Today we are exploring the dry lake bed looking for interesting creatures living within it and possibly some lost treasures. Join us on this herping mission deep into the swamp to see what we are able to find!
Cole, your obvious love and appreciation of mama nature and all her creatures is so heart warming. I’m so sad for you and your family losing your lake. I hope, in the near future, you find a place that will bring you such joy. Love your videos.
@@COLE_and_JAYWhere did your lake go and why? Where are you? I have only seen this twice. Once on purpose they drained it to build a bridge and another time, a couple years ago a dam broke and flooded the city😮
Cole. you sound like me. My love for reptiles amphibians wild animals goes way up above anybody else's. As a matter of fact I challenge anyone to find someone who loves snakes and all them as much as I do. I am surprised you don't have a backpack with a mini fishing pole with you because that looks like a great place to start fishing.
Cole, imma be honest with you! You and Jay's videos have honestly saved my life it got me back into what i love truly and that's fishing! I just recently got out of the hospital for suicide attempt sadly...i made a mistake and put myself into a toxic environment! But here's where the saving Grace comes in i started watching y'all's fishing videos everyday it kept me distracted and sane...until finally i realized i could leave the toxic environment and move to where i am now! And i get to fish every single day and stuff but i just wanted to say thank you both for everything you do for us fans we love you guys! So much ❤
This lake draining has some silver linings after all. I knew this would be exciting for you and Jay. And I’ve thought a lot about it. You and Jay and your knowledge of biology teaching your kids the processes of nature during this lake renovation will be priceless to their life experience!! Also… I wanna go! 😃 I’ll be adventuring out there after this cold front. Ain’t doin n’em sneks. 😂
I remember watching you and Jay herping in your early videos. It’s been a long time. That little frog was the cutest! The snakes I can live without, thank you very much. 😂
Bro, this is one of the many reasons that I Love y’all’s channel!! Just the knowledge and how to that you provide, is so super cool! Thank you for sharing a rad adventure!
Thank you for the lake bed tour. The fishing may have been depleted on your beloved lake, but you followed up with a great swamp video, I am not much on snakes, but that is the first mud snake I have seen, beautiful colors. I hope he survives where you place him. Great video,
Awesome! We are going to be doing a lot more dedicated herping vids moving forward. It’ll probably be slow this winter but next spring we plan to start getting after it!
Hi Cole, Jay, Cyprus and Summer That little snake was not happy. So sorry about the lake. Great video. Love watching you walking around the lake. God bless and love yall ❤❤
Cole this video is AWESOME I really hope you make lots more like this one. Draining the lake might be a blessing from God. When one door closes another one will open. Also really like the music .THANK you Frank from montana.......
Loved it. Beautiful snakes. Cottonmouths and me not so much lol. The mud snake however gorgeous. I would love more of this and if you have fox squirrels I would love to see them. In FL they are protected. I used to see them all the time but I haven't seen 1 in about 18 years. Keep up the great work. ❤
We are going to start incorporating more dedicated herping content on the channel like we used to. It’s getting to be a bad time of year for it but we are going to do our best!
@@COLE_and_JAY yeah looks like. Don't get me wrong I know herping videos are something you love making. But seeing that lake being drained breaks my heart so i know it hits a little harder for you n jj. I watch every one of your videos n will support you any way i can. I consider you a friend so.. Just gotta make the best out of it for now lol. Take it easy bud
Cole you and your fiends and family make great video's. 👍👍Hopefully the Discovery channel finds your video content, it so interesting and informative 😊😊
Great video. I recall my excitement 35 years ago when i caught my first and only Mud Snake. What a shame about the lake. Long wait to see it come back. Regards from a fellow herper in Florida.
I never knew that juvenile cotton mouths had such strikingly beautiful markings like that! So beautiful! And you're right, I would have figured it as a Copperhead, but either way, you don't mess with them! I enjoy seeing all the creatures when people go out herping, quite enjoyable to watch. And yeah, that Mud Snake looks like he's at death's door. When you let go of his upper body quickly to point to where you were going to drop him off at he head fell almost completely without hardly any strength to stop it from falling, so I think it's more than being in shed, he's weak. I hope your boost, dropping him off at the water's edge allows him to find a meal before it's entirely too late, Snakes are our friends, they keep pest species at bay Perhaps not the mud snake so much but I think they eat more than salamanders don't they? even as juveniles? Well, let's hope the salamanders don't become endangered because that will likely result in the endangerment of the Western Mud Snake too.
Hey Cole, what a coincidence. I just commented on a video the other day how I enjoy your fishing and herping action. And lookin here a herping video! We live in south central Kentucky and have seen quite a few snakes here. Don’t know what kind they are but I respect their right to survive and don’t mess with them. Keep up the fine videos!
When i was a kid my dad and I were mushroom hunting by the creek bed. I was going around a tree and about to take a step. My dad grabbed me by my ahirt collar and pulled me back. I looked at him in a puzzled look and he then he just pointed at the base of the tree. I looked down and low, and behold there was the notorious cotton mouth coiled up and ready to tag me. My dad cant believe i can remember that moment cuz i was a young boy. Thats when i started to respect wildlife. Steve Irwin helped me understand and respect wildlife.
Cole, that mud snake was beautiful! Are those kind of snakes always as calm as the one you held? I don't usually like snakes, but I don't think I would mind him. Love the colors on his snake. Fun video. Loved it.
Would be cool if you had a metal detector with the lake being dry. Another person suggested that on another one of your videos. Take care and be safe. Love to you all
Your video is wonderful and informative. I wonder though, are you an auctioneer? You have got to be the fastest talking person I have ever heard. I find myself having to rewind some of the video to hear what you are saying on certain things. Thanks for sharing.
It's heartbreaking to be hiking where you once rowed, but there's definitely a lot to see and learn, even now. I found a broad banded under a piece of plywood behind my house; dull and blue-eyed, it should have shed by now. I'd love to see a mud snake and get a picture. We have a little underground stream/spring between our property and the neighbors' so that'll help some of the critters.
❤ i wish I was there hunt around. I love doing it. I don’t like holding snakes tho. Still absolutely beautiful tho ❤I can feel your happiness ❤️as always stay safe and have loads of funnnnnn !!!!!
It is so much much fun to go exploring with you. If you ever come to Phoenix I can show you where to find rattlesnakes in my nearby preserve. They like to surprise me on Mothers Day. 😂
Absolutely excellent and very interesting video. Way to squeeze lemonade outta 🍋. Absolutely amazing how quickly the area reclaims itself. Mudsnake was a limp biscuit. Imho the kids could very well learn more about nature and the outdoors with the area in this state than if it was the lake. Cole,it might b deer central in the next couple yrs, idk if u can but i might consider how n where i could post a stand r 2 4 later. Just my 2bits . Great video.
Wow!!! They really are draining that bad boy. Where are you and your family going to fish once it's dry?? This was a great video and awesome footage!!!! Bravo
Great job Cole! That is a lot of God’s art work. Those snakes are beautiful. Be careful playing with those little guys. Thank you for all of your hard work! Be safe!
Sad for me! Maybe you can take a metal detector out in some of the popular spots, see what you can find. What are they going to do there? Thanks Cole. Never saw a mud snake.
It's amazing all the new critters your finding now that the lake is being emptied I enjoyed this video a lot but in the future just you guys again no Jay please it might be to dangerous. Can't wait until the next exportation on your drying up lake. Joey
I love all of your videos but I think that these are the best videos I love learning about all the different types of wildlife there is so please keep making them thank you and god bless you
Can’t wait to see those videos but in the mean time keep the fishing videos coming I have lean so much from you guys that improved my fishing 100 precent thanks and have awesome day
Surprisingly didn’t find any lures but honestly a lot of people don’t fish this area. There are different sections of the lake where more lures will be found!
Can you say Quicksand?? LOL! Releasing the mud snake. I once had a friend tell me to "Walk softer..." at 270 pounds, nobody can walk softer in hip deep mud! Great video.
I have lived in the swamps most all my 69 years of life, and there is nothing cool about a cotton mouth. They are the only snake I worry about. They don't need a reason to get pissed off and attack.
Cole, sure love the music track! Question, if I may; does that area also have timber (canebrake) rattlers and copperheads? I’m going on about seven years living down the road in Bryant and I have yet to come across or even hear about any copperheads. Thanks sir!
I haven’t seen any Timbers around here. A few copperheads but not many of them either. I usually have to go West or South to start seeing more Timbers!
I grew up in cotton mouth country. I've had them swim right by me while wading in lakes and creeks. They can be aggressive and I always treat them with respect
