Clam's do love spawning and clouding the water...regular like clockwork ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hPxgSlyhXHM.html I would only buy more Berghia if you have an Aiptasia problem again it is possible their are still baby Berghia in your tank as it is often the army of offspring that takes the aiptasia problem down rather than the parent's themselves ...like I said before breeders end up chasing around trying to buy up aiptasia to feed their farm (now you are doing it 😀)....it's a lot harder than people realise to successfully maintain a berghia farm a very delicate balancing act, if just one of those berghia gets into your aiptasia growing vats.....that's it you have to strip it all down and start again from scratch, they are worth every penny of what people charge for them because of the difficulty in maintaining them
I pressed like twice because you ask twice 11:45 :P Really cool from Remy to have been able to share those coral, they look epic! And awesome to telegraham to pass by :D
I had nonstop cloudy water with the white slime too. Found out that it was from my ro/di system's old filters/membrane being contaminated so I changed all the filters, the membrane, the resin, sanitized it, and the problem eventually went away. Could be different for you since it comes in cycles but it never hurts to check the health of your ro/di rig.
I discovered that if I mix my saltwater (coral pro) at any temp above 65ish then it will cause calcium precipitation and my water will be cloudy because of that. Calcium is more soluble at lower water temps. I started mixing with Unheated water and it solved the problem. You said every two weeks at the same time with both tanks so it sounded like a water change schedule to me. Idk tho.
"Why am I watching this, I don't even have a marine tank!" I do however, have freshwater tanks. With no intention of going marine. However, I wish there was a freshwater nudibranch that would eat hydra. Fresh water hydra has been a pain for me. I got rid of them, but with chemicals. Which I was skeptical about doing, as my gugdeons were on the verge of having fry. What happened? The fry hatched the day after I treated the tank. To my surprise, they all survived. This video is just.. man.. maybe I need to do a marine tank. So interesting.
Hey man! Long time fan. Just wanted to put out there that the berghia nudibranch may have died of old age not of lack of food. When they get that big they don’t have long left to live. Always best to get smaller ones than bigger because they only live for 6 to 9 months. Just a possibility.
Soft corals are just the jam! Love this video so much, and a huge fan of weeping willow, snagged a neon green weeping willow a bit ago excited about it! Great video!
When are you noticing the cloudy water, before or after the cleaners? Are you running your central air? Im thinking its either the chemicals if its cloudy after the cleaners come, or maybe you need a new filter/hepa filter for your hvac. I wouldnt put any corals on the RFG's as they will be covered in coralline soon enough. If you want, I have some pink star polyps that you can have after I do a bit of research on shipping. They would match pretty well with the coralline growth that will come to the RFGs
Happy birthday little reefer, think u should ad a fish or coral every year as part of a bday gift then when he’s old enough to understand put them all into 1 tank , he can start a channel of his own , birthday reefer would work
Still a Frag. That’s how stuff go in nature. Babies separate off mother. Wave and current and weather damage. Small pieces however they come are really fragments of the original. New corals come from spawning. Gametes meet and fertilize. Larvae then if survives attaches to substrate.
You have to be in the hobby for 24 years to be educated? Sorry - 54 years an aquarist and 4+ years into reef hobby. Basically you just have to read, have an interest in learning facts and science and read. That’s it. Simple really.
If it keeps happening after your cleaners come, they are definitely using something in the house, doesn't have to be near or same room, ive even heard of people having this problem using glade plug ins as well
I think it's the cleaning crew, I wouldn't let anyy clean in my fish room but me. One time my roommate did something and I list corals. GSP or Zoa's would look good up in the feeder maybe even Xania
@@coolcandyfish1359 I agree with that. If you're using windex which is mostly ammonia, then you'll prolly be alright, but other cleaning agents could be a nightmare.
Something thing I heard a few months ago that has stuck with me..... if you look at any of the Japanese planted tanks, they all have a great sense of scale between the scape and the fish. As reefers we tend to kind of ignore this situation in our tanks. Bigger fish swimming around smaller frags or "mini colonies". Your mangrove tank is an exception.
Why dont you set up a nano tank with aiptasia so you can have a steady supply? Then you can feed them mysis in that tank so they reproduce fast ;) That way you can also avert introducing unessecary pests to your systems (besides aiptasia)
Back in the days before the reef things got big, I would often see rocks full of aptasia at the wholsalers for sale, so yes originally it was bought on purpouse.
Invest in an air purifier with a carbon and HEPA filter for your fish tank room. They’re not terribly expensive and would help clear up unwanted aerosols.
my tank stop going cloudy after 4 months after of setting up the tank so dont worry i was trying everything for 4 months to fixed and nothing work so just be patient
Cloudy water is common in an aquarium up to a year old, I had issues for a while and the UV Sterilizer always made it go away. I also had high nitrates of around 40 which didn't help the situation.
The weeping willow comes in different varieties or his is a special mutation. Mine is called a weeping willow but it's tentacles are not as long as Remy's. I looked around for the longest time but I don't see any varieties that are comparable to Remy's willow.
Garry Cole lots of people calling regular Japanese toadstools weeping willows to cash in. I saw one that was literally cut from a short tentacle Japanese, but placed in a lower flow area of the frag tank so it developed tentacles 2.5-3”. Selling it as a ‘real’ WW for $130 for a 1/2” square cut. Parent leather was $30 for a 1”. Despite it having a green base and nowhere near the tentacle density. The original WW I believe was collected personally by Jake Adams and may represent a unique morphological form or species entirely. That’s my personal understanding of the WW saga, but I don’t know any of the players involved, so this was gleaned from watching almost all of the available WW videos out there (of which there are few)
If its bacteria blooms, a UV should take care of it. If you think it's outside pollutants, you should try a carbon reactor. If its snail spawning, there is nothing you can really do about that other than remove the snails. If it were me, I would run a carbon reactor on it with ROX carbon for a month and see if it happens again.
was looking for this comment. 99% sure its snails spawning. They usually get as high as they can and do it so current picks it up. If you notice all snails are at top of the glass. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hy1SUFXvGBs.html
My tank is turning cloudy randomly exactly like yours and then it clears on it’s own and the it happens again, and my algae gets covered in white hard stuff as well so if you work out what’s happening pls let me know
your cloudy water could be your clam spawning, mine in my 250g used to spawn every few weeks or so......then the tank would take a few days to clear, just a thought...
Try checking the source of your fresh water and your sump and filter media. Not an expert by any means, only been in the hobby for a year, but just a suggestion🤔
Could you comment on humidity in room with the 130g tank? I am in 215 sq feet room and wonderin what size of aquarium I am able to fit with not a big impact on humidity.
On a cycle every two weeks? Seems to me like fall/winter is coming. You have wide open windows and get tons of natural sunlight maybe because the days are starting to get shorter and you have marine plants in your systems, this might be causing them to go sexual.
On your cloudiness issue. I recently saw a video by majestic Aquariums, Paul Talbot in Australia. Jake Adams in fact did a LFS tour of his store while visiting. Anyway Paul the owner recommends a product called “fluid filter media” made by easy life to clear up and polish water. The claims of this product seem to good to be true. I’ll send a link
I would say something is getting into the water as its to coincidental to be happening every two weeks . My water turned cloudy after my daughter burnt incense in the room
I know it’s a long shot but please consider selling me a Frag. I’ve been searching for this coral for years now. I gave up after the second one was 2” max polyp extension.
Then it’s not a genuine true Weeping Willow. It’s more likely a cut from a regular Japanese toadstool that’s been adapted to lower flow. I see this all the time
@@InappropriateReefer do you have a promo code that you would benefit from? I'm going to order some and hopefully they'll take care of my aiptasia problems.
@@sseeaahhaawwkkssrule975 no promo code here but thank you for asking! if you have a decent sized tank, be sure to get a few, supposedly they attack aiptasias as a group. They also starve very quickly if you plan to grow them out, may want to start an aiptasia culture before hand (I lost mine within ~3 days of no aiptasias)
@@InappropriateReefer I changed my mind after seeing the $100+ shipping charge. I was going to order 4 of them which was roughly 56$ before shipping but that shipping charge killed that. I'll check one of my LFS and see if they have any.
