Keep Her!!! The stars aligned like you pointed out and brought her into your life. We have 2 dogs and 1 cat. They all found their way into our life. We never went looking. We had 3 but Lost our oldest dog "Bear" last week after 12 years. I am a 44 year old man and don't remember the last time I cried so much. But they are innocent souls full of love. Anyways I vote keep her. She has a lot of love to give.

So weird that two people totally capable of healing and raising her would find her before the predators and all the things that had to line up for you both to be there at the exact time including the holiday weekend and closed shelters to make you fall in love with her. Obviously, it's your decision to make, (no judgements) but it feels like the universe is giving you this opportunity for a reason. Maybe your RV videos, will now include puppy raising.

I like the name Fate. Roe having a protector is a good idea. Surrendering her is so hard because you don’t know who will take her. I love the brindle coat. Sweetie can teach her a lot, too! So, you asked, and I say keep her!

The only one who can say if it’s right for you guys is you. But I can tell you most people won’t put the time in that you would and it’s hard to say how her life would turn out. You are in a unique situation in that you do have two campers so there is some built in space that most other full timers don’t have. My husband and I were full time for 3 years with our 4 dogs and 6 cats. Then we bought a house and 2 1/2 years later are trying to get back into the RV full time. We still have 4 dogs and 6 cats. We make it work by having two trailers as well. We and the dogs live in one and the cats have the other. They have had a camper longer than we have due to landlords not allowing cats. But I totally get the feeling of having too many and not being ready to commit to another one. Good luck! Seems like a total sweetie!

There’s a saying that if you need something done, give it to a person who is already super busy. I think the same could be said of a lost pet…you guys are already super qualified! Oh…and maybe “Lucky” would be an apt name for her.

What a sweet puppy!! It's been 50+ years since I've had rabbits, but I do have 2 dogs and 2 cats, so I know that since your non-canine pets are used to another dog, they will adjust to the puppy. It will just take time...often even as long as it takes for her to lose her "puppy enthusiasm"...and the puppy will learn to co-exist with them if you train her to. You make excellent points re: pros and cons...and all are very valid. A couple of things you didn't mention (and may not have thought of) are, first, having a well-trained older dog makes training a puppy SOOOO much easier. I have female labrador retrievers, and when the older dog gets to approximately 7 years old, I get a puppy. I've done this twice over the last 20 years and can tell you that it shortens the training time remarkably. The second point is related, and probably not something you want to focus on, but the life span of dogs is inversely related to their size...i.e. the larger the dog, the shorter their lifespan. Mid-sized dogs like Sweety (and my labradors) only live 10-12 years on average (sometimes longer, but they're typically pretty slow and immobile if they do). So if Sweety is 10, this puppy will be fully developed at 2 years old or so around the time Sweety moves on to the Farm in the Sky. Hard to think about, but a reality of life. And having a younger dog when that time comes makes the loss much easier to deal with. This puppy may be God's way of helping you with that transition.

We too are traveling in a Motorhome and came upon an 8 week old puppy that came out of the Mesquite off Fort Grant Road North of Wilcox. Her name is Chaco, we found her on Saturday Dec 2nd , no shelters open so we decided to foster her for the weekend, that was two months ago😀

So glad you found her. 🩷 how cruel some people are. Just to leave a puppy or any pet out there anywhere. If you’re going to drive out to dump them out in the middle of nowhere, why not take them to a shelter? Makes me so sad. 😞

I feel your dilemma. I do wanna point out, if you should decide to keep her, your 10 year old dog will absolutely train her in behavior. And the cats will basically get used to her to. The two valid worries are the cost of vet, bills, and the well-being of the rabbits. I have to believe you will find other nomads in need of a sweetheart like this where you are. Whatever you decide, best of luck.

Hopefully with time Sweetie and the cats will grow to be more comfortable and maybe even like her, and as she grows up she and the rabbits should get used to each other as well. She truly seems like the sweetest little thing! And with Sweetie getting older, it may be nice to have a little pup around.. Good luck to you guys with whichever choice you make and know you are supported either way! I know ultimately you guys will choose whatever is best for all involved. If you do keep her, you could name her something like Honey (to go with Sweetie) or Arizona (since that's where she was found!) Side note: Pitties really are just the best!

One last comment: every dog I’ve had has trained not to bite me or furniture very quickly by me, catching them immediately, whimpering, like a hurt puppy, and when they stop and look at me, confused, giving them a chew toy and praising them when they chew it. I’ve never had to take very long for them to catch on.

Plus, if you ever want to stay in an RV park, most won't allow pits. I am not a huge fan of pit bulls (been bitten), but I would never wish them ill or not be sweet to them. My brother has 2 and has tried to rent place after place and was turned down because of his pits. You did a wonderful thing by picking her up though. Thank you for that. David, you guys are so good to her. No one would give her a better home than y'all would.

Keep her, sweetie is a large breed and into the double digits and I know you know what that means. She is a great addition, she will be there for you for a long time. She will give Roe a protector, she will learn that cats are not toys. And you two will be the best parents she can get, and you will regret and be anxious for her if you surrender her. And Bindie.

PACC shelter in Tucson is good with those breeds. My uncle was a volunteer pit breed walker for them.

Poor pup! I found three pups by side of road, I kept one and gave two away. The pup I kept turned out to be the best dog I have ever had! Similar timing situation as you, strange how things seem to work out. Somehow it was meant to be, aww she is so cute!!!
