Sharpshooter is not necessarily good at Marine Corps bootcamp. A good majority of recruits get expert because of how easy it is. Marksman being the worst, sharpshooter being the second best and expert being the best. So more than likely he could have been the only person to shoot less than an expert in his platoon which would be why he is singled out.
@FlashinGatznCookies NOT really we sit in a horseshoe formation were people often fall asleep and get in trouble for about 4-6 hours getting as well as a class that the CMC instructors give. They don't want to be there so most of the time they teach the bear minimum.

Those guys were just savages to them. When we had swim quals, the first assessment includes jumping off a platform. There were a bunch of black dudes from chicago that didnt know how to swim. The black DI's were picking these dudes up and throwing them from the 15 foot platform. Or the spartan kick off it. I've never heard anyone scream just completely terrified like that before. It was hilarious. They had a dozen guys in the water or at the edge of the pool to grab them because each of those dudes sunk like a rock to the bottom. It was safe. Those poor guys did not feel that way at all though😂 every single one was taught, and passed quals. They needed more instruction, which in boot camp could be some weird after hours stuff.
As a dark green Marine, I concur. In the beginning of bootcamp, when I saw that I had a black drill instructor, I thought I had a friend...I was sadly mistaken 😂😂😂😂
@giovanimontoya4517 Its like this: Expert=highest level. Next level below that is sharp shooter. Lowest level is marksman. The DI's want all of their recruits to qualify as expert. Thats the expectation. The first time I went to the rifle range I didn't even get marksman. It was terrible. I requalified at expert (thank God) but that unqualified was hard to get over
@@acerbicgeoff7821 idk why they have scores like that just for table 1. Your rifle qual is a combined score with tables 1 and 2. If homie here shoots good on 2 he’ll get over 305 no problem table 2 is easy as shit. Lots of people score 100/100 on it cause it’s closer range with people sized targets
I think you are a little mistaken. 213 is not enough to be bragging about. Especially since 220 and above is Expert and 65% of marines shoot expert. He was pointing out that he shot mediocre.

It was a wow because he probably shot better earlier in the week and choked. Had a kid expected to be the company high shooter and then choked. Our SDI was pissed.
@@troy97523 I've spent enough time as med coverage in the pit to know that every Marine a rifleman doesn't necessarily mean every Marine a good rifleman. When POG units and reservist get on line for requal, the groupings get comical. 😂 Some guys can't hit a house if they were standing in it.
You wore woodlands in the summer? This was recorded 2 years ago so that’s a lie. Also in 2003 the video quality was shit. I was at MCRD San Diego in 2009 and no one went around recording anything, we had a book and a short video that was terrible quality. Our videos in Afghanistan (2011) had better quality surprisingly.

My favorite DI's were black guys. They were walking comedy. They always come up with some shit that makes your ass laugh and then you getting smoked while laughing and crying at same time. I did so many pullups I think my arms got longer bc of it

@NoodleAsiannobody cares about other countries and their languages. I'm from the UK, so I'm not an American. But we're fairly similar in that you call the person what they are. Those on the front lines in the Army would be referred to as soldiers. Our Royal Marines Commandos would be referred to as marines also I believe. Not soldiers. The selection process is different. The training is way different and more intense. That's not saying it's easy to become a "soldier" in the army, but it's far more difficult to become an RMC than it is a private in the army. I'm sure some don't care. But purposefully calling them the wrong thing is lazy, and somewhat disrespectful. It ignores and pushes to the side what they went through to become what they are. You'd never call a Sergeant a Private for example. Not unless you're a complete moron or extremely ignorant. Put some respect, just a little, on what they actually are. Marines, aren't soldiers. Rangers for example, still fight on the front lines with soldiers and Marines. They're not soldiers either. There's a difference. Imo, they all deserve and should be called and referred to as what they are because of what they went through, again, to become what they are. They all made sacrifices. Some made the ultimate. If other countries don't have a word other than soldiers, I'd imagine it's because that's all they have?
As a disabled combat vet this made sound strange to most but Basic Training was one of the funnest things in the military. Especially if you realized at the start that it’s 90% mental (probably even more) and the easiest part was the physicality. Dead a$$ some of the things that come out the Drill’s mouths is priceless. You will meet life long comrades and friends.
I have to agree. Some of my best memories are from Sand Hill Ft. Benning GA. From Drill Sargent Simmons crazy ass the moment we arrived at 40th AG to DS Lee smoking our asses for hours after Vinson slammed Estrada's face into the pay phone 😅 and many more good times in 2-58inf back in 2003.. damn has it really been 20 years..

You missed out. I heard and saw some of the funniest things in my life at MCRD. Got a degree paid for and bought a house with no money down. I’d say it was worth it. I also laughed a lot and became my DI’s pet. Made things a bit more interesting. What’s even better is seeing shit so funny even the DI’s break character and have to leave with their heads down struggling to hold it in.

Marksman (aka pizza box) is lowest, Sharpshooter is mid tier, and expert is highest. Don'tbe like me and have an ex girlfriend as your range officer or you might get a marksman qualification no matter what your score was.
I will be 56 years old July 28th of 2023 and there are several things that I have forgotten, but I still remember my Technical Instructor's names from The United States Air Force. Staff Sgt. Dehart,and Tech Sgt. Venagas. Those Two Men were instrumental in my orchestration to Manhood. The approval of those Men at the end of Basic Training at Lackland Air Force Base was the first time as a young man that I was proud of myself. 🧐💪🏾🙏🏽
The reason you see that is because you have been brainwashed. You do realize they mentally train you to be detached? Never a good thing for a human being. That is why there is so much mental illness in the military.

36 years later, DI's still scare the crap out of me. Those memories still hunt me, PI was a hell hole for a green recruit but don't regret a second of it, Platoon 1047 1987. Semper Fi.
Our Army D.I. in Ft. Lewis had us all run around the parade ground looking for cigarette butts. For some reason I guessed he would be standing over one. I walked over, and there it was between his feet. I leaned over, picked it up, wondering if he would jump on me for getting that close. I stood up, and said, " My father's a retired colonel." I'd been policing up my "area" since I was five. No comment. I saved the boys some laps.

I had a black Senior DI who was a trip. We would go on humps with full 782 gear and he would never sweat in the heat of Camp Pendleton. Literally the dude didn’t sweat. Man those were the best days.
That’s my thought too the recruit was starting to smile too so he knew he was a fuck up before and now he shaping up this was the drills way of saying good job keep it up
