What a find! Incredible to think that part of the countryside was once potentially a seabed…..my kids love heading down to Charmouth to find them.

Great progress, and what an incredible find with the fossil! You are correct Nick in the fact that the age of oysters can be calculated by counting the rings on their shells, as you would with trees. The thick, dark metallic edge counts for summer growth, and the thin white line develops over the winter months. You can use a needle point, drawing it over the edges to aid in counting the layers.

It kicks out back into the field drain system, technically classed as (online) so we have bio filters on the output to stop any fry escaping.
