LAHAKAI SAILING // ⛵️ S1 Ep50 // This week we finish framing our windows and ceiling to finally complete all the major elements in our forward cabin before sealing and painting in our boat restoration project. These windows completely transform the space from a metal boat to a live aboard tiny home!

WOW! That wrap around window section + ceiling looked amazing! Can totally visualize that area now and start to see just how good it'll all turn out. Celmo (I hope I spelled his name correctly) is clearly a master at his craft and was very fun to learn and watch. Thanks for sharing and wish everyone the best!

Celmo is gifted indeed! Not just in carpentry too, he can do a little of everything on boats. A good guy to have around a boat build! Cheers!!

Incredible wood working by all concerned! I do have a question, though. Will there be some sort of barrier (insulation of some sort or condensation absorber) between the ceiling woodwork and the metal roof? I am no nautical engineer, just curious by nature and OCD, lol.
@lahakai
@lahakai Год назад
Thanks! Yes, we are using 3TC which is a Mylar based insulation (you can see that insulation several episodes back) and then any gabs we might fill with an expandable foam. Some of it was removed for the wood insulation because it was getting on the way, but it will go back once we know where everything goes. Cheers!

The boat is taking shape, we bought an ol farm house as we started to refurbish, the deeper into we got the more work that was revealed. At some point we had to reassess the cost to be if it ratio, we decided to sale, and hedge our losses. I wonder if your boat was anything like our farm house? At what point did you decide your all in?

I hope that the back of the window frames are sealed against condensation from the metal superstructure, would be a pity to spoil that fantastic work.
@lahakai
@lahakai Год назад
Would be indeed! We will be sealing and painting everything after. Probably will add some more insulation as well. Stay tuned for that! Cheers!

Hello Antonio, how are you? We have an Electrolux Mini duo. Wash and dry. The machine is small but meets our needs well. loja.electrolux.com.br/lava-seca-electrolux-mini-duo-lse03/p

@lahakai

@@antonioferrari8891 Ours has 3 kg wash, 1kg dry and we absolutely love it! It's our washing machine at home till we move into the boat so we've been testing it a while. Sure, its small and you have to wash more regularly but the water and energy consumption is phenomenal. We only use the dryer if its rainy out and can't hang things. Sure beats needing to leave the boat to wash things! BTW - This was our first big purchase after buying the boat itself, we found it used and scooped it right up. Zero complaints!!

It’s obvious but I’ll say it anyway, all that wood especially around the windows needs waterproofing and protection from water ingress. Looking very nice now though.

Naval boat windows MUST be with a radius, round corner. Easier to seal against incoming water. That's why Ships had Bullseyes.

@@lahakai could be more useful a water maker...and washing your clothes by hand.....have you an idea how much drow a washing machine??? or you fill your boat with battery, and generator to charge continuously the battery.......remember simple is always worthy try to be simple and the boat lighter as possible or your dream fly away.....

Good evening. What would be the access for any maintenance on this washing machine, as sometimes they have some leaks and possible replacement of parts and components.. If you explained this in previous videos forgive me. And your restoration and work is getting impeccable and perfect. Waiting for one day to sail with you on seas never sailed before.
