Yes we found an amazing park that just keeps on giving! We have maybe at most just scratched the surface at this location. I was definitely getting tired and not thinking straight lol!!
I love the probe technique!! Sometimes its a lot easier to get permissions using it and to be able to get the item out with minimal disruption of the ground. I grew up with the screw driver or a brass probe but tent stake would work as well. I tend to stay away from the brass cause it bends way to easily!
BeepKeeper not sure if I said this, but try joining local history clubs, talk to elderly people there. If you attend church, put up a notice that you can find lost keys and rings for free. Just ask that after you find a lost object if they mind if you detect in their yard. Maybe run a ad in your local pennysaver about that type of service of finding lost items? Also use a ground cloth to put your dirt on to keep your dig holes looking pristine so they can see you do a good job. I even would go in town to the library , postoffice and ask if you can go detecting. Keep at it, once you get a reputation for doing a good job it will open more doors. I also found that it's important to have a very friendly demeanor. Knock or ring the door bell and step back from the door 5-'6' , so people don't think you're going to push your way in. Basically, pretend you're the person opening the door to a stranger.
