The main reason for Launch's absence in most of DBZ is because the creator Akira Toriyama forgot how to draw her at the time. As for the furries or rather the "beastmen" as they called it, they're gone because he forgot about it. That creates a lot of plotholes in the anime, but at least the video game helped fill in those plotholes, well sort of.

She uses guns bombs and missles...In a setting where nearly every big bad can project energy, is near immune to bullets, and can generally outpace her. Unless you dramatically gave her an upgrade in options, like make her an android, or give her a mechsuit, her power and relevance is always going to be lower than needed to bring her back into relevance.

@@Motleydoll123 power scaling doesnt really matter to much, Bulma and Chi Chi stayed around in Z as did Oolong and Pura. Though they were comic relief. Launch could have easily fit in with Z much like she did in the early Saiyan Saga fillers. If anything its just sad she was forgotten about by Toriyama whe she had a decent sized role in dragonball

It would have been so cool if she was there during the Buu Saga. She could've beaten the holy hell out of that rich fat lady, who was sitting next to the Z crew during the tournament. Also funny seeing King Enma deciding to put her in HFIL or Heaven when Buu killed everyone.

My entire experience with Launch has been what little I saw in uncut DBZ. She sneezes and changes personalities, she's gets drunk and shoots things and MUCH later is seen driving a truck and giving Goku her energy. I was so deprived.

She certainly aged better than any other female in the show. It's like 30 or 40 years later and she still looks exactly the same. Perhaps she's biologically immortal, or perhaps every time she sneezes and transforms and transforms to one or the other form, it resets her biological clock so she's effectively biologically immortal because all she has to do to be 20 again is to sneeze.

What happened with launch or "Lunch" is what solidified my dislike for Akira Toriyama as a bottom tier manga writer who happened to get lucky with Dr. Slump and Dragonball. Toei Animation surprisingly actually cares more about these characters than Toriyama ever has. He even admitted writing Dragonball was just a job to him. The fact he non-nonchalantly throws away characters he no longer cares about just shows how little he cares despite writing and drawing it for 10 years.
