ABOUT THE TRENCH:
The Trench is a short horror game where you as captain of the Pandora submarine, are the only one who can brave the depths of the Trench - a dark and treacherous abyss. Your mission is to retrieve crucial data from the wreckage of the Neptune, a doomed sub that met its fate in the shadowy depths of the trench. But be warned - the trench is home to unimaginable horrors that will test your courage and cunning to the limit. Can you survive the terrors of the deep and complete your mission, or will you succumb to the horrors of the Trench?

One of my favorite facts, airlines cruise at 35-40k feet. Which means if you look up and see a plane, that’s how deep the ocean is if you stand on the bottom.

Thank you for the science lesson Fooster! The reason why mountains shift is due to tectonic plates which make up the Earth's crust, or outermost layer. Basically huge slabs of land that shift causes earthquakes and tremors. The rubbing of two plates is why mountains are formed in the first place, as the land juts out from the crust. Same concept applies to already existing mountains, so that's why they might change in size and/or altitude
@kokolama123
@kokolama123 7 месяцев назад
I think it's the other way around with earthquakes, earthquakes don't cause the tectonic plates to move, but the tectonic plates' movement causes most earthquakes.

Isostatic and eustatic changes also occur from massive weight transitions and can affect mountain ranges, a great example is the late ice age meltdowns caused Hudson Bay to rebound by 1.5 kilometers resulting in fossilized shorelines over the last 12,000 years of oceanic rising, glacial meltdowns, and the rising and subsiding of landmasses around the earth to adjust to the shifting weight. A fun and fascinating one is the azores plateau which mirrors the myth of Atlantis with its coincidental subsidence beneath the Atlantic Ocean around 11,600 years ago or 9,600 bc, the date given for the sinking of the mythical city. A fun coincidence at the minimum. All the information should be available but some of it is a bit dated and will be put to further tests by current teams trying to figure out the geological history of the Azores landmass considering its very paralleled geology to the mythical story of Atlantis as told by the Egyptians and preserved by the Greeks.

I’m not certain if I have megalophobia, I think I might have it, and if I do, I do enjoy confronting my fear, because in truth I am afraid of majestic things that are cool to look at. Like if I see a picture of outer space, I am looking at something is larger than myself, and that can feel uncomfortable, but that makes me want to confront my fears. Because I don’t want to be afraid of things that are cool to look at.

Well, more like "seen," because of course we don't really go far enough into either. The Voyager Probe launched when? The 70s? And a few years back it hit the Heliosphere... once it's through that region, it'll be impossible to hear, as the cosmic radiation pushed away by Sol (our Sun) is what's out there between stars. Either way, we have seen THOUSANDS of galaxies. But as far as the amount of ocean floor we've looked at with probes and manned submersibles is sitting at about 1% there's just so freaking much, and it takes a TON to get down there. Not space numbers, obviously, but it's still an expensive thing to do and takes lots of time and planning.

2:19 Fun fact! Mauna Kea in Hawai’i is technically the “tallest” mountain from base to peak at about 10,200 meters in height, as opposed to Everest being just shy of 9k meters, but since the majority of its height resides under sea level it isn’t usually considered the tallest mountain. But it beats Everest if you’re just counting the actual height of the mountain!

Airliners fly around 30,000 to 42,000 feet, average is 35,000 but they do have corridors 1,000 feet apart up and down depending on direction of travel for safety - so westbound flights would be 33,000, 35,000, and 37,000 and eastbound would be 32,000, 34,000, and 36,000 respectively - which means the Challenger Deep is about as far down from the ocean surface as the ocean surface is underneath a jet airliner, for perspective.

The famous "bloop" sound is regularly recorded, annually if you will, and sometimes we can hear other bloops behind the loudest sound of it. Perhaps an echo, and perhaps still caused by shifting ice as weather warms. But if an animal is down that deep, it would probably be something like a clam or oyster. So it's not impossible that the bloops we pick up are gigantic shelled creatures making sounds during what would be their mating season, or migrating. And they're just too far down for us to have seen them, especially if they are covered in sand or coral, etc.

There is a reason we know more about the surface of Mars than we know about the Challenger Deep. Because exploring the Challenger Deep is more inhospitable and difficult than traversing space. Think of it this way: In space, if you were directly exposed to it, you would have approximately 15 seconds before your blood would boil and you would essentially explode. If you were directly exposed to the crushing weight of 35 thousand feet of water on top of you, you wouldn't last more than two seconds before you imploded. There are places on our own planet that are more lethal than space itself. Its crazy to think about that.

Here is a crazy fact for you, Fooster: if we shrunk the earth down to the size of a marble, it would be smoother than any marble ever made.

I’m gonna tell you now Fooster, one I think you will like would be a game called the Last Of Us. It’s scary, adventure, and all around fun to play.

The tallest mountain above sea level is Mount Everest. However the tallest mountain from base to peak is actually Mauna Kea. Everest is 29,029 feet (8,848 meters) roughly, Mauna Kea is 33,500 feet (10,210 meters)

Fisk would have peed and quit, before getting to the first part. Thanks for not peeing and quitting, Fooster.

Unless mentioned in either a future video or somewhere in this one, James Cameron isn't the owner of the deepest dive record that title goes to two gentlemen from the 1960s named Don Walsh and Jacques Piccard went to a depth of 10,916 meters with their submarine and only resurfaced once a window began to crack after twenty minutes.

Looks like a dragon-man thing. When we saw the octupi, I thought we'd see some kind of Cthulu type situation. Glad it was something a little different. Thank you for sharing.
