What an adorable girl! Such a big difference from when you first saw her and her mom in Saigon! She's more cheerful and definitive more talkative. I think she's opening out more because that woman is there. Hope to see more of them in the future!
Nice to hear they got off the streets, please do your best to continue to help them if possible. The mother looks very frail and weak and the young girl needs support. It was nice to see the other lady show concern for the young girl as well!
Regarding the hate for China, remember that China is claiming all of the South China Seas including the islands already claimed by Vietnam, Phillipines, and other countries in the area. A few years ago, the Chinese even started surveying for oil on the seabed close off the coast of Vietnam. There has been historical conflict between Vietnam and China for a long time. They recently fought brief and bloody war in 1979. Am surprised you are not aware of that.
Chau Anh is precious! She's so happy and cheerful and playful. This is so sad. Do you know what it's like to realize someone you love has a brain that doesn't work right? You realize you're both not in the same reality, that they might hurt themselves or others, and you're helpless to change that. It's terrifying and heartbreaking. And for her to have to deal w/ that when she should be playing carefree in a playground w/ other kids, or doing regular kid things. Aren't there any social services there?

Very quick witted of you Troy on your response when she commented that you look like her dead uncle. It was an instant emotional connection there. The mother seemed out of it. The little girl was rather precocious, but I guess she was the one taking care of her mother, instead of vice versa. I would think a small child being on the street like that is not safe.

Mom and Daughter are both great and Mom is bearing the tough reality such as the shoe problem.. she is a proud Viet woman and wants her daughter to have a proper life. Mom deserves all the help needed to get her self sufficient with a fresh start and I hope and pray many can give so a huge amount can get Mom self sufficient !!!!! Cam on to all who can give some !!

This is heartbreaking watching the Mother and Chau Anh. It remind me of the song by Helen Reddy " You and me against the world" This almost bring tears to me. Chau Anh was remarkable in high spirit in spike of their circumstances. I'm happy she go to school and she seems excited talking about school even it's far. The mother looks like out of it. Life is not easy. Troy, I hope you can find out more and we all can chip in and help.

The mother has no emotions. You can’t tell if she is happy, sad, angry or whatever. She should definitely get a permanent place to stay. The street is no place for a 10 year old.

Damn bro, the optimism in Chau Anh's face is just so inspiring. We as adults often lose that optimism and carefree spirit as we grow older. It's certainly nice to be reminded of what we used to be and can still be once in a while. You're doing great work brother but I noticed that you're not very fluent in Vietnamese so often times when you speak you don't address the people properly which could make you come across as being impolite or even rude. And trust me when I say that I sincerely admire what you do and just want to give you some constructive feedback. Please use "em" for yourself when speaking to someone only a few years older than you and "con" or "cháu" when speaking with folks old enough to be your parents or grandparents. You should address them as "anh/chi" and "cô/chú/bác" and "ông/bà". Learn about the several pronouns and honorifics that we have in Vietnamese based on age and gender and it will make your interaction with the people there even smoother. Thank you for all you do brother!
Bless that woman from the pharmacy.. she has a heart of gold. Wasn't this the family that you stumbled upon and the girl was crying because she wanted to rent a room to sleep? Maybe that isn't the only reason why she was crying. It must feel hopeless for her.. she's the child, she shouldn't be the one caring for her mother. Please continue to help them ❤
Troy,you are right the young girl is only repeating what she hears from others about China, she obviously does not understand, this is definitely a family worth helping. I am amazed atthe way the Vietnamese regard China as compared to America,in general.

FLMAO, idk where you live but this also happens in the US and i have to say the problem is a lot worse, but there, they choose to ignore them, ship the homeless to other state or even mexico, hide em out of tourists and rich people sight like if they were trash.
This story could legit be the basis of a movie/documentary, with a few interviews nice she is a teenager or adult, and this footage mixed in. I think it would be successful. Keep the footage always.
I come from a poor country / emerging economy myself and currently in Vietnam. planning to move to Danang soon and what I have noticed from speaking to the ex-pats there is there a dearth of hard working people to work as domestic help- cleaning , cooking etc. Would her mother be willing to move to Danang? If she works hard she should be able to manage as for the girl,I am sure the community there and the you tube community can get together and finance her education. I personally can commit to something if it helps find a long term solution.
Troy, no easy solution to a difficult situation-always extra hard when it involves a incapable mother and young daughter. But, maybe to ensure their safety for the next few months to years-A debit card or cash card with some donations from your loyal followers to be loaded every month until she is old enough to finish primary school? I know it sounds radical but I know that your followers around the world would help even if it means a "penny" at a time. Let me know what you think. Man, I was born and raised on the streets of Cuba basically, and the place is a Communist s...h.xole, but NEVER NEVER NEVER I saw a child sleeping on the streets. It is cruel seeing so many people and cars drive by and nobody rescues that little girl. I mean, I think if I go to Vietnam I'd become penniless in the country immediately because I would help those children with all I got...
