Did end dump 50 yrs my man b careful dumping! Make sure the load is center of trailer an always level ground! Don’t back into a place to dump if the whole load doesn’t have room to come out ! B safe god bless 🙏🏻

Be very careful with the end dump they turn over at the drop of the hat. Alway make sure your trailer tires are level and don't lower the bed while moving.

81°F, that is beach weather, it is going to be 20°F, and forecast to reach zero late next week! Soon it will be snow hulling season where the drivers can get up to six 18 hour days per week as long as they do not leave municipal limits.

Hey Justin, welcome to hotrodding, 80s never smeared one lobe, break-in oil, zinc is great after break in, seat pressure on valve springs 110# max, fast idle 20 minutes, then warm and shut off 2 more times for spring, one thing I have learned Rotella is good oil for cams

I'm a company driver but after the past few months I decided to hang up the keys and just get a normal job. I'm fortunate to be in a position to be able to do that but I'm tired of sitting in truck stops for two days at a time not moving and being away from home longer than I'm supposed to and running outside of my region. Freight is barely moving. Our drop yards are full of loaded trailers that the shippers need off their lots but the customers don't need them or want them right now. I've only been running Walmart loads and a handful of lowes loads.I'm sure depending who your carrier is that some are moving a little more but see a lot of guys sitting in the truck stops not moving for days at a time like me.

Send that flat tappet cam back. I build engines up here in Pa. Modern oil does not have enough Zinc to support these types of lifters. Change over to rollers.

At my work, we use Landstar. We get a load from Washington state to SE Kansas every week. We usually see the same driver every 2 to 3 weeks.

If Your Dumping That Trailer with a Telescopic Cylinder if so you need to be Extra Care, never Dump while on a Angle, Soft Ground, Those Dump Beds are Notorious for Flipping over because the Slittiest Angle.

Hey bro. Tried leaving a comment earlier, but it used a screen name I’m not familiar with. Lol. I use to be Mikes Hotshot, but after I lost my Mom 6 weeks ago, and with the way the trucking industry has went I decided that after 25 years as an Independent Flatbed Trucker it was time to retire and surrender my Authority. Selling the 48’ spread axle, and also my wife and I are selling our house and have already started full time RVing. Pulling our 40’, 5th wheel with the rig. I’m really looking forward to seeing the sights in person instead of just passing by them on the highway!! Justin while you have blower off and your doing cam lifter swap check the blower oil see if low maybe change it out top off since those blowers are not cheap good insurance plus it's easier to do while you have it off and also oil for engine use valvoline race oil it has zinc in it 10w 30 im doing a break in on my 62 nova with nice built 383 550+hp my 32 ford has 400 sbc with weind blower just put on new aluminum heads going run the zinc in it as well

Most trucking terms date back to horse and buggy or railroads that originated the term. Bobtail is a railroading term. In the old days a caboose had 2 axles, not 4 like freight cars. This caused a very bumpy ride due to the lack of springs like on freight car trucks. The cabooses were called 'Bobbers'. When an engine left the yard with no cars it by law had to have a caboose and this led to the term 'Bobtailing' meaning only an engine and a caboose.

No need to add zinc. Just break in with Rotella 15-40. Has plenty of Zinc in it. Just make sure you keep at 2000 RPM or higher. Never had one go flat.

If your pulling Landstar loads from the load boards, make sure you log in to Landstar to verify that it's really a Landstar load. Scammers are getting aggressive recently.

I recently was put on stand down with fedex. I ran a end dump trailer for 2 weeks. I was paid 25% of what the truck made. After taxes 2000. For 2 weeks. I'm rethinking. I might get me a truck and a wet kit with a dump trailer. It's really busy. Ltl is slowing down.

Did you test the push rods? Sounds like a mistake adjusting the valves. Make sure they are not bent . Possibly they didn't have the lifters pumped up before adjustment. Rare for a cam to be wiped out like that

Hard to believe whoever you talked to at Comp or Summit would recommend putting the same cam back in. A roller cam would've allowed you to essentially skip that whole break-in procedure. Roller lifters would've also allowed for a more favorable lobe profile. When breaking in that new flat tappet cam and lifters you want to keep the RPMs continuously varying. You mentioned a few times holding it at 2,000 RPM. That would be bad. A sustained constant RPM is what you should avoid.

The issues with the freight market are all a result of Amazon. With covid people still needed the goods and couldn't spend time out shoping so the resistant masses learnered they could stay home and still get the goods needed, from Amazon. With that said majority of amazon goods utilizes cars and vans not trucks through hubs and stores. Hence the reason all stores have lack off sales needing less merchandise shipped to there stores. While everyone still has what they need. Also inflation from stimulus spend causing excess prices have people only buying what is needed not what is wanted.

From what I have read, the better the economy the more people spend money on the things like vacations, travel, etc. instead of items. And that during the pandemic people bought things for themselves and homes at a much higher rate because they were home more. Thus many things were bought at once that do not need replaced right now. Also "Many new entrants that started business in the mid-pandemic freight boom paid historic premiums for used equipment. Used truck prices skyrocketed 205% from the start of the pandemic to the beginning of 2022, forcing small businesses to buy three- or four-year-old used equipment close to the initial purchase price." So less demand and way more companies that entered the market is causing your problems. They say those companies can not last much longer and once they are gone things will get back to normal.
