p****d me off in over 40 years of professional welding.
@jamesward5721
@jamesward5721 11 месяцев назад
The Miller did die - has to be said - but only after 3 years of 10 hour days running with multiple operators - Miller fixed it for the cost of parts within a week & were epic tbh. That, the R-Tech & one Kemppi that got dropped down a 30' stairwell are the only welders that have ever died in my ownership. Miller fixed theirs with no quibbles, Kemppi can't be blamed for catastrophic damage due to sudden de-celleration(it was an eye-wateringly expensive machine, absolutely brilliant & worth every penny, but still.. I wince to this day) , the R-Tech was such a crap ownership experience even seeing one still annoys me & I am pragmatic enough to seldom get annoyed by tools. It was by no means cheap - but it was nasty.

Hi James, We are sorry to hear that you are having this issue with your Machine. We offer a 5 year no quibble collect and return warranty on our Machines within the UK. We cover the cost of collection under warranty and if your Machine is out of warranty, we ensure the repair costs are kept as low as possible to ensure it does not outweigh the value of the Machine and to keep you happy. This is not the level of service that we provide or have ever provided so we would like to know more on your experience if you could give us a call and we will look into this further. I don't think it was a failure, Steve. You have already saved so many automobiles from being scrapped, you shouldn't be so hard on yourself. I can't wait to see the next video from the escort! Keep it up! Weiter so!

Rust was terrible on those, same as in the Renault 12 or even worse. I used to have one of those Fords just for autocross in the very late 90s. Nobody was even considering to repair or restore the rust bucket back then, so I got it mostly for free from a scrap yard. I ended rolling it and that was its demise :P. Great job rebuilding that one!

Steve...You guys didn't fail here!....The failure was someone buying a Mk1 Rs2000,😂😂 I remember owning plenty Mk1's and 2's back in the day and they were rust buckets even then, you could practically watch the inner wings rot out!... If one chassis leg was rotten then it was obvious the other wouldn't be far behind!.....Keep up the good work always a good watch. 💪💪

TBH, every seam in that car is boned. If that were me, I'd pull the whole thing to pieces, body shell too. New chassis rails, everything. Without a full rust removal, even if you seal everything up, there will be residual moisture in there and it WILL rot out again. Maybe it will take 10 years, but I'm a perfectionist. 100% or nothing.

No Steve, not failed, just a reminder to inspect cars before restoring even more for hidden 'treasures'. And another 'way to exploit your craftsmanship even more'. Although you may not feel that way: showing what wend 'wrong' is a sign of strength AND helps me to feel that 'even craftsmen like you make mistakes', so i am less hard on myself. You are human! Poor customer: the more you reveal, the bigger the disaster. But than again: better now than after what seemed toe be a restauration. Is it an idea to inspect the cars that come in with an endoscope, to reveal the 'hidden treasures' timely? Do such discoveries make you think that acid dipping is THE first way to go if you really want to discover such disasters timely, or is the chance too big that there are no reference points left to hang on to after such an procedure? Come and think of it: do you have these points after this thorough cutting? And are after market panels precise enough to fit to the rest of the car? Anyway: thanks again!
