We find an awesome moss agate

The river came up pretty quickly last week. It went down almost as fast. This washed away a large amount of muck covering the gravel.
We set out to show you some of the interesting stones that washed onto the gravel bar.
I found some nice red jasper, an agate nodule, and a spectacular moss agate. Time was a bit limited as we were filming in between rain showers. I'm not pretty enough for sponsors to send me anything, so I have to make do with the meager budget my circumstances allow.
When I do a giveaway, it's because I picked up enough cans and bottles to afford the shipping.
The sheer level of ignorance coming from people expecting me to ship stuff all over the world as if I owe them something is retch inducing.
Spare me the dilatory comments.

Lot's of bitching and moaning.
Lots of demanding I use certain equipment
I got a PO Box for channel mail.

Lots of calls to produce 1 kind of equipment or another without a thin dime of donations to buy it.
I'm not made of money.
I'm a person doing the best they can.
My disability forced me out of a career I loved.
I'm not privileged with Federal Benefits or benefits of any kind.
I have to struggle every single day to get through life and pay my bills.
If I'm not getting out to the spots you think.....
It's because I want to eat more than I want to put gas in the car.
In summation,
Sorry I wasn't issued the magical white privilege ATM card .
This is my life as it is, not as I wish it would be.
I simply haven't ever known what that sort of luxury in life is.
You get what I'm capable of providing WHEN I can afford to do it.

Hello my friend, I love your star 🌟 of the day, it's beautiful !!! And it's right up my alley !! I had a wonderful collection of rocks, until I had to move to Illinois for six years, well while I was gone, I had my brother take all my things out of storage while I was away, but then he sold off all of my antiques and collectibles, and my beautiful Rocks, and they were special pieces that can not be replaced 😢 💔 so life goes on. Now I'm to poor to rock hound, I can't afford the gasoline to go. Would you be willing to make a special box 📦 of Rocks for me ??? I love the colors of red orange and yellow 💛 mixed together, agates and jaspers. God bless you dear 🙏 and I'll be watching 👀 your videos, take care and be safe...

Lake Superior along the north shore in Minnesota has some of the best rock hounding shorelines.

The great lakes region is full of awesome rockhounding spots. It's just hard to resist the lure of the wild rivers coast. There's just something about ice blue water flowing over quartz boulders and the impossibly vibrant green of an old growth forest in the rainy season. Every part of the country has a place that connects on an emotional level for someone. I've come to love where I film. No matter how tough my life is as a cancer and memory caregiver, I can find a sense of peace in the forest. I get out into nature to deal with the emotional trauma of what I do. It's a bit heavy but we all have a story. That's my life. I see people through their last struggles to survive and be present as they meet their creator as they leave this expression of life.

To be honest, this isn't the greatest place to live. The rocks are cool, but everything else makes it exceedingly difficult to have any meaningful quality of life. Kind of like how much of the North Korean coastline is beautiful, but not a place to settle down and raise kids. I suggest visiting to get what you can while it's still legal. Wish I was joking :/

I would love to be in Oregon to explore those fabulous gravel bars. I am in the great lakes Niagara/southern Ontario region and most of my great finds are fossils, if I'm lucky some decent crystals and the odd agate and pudding stones. The creek systems are always flooding and always the best hunts after they recede. Never come home without a pocketful of something! I just have to find a good project for bivalves. :) Enjoy the wanders greatly. ty

If I'm not mistaken, most of the south flowing rivers and creeks in Ontario should be carrying Amethyst. Thunder Bay has MASSIVE boulders of it. We used to be able to find it not too far out of NF. No idea why, but I'm suddenly reminded of "Train 48" when trying to remember the name of Sudbury.
@DavidBriggsAdventures
@DavidBriggsAdventures 3 года назад
That's a mostly mixed message. It depends on the individual park, and even then, it's not so much a law as an excuse to be a Karen if the Park employee decides. The general rule is that ANYTHING below where the turf begins is fair play. ANYTHING that touches or flows into the US, MUST be allowed under Treaty. This relates to cross border water bodies under the Mining Act of 1872.
@oldandtired1434
@oldandtired1434 3 года назад
@@DavidBriggsAdventures Yes, amethyst can be found in sw ontario, generally fragments.Sudbury is guite a distance from me, but getting into Georgian Bay area is delightful for all kinds of goodies! I have a chunk of amethyst that needs a pair of hands to make it prettier. I don't polish or cut, just collect, would you like some?

Trade named stone vs natural deposits are a recurring theme on my channel. We have consistently shown that trade named locations make great efforts to convince people that's the only place to find that type of stone. Their motivation is the risk of losing their price per pound racket.

I love the variety of rocks that you find. I'm in Colorado and a lot of the river areas around me are private land. I've just gotten into rockhounding so I'm still trying to work out where to go. The places I have been don't seem to have the variety that you are finding.
@DavidBriggsAdventures
@DavidBriggsAdventures 3 года назад
It can be difficult. The trick is to follow a river out past the homes and farms till you get to Federal land. Boat launches are usually on or near gravel bars.

Yes and no depending on where you are. Here, it's most definitely chalcedony due to the silica content. The name is a flexible one based on where you live. 10 names for 1 stone kind of thing.

@@DavidBriggsAdventures thank you David. I wish I could learn how to identify easily. I have a gorgeous chunk of what I think is chalcedony with hematoid inclusions it’s just magnificent and sort of looks like a fire quartz but I think it is Chalcedony
