Good morning. Happy Holiday Season! Jim, as a retired carpenter, it freaks me out watching you use your skillsaw. It's very unsafe to make your cut in-between the saw horses. It creates a pinch point, and can cause kickback.As a rule, the piece being removed should be outside the saw horse. For small pieces make horses into table with a piece of ply and cut off the edge. Just want you to be safe.

Why not anchor the roof down to the ground like one would a building or mobile home ....hurricane ties?

@@caroleberthieryes, but with hurricane force winds during monsoon season, without being tied down to the ground, it will move and there will be leaks, and rain inside their root cellar. 🙄

Yeah, I’m a little worried about that roof taking off like a kite. You all know how the winds are there.
@deannedflrocks5337

Once I anchored down my mobile home down it doesn't shake or move in high winds its like it's glued solid to the ground. All it is is cork screw poles screwed into the ground attached to metal straps attached to the trailer.

I would think about securing droppers on the inside then pin them into the lower sand bags. Otherwise angled pins into natural ground on the outside, maybe star pickets.

I got a tip for a circular saw, and the table saw, set the blade, no more than width, or less. One reason is safety. Second is efficiency. Less power wasted, the battery lasts longer, cooler blades, easier to push through. Really noticable on wet, treated lumber. While I was piling up boards, the kid was starting a fire with his saw. And a feather board, for the long kerfs.

I heard dogs life expectancy, is on average, two years less, because of someone's second hand smoke, exposing them to carcinogens. I live in a tower, with 119 apartments, the gazebo is winterized, and after their pets are walked, they hang out for about an hour smoking cigarettes and cigars. Several lumps and growths, on the pups.

Yup hard plaster like they use from broken bone cast would make that hot bench really POP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'd work on the stair roof and wall in at the same time as the floor joist. Just to keep any heavy rain from flowing down the stairs. Kill two birds with one stone. Or put a board dam in front. To redirect the water around.

STRUCTURAL PROBLEM!! Love your channel for years now❤so I have to give a little love back with over 4 decades of experience dealing with unconventional structural issues. It's a simple fix to remedy the structural failure issue that caused the unfortunate collapse on the first build. Take some 5/4" x 6" PT deck boards and starting from the full diameter in the middle, screw a 5/4" board across under all of your joists joining them together. As you add boards across while working your way to the ends on both sides of the centerpiece you started with. Basically, you're just reinforcing the bridging between the joists that you have already installed and which previously failed to keep the underside of the joist-bridging connection together when the dirt wall gave way to flooding water. Next time these reinforcements will keep the bridging between the joists from "SEPARATING" and if you seal the outer rim from water getting in, and "relaxing the dirtbags supporting the wood members above". Next time you can put your attention on the other structures that may have problems in a future flood event. 🙏I hope this gets to you and you understand the concept, If not, no worries, I'm happy to clarify💛💛💛

Hint Hint applying a compacted sand and hard plaster cast to the floor keeps the ground moisture down from coming through.👉👉Hint to Crews growth was probably caused during Uvea and his first meeting when she DID bite his right lip up causing trauma. It's the same for many animals like cattle. Some people HAVE expienced this from a simple procedure as an ear piecing. Where the ear lob becomes deformed by the same benign trauma cancer.

I am from rainy Oregon, I would not have leveled the roof but do a slight angle so the rain runs off on to where you want it to run. I think its crazy that people want perfectly level decks, instead of having a slight downhill tilt so that the rain can run off.

I have a question.. How will you secure the roof of the cellar? Is that going to be secured to the bags or the ground? I’m waiting for you to complete it so my husband and I can start ours but just a small version of it 😂 In case of strong winds like we have here I think it would be better if it’s secured. So much work and I’d hate it if it went flying

Crew's face is looking great! He's such a handsome pooch. I keep meaning to ask you if you make golden paste for him? I found it helped our old English Mastiff get around a lot easier during her last couple of years, big dogs always seem to struggle with achy rear legs and hips and it's so easy to make. I think that your waiting is a good idea for the floor and nailing the floor down. I would like to suggest that when you do fix the floor into place that you use long construction grade SCREWS instead of nails. I have switched for the past couple years to screws for the beauty of the occasional need to change something! Screws come out with little damage I think this may be a good consideration for your compacted dirt compaction. I don't think they would shatter your compacted dirt at all! Calbino
