To answer your question: Steve was a nobody during first season and the show was nearly canceled... BUT right after the first season aired, Steve was in an INCREDIBLY popular movie called The 40 Year Old Virgin. Due to that movie, season 2 was ordered and they mellowed out Michael's character a bit (made him more likeable). Please keep going on this - The Office is such a great show!

The Six Million Dollar Man was a major hit tv show in the 70s about an astronaut who crashed a plane and who was rebuilt with a bionic right arm, both legs and eye. So he became a superhero working for the government. They had no idea how to make it look like he was going "fast" so they made the very questionable decision to show him running in slow motion with that "shatatatata" sound effect repeatedly. And somehow that was supposed to be him going super fast. There was a lot of very horrible physics in that show for sure.

The Office is one of those shows that starts off moderately strong but gets really good as it goes on. I personally would say go for it. edit: no spoilers, but as it goes on it does start focusing more on other characters and less on the awkward boss man.

The Office is so rewatchable, a million little jokes and inside things you get when you pay close attention. Example, Creed randomly dyes his hair black and then later someone mentions all the ink is missing from the printer.

Theres something so special about Season 1, I knew instantly it was going to be even greater when this came out, one of the best sitcoms ever made

As someone who owns the full dvd sets of every sitcom you listed I can say without hesitation The Office is absolutely the best!!!!!

You get to know all the different employees in the office over time…and they’re hysterical! Yeah it starts with mostly cringy Michael Scott as the boss, but as everyone else’s characters are revealed it gets even funnier!

Apparently, the Diversity Day exercise Michael came up with was something one of the writers had to do in school.

Season one is the worst season imo because they try to follow the originals style. Highly recommend you try till at least season 2 finale to see if it's your thing. 100% can't wait for more 😂

There are some parts in later seasons that are so funny that it will literally put you on the ground laughing! There is also a fair amount of drama and romance! This is one show that should not be missed!

The first season (6 episodes) is kind of a tough watch because Michael is so cringe. And the audience has no background information. Season 2 which is also short begins to flesh out the other characters. Believe it or not you will begin to love Michael even when he steps in it constantly. Love this show. Trust me, it will fly by!!

The first season (only six episodes) is a bit off. They really channelled the British original and it didn't really land fully. After that it just gets better and better. That being said, I'd rate both 30 Rock and Parks & Recreation higher.

Continue! The first few episodes have an over-the-top awkward humor but I think the show is trying to find its footing. Over time, feel like the humor changes a bit and becomes more balanced. Also, the character development in this show is wonderful and the overall storyline is great. I think you guys will love it. ❤ I also recommend Parks & Rec!

It's gonna be even more awkward and the characters personalities will be more set in stone over time Gr8 mockumentary about office life because it used to be a bit like that, there sure were some extreme personalities in the offices I've worked at, it isn't necessarily bad thing, makes the days interesting 😂 The original(brittish version) is even more awkward because it doesn't make everything so "animated", it is just a lot of extremely awkward people 🙂

I wound like to suggest reacting to Brooklyn Nine-Nine too, the comedy is a bit similar to The Office

The first season seems so different from subsequent ones. They tried too hard to copy the English version and it didnt quite work. When they started making it for an American audience it takes off and becomes its own thing.

Please watch the whole thing. Season 1 is entirely based on the British version. The American originality really kicks in in S2

As you watch it the “off”characters become so much more amazing than they are im the first season. They are frequently frequently more interesting than the mains.

The Office was lightning in a bottle. it was based on the British series of the same name. However, they had to make some changes especially with the Michael Scott character, they had to find a way to make him more likeable for the long run because there were only 12 episodes of the original series in Britain. And Steve Carell brought a really heartbreaking vulnerability and loneliness to Michael in later seasons. Both series are shot like nothing else. All of the people on the show sat at their desks all day. There were two cameras operating, one that followed the main action, and one that picked up reaction shots from the other characters sitting at their desks. So to many of them, who had actually worked in offices like Pam, the receptionist, it felt like working in an office because it wasn’t a typical set where you shoot a scene and then go offset while they shoot someone else. Also they had three writers who had roles on the show. Paul Lieberstein played Toby. Mindy Kaling was Kelly Kapoor. And BJ Novak was Brian the Temp. That is unheard of. Also, the writer of the episode would be onset as a producer. Also unheard of. On most shows the writers and actors often don’t even meet each other. The series was not shot in the traditional manner. They did not want young hot stars that looked like friends, though I loved friends. They wanted realism. That realism led to some of the most in-depth character development on a series in history. The show had moments of great pathos as well as comedy. You’ll notice the comedy is not typical of many sitcoms with set up line, set up line, punchline. All of the comedy comes from the characters. Which is the hallmark of really great comedy series. The first season of the office was rough, but the second season is where they really started to hit their stride after the network decided to trust them and leave them alone lol. Continue with it it is in someways more popular now than it was when it was on the air. With Podcasts books and the highest streaming minutes of any comedy series worldwide.

I implore you watch the whole series. One of those that must be watched at least once in your life. It was the entire reason I kept Netflix till they removed it
