We Got Arrested For Filming At The Airport! 

This was just a crazy day! Sad it still has to happen to content creators who do nothing but promote the country! Am sorry you guys had to see me like this but I was just so angry! We know our rights! 😫 I hope it stops.

As someone who has loved your content for a longtime, this was such a disappointing video. Please sis don’t let fame get to your head. Humility can save you a lot. In the video we can can all see and read the body language from you and the first official who politely told you to move away from the entrance and move to the other side (we can all see you guys were standing in the way as in blocking the entrance) but your immediate response to him cleared showed that you were actually the one that was rude to him. Guy was doing his job and following his employers instructions. How you blew the situation out of context was totally wrong. You put up this video to expose how you were being harassed by the officials but instead you officially exposed yourself to the whole world about how ignorant and disrespectful you were/are. This reminds us about the Uganda incident, you were coming from an innocent place but with some ignorance that’s why you were harshly attacked online. A good traveler does research about the countries that he or she plans to visit. Google is our friend you can no longer subscribe to ignorance in this era. Look at Tayo Aina’s videos, that guy does research beforehand even though he may not get all the information but rarely will you find him/his videos on the complete side of ignorance. Use those experiences you consider challenging in your area of operation as learning points not attacks/harassments as you like to call it these days. Start doing research before going to capture content in another country or place in general. By the way it costs nothing to ask if shooting content is allowed in that place or not. You’ll have nothing to lose but protect your image/brand. Also, work on your PR/communication skills (this video has exposed your weak points in that area as well) how does someone approach you politely and then all of a sudden your response is to throw a tantrum"????Like how??? Come on you can do better than that. If you’re told you can’t film from a certain place please don’t force it, this world is too big, just excuse yourself and film from another place where you are allowed to. It’s their loss not yours especially if it’s not for security purposes. Don’t force yourself on others or something, if they don’t want you doing that from their someone else is willing to receive you and your services else where. It’s that persons loss not yours. They will need you one day. RESPECT YOURSELF AND MOVE AWAY. Stop treating yourself as Missy Trudy start treating yourself as Missy Trudy the brand coz such things (your weak points that we’ve seen in the video and other videos) can easily send away potential sponsors for your brand. Finally HUMILITY is key in this life, it will take you far. You started well, don’t let fame distract your vision.

I would be so annoyed if I was doing my job like those security personnel and someone posted videos of me on RU-vid like you have done.You have no right to do that-it's a very serious invasion of their privacy....you have made a serious mistake not deleting the videos as requested....other people have rights too and if I were you I would make sure I have a good lawyer right now!

The security was Right... You blocked the entrance & he asked you to just move on the side... You showed him attitude then things escalated... Afterwards that's when you were stopped from filming - wish you could listen without Attitude

Sometimes it is good to talk less and listen more did you ask them the reason why filming at the airport is not allowed? Tempers are bad because you keep traveling and creating bad blood with officers under instructions at the airport is not good for you.

Moral of this whole situation is that, in this video we can see all security personels calm and doing their job but the 'content creator' on rampage, reacting with anger..clouding her own judgement. Trudy as much as you are trying to earn your livelihood from this job, remember that humility,patience and not anger help solve any situation you will face. As a content creator you need to do some work prior to any filming you plan to do, just so that you know the rules, you know the culture or what you could possibly encounter. Or else you will attract similar situations and unneccessary shame which will in turn affect your work. Just note that eventhough you have put a wrong thumbnail and title to this video, you might not be so lucky if you try to pull this kind of drama in another place. You are still young but after being exposed so much, learn from your mistakes.

I know these videos are edited, so my comment is based on an edited version. It appears that the first security guard asked you to move to the side. I didn't hear him ask you to stop filming, but you didn't move and your facial expression immediately changed. Aggression would usually be responded to with more aggression, so this perhaps triggered the escalation. I understand your frustration, and you've probably filmed in various airports, hundreds of times, but this does not negate the fact that places like airports have rules/regulations and restrictions regarding filming. I only hope these rules are consistently enforced for all races and not just Kenyans/ blacks. Sorry you had to go through this, but next time, just remember that you can't control everything that happens to you, but you can control how you react to it. I think championing the amendment of the law, in a respectful way, to allow content creators the autonomy to film, is a better way to go. Good luck!

To be fair, you guys had blocked the check-in gate at T1 for over 10 minutes while having a chat. I wish that, the security agents can share the CCTV footage showing how the "content creators" had literally packed at the gate.

As an aviation expert, all airports have got different restrictions. But most of the time, you are not allowed to film around screening areas for security reasons. Always respect security at the airport coz they have got all the authority to offload you, make you miss your flight. Always respect security and complain later.

It's known in Kenyan airports you're not suppose to film since the times of bombing. There are warnings everywhere. Sad as it sounds it's good to adhere to the rules

Be mindful about national security concerns as much as you're creating content. Airport security isn't some estate gate security. Perhaps you should have taken that opportunity to interview a senior personnel in security to enlighten you why some protocols are followed at national entry and exit points.

Honestly I agree with the employees… Miss Trudy is “filming content” but also attention seeking. Film and keep it moving, her and her friends seem to be lingering. It’s awkward. For the record, I’m Kenyan (born in Mombasa) moved to the states at 5years old. I live in the U.S, Atlanta, Ga. Anyway, watching this made me cringe. Seems a bit childish and Miss Trudy you are causing unnecessary attention, then on top of that she’s pointing out the individuals that are “threatening” her. I’m just looking at the gentleman’s faces and they just want to work their shift. Girl, those security guys are just doing their work of keeping security. Lobby the right people for rules and regulations to film in security sensitive spaces such as the airport. Every country should have very clear and specific rules around filming especially in public places. I was forced to delete pictures i took of my daughter in the ferry in Mombasa because the law does not allow taking pictures in public/crowded places. I did not know that and I obliged, albeit grudgingly. I live out in Western countries so I have a different perspective of respecting rules and privacy of others. (I don't mean you do not but am just saying...).

I was once in Mombasa air port, the first thing I had to do was to ask for permission if I could film but the officer told me I am not allowed to film but I can just take pictures of myself. First, let me mention that we are glad for the great content you and Maya have been doing. A fan of you two for years. However, in the above video you were just in for drama. First, the security guard, with all his humility, requested you to leave the entrance and get on with your activities yards away (in Swahili). The lady with you obliged but you the boss lady had a show! When you are creating content, you have no right to block the entrance, it's an airport not your home. Second, who arrested you? Under what OB number? Third, we aren't allowed to film every public place in the name of content creation. Malls, airports, art galleries have special rules. Keep up the good work and be low on drama as always.

You loose nothing for closing temporally and seek management clarification These guys are under instruction so to them they wouldn’t know what position you do hold. Like the CI said they have rules and would have seek a waiver so that such incidents wont happen I do encourage, you may need to delete this content, it may affect your other destination and gets visa rejection because of such I think its wise as content creators to know the by laws of each and every place Indeed you fought for your rights but also do consider the implications you may create for yourself. The problem with you content creators is that most of you don’t understand media law and code of ethics . I didn’t find anything wrong with the security and also there was no right there for you as much you want them to respect your right respect the organisation rules too.

Review the Kenyan government laws such as photographing government building and etc. These laws have been there for more than 40 years. USA has fifty states and each state has its own laws. As long as it is not a federal you have to abide with laid down laws. Nobody is above the law. Sometimes it better to listen rather than cause drama. I hope it is a lesson learned. Silence is a more powerful weapon.

Madam Trudy I'm your follower but I must bring this to your understanding, for the sake of security in MOST airports, people are not allowed to just film anyhow and that's why there's a filming area. I believe every airport has its own rules and the more you press hard on filming and they have said no, the more the situation becomes chaotic. Above all, keep on doing the amazing work you do.
