Brilliant progress. Have you thought about getting a small wheeled scaffold tower? Incredibly useful and so adaptable. They have folding ones too which makes moving them a snap and doesn't need to be fully disassembled. Keep up the good work - Paul

If your going to insulate inside could of put ply on the roof, kept the togue and groove to finish inside.

Many people install decking boards upside down - the grooves are actually drip lines, not grips. Installed with the grooves underneath, water drips down, but can’t penetrate because water can’t run uphill; the drip lines force water to drip off the boards.

Gil is Mr. Speedy with the hammer, lol. Allows time for extra doggie snuggles in between. Congrats on selling your house. Smart to get that done and the next phase funded before jumping in to the big renovation. The cabin looks very nice, tho I'd be annoyed at the muddy floor; suppose it can't be helped. Here in S. California, it's dry for six to eight months at a time, and lots of building gets done. The wood burner looks very vintage, and should keep you warm as we get into winter. I've never dealt much with fireplaces, so they make me nervous. I'm not sure what kind of flooring you will have there, but I've seen sections in wood cabin floors with brick, tile, or slate to protect from heat, and some kind of exhaust pipe/chimney to take out the smoke. I do really love that it came from another station. I'm sure you have connected with train station folk across the UK, and imagine you will find other great items before everything is done. Cheers!

I'm hoping you will keep the natural wood look polyurethane would be my choice of coating. Cabins need a cabin look.

Crackin job with the cabin. I'm guessin that's not the first building Gil as built. I would be lookin to get some kind of ventilation on it asap. To keep the airflow going .Black mould is always an issue when there is no airflow. Paintin the cabin sounds like a good job for the girls.Only Sayin 😂. Thanks for the vid. It would have been much easier if Gil had used a small adjustable height trestle instead of a ladder. He could have fixed a number of boards without all the shifting of the ladder.

I am confused also. A cabin in Canada you can live in. This has no insulation. Thin walls. Deck flooring. Is it a garden shed or a party room. How will it be used?

To be honest, painting rhe cabin would've been better if you painted the beams before putting them together. Then all the wood would be protected inside and out.

Any time I have an outdoor project in mind, it rains. Now one could assume the weather gods just like to mess with me. A really ungenerous soul could suggest I subconsciously plan a project when it's going to rain! 🤷 Are you going to put down a huge piece of slate under the stove? That would be seriously cool! Nice job on the cabin. Good practice for working on the station house!

The stove looks like it is for solid fuel rather than wood. Still enjoyed the episode though.

I so love watching your dogs, maybe when things are done and nobody is walking around you could run a live cam, throwing the ball off camera now and then to see them all day, love em. Nice cabin, the fire looks like it may have been in a signal box possibly? Hope you sort out a floor cover for it to stand on with a treated walls for the chimney so the wood doesn't dry out or warp? I am curious to ask with the house gutted now are we waiting on plans to be completed or is it materials for the next phase? Keep up the good work looking forward to what you show us next.

Storming music this week, went really well with the content and ASMR hammering. ❤ Do get some advice on safe install for the wood burner though. Another viewer commented about brick or tile to stand it on and Im sure that would be recommended to protect the wood floor from sparks. 😮 Period correct tiles would also look so cool. 😊

Just out of curiosity, why the 1x4s instead of plywood for the roof underlayment?

Personally, I would hace treated all of that wood before constructing, even though it has probably already been pressure treated at factory.

I think this probably goes without saying as you're obviously intelligent people but please get a lot of advice before installing the wood burner inside a wooden cabin, we don't want any "incidents" 👍🏻👍🏻

As commented before, im a bit confused what the 'cabin' will be used for? No window in the rear, no insulation....which helps with both heating and cooling, and i guess its use is relevant to its orientation. The view to the bridge is so nice.
