I learned that the lice hate dirty hair so if you do the girls hair and apply hairspray that could help repel them. Mind you, my “kids” are in their 20’s. So this advice is from a good while ago. Tea tree shampoo should work to repel too since it works on most insects.

A few drops of texture oil and lavender oil mixed with water in a spray bottle works wonders on deterring lice. Spray it on each morning when you do their hair. No need for chemicals to kill lice. Soak the hair in olive oil and comb those little buggers out. Even just putting loads of conditioner on dry hair and combing the lice out works great. 😊

I was coming to say the same thing. I work in elementary aged childcare and whenever lice pops up in our classroom I add a few drops to my shampoo when I wash my hair and I have never gotten it myself (knock on wood).

I was going to say the same thing. Tea Tree Oil. 10 drops into regular shampoo and wash hair as usual. Kills the nits and eggs comb right out.

My daughter had a six times in the second grade, and they kept telling me that I must not be cleaning properly. I finally threw a big fit and made them clean the room. Her school room, her school classroom. I made them take care of the carpets I made them do all of that. I even paid for it so that it could get done and then my daughter never got it again.

Also, when I was in the fifth grade, with hair down to my waist, I , too, got lice. However, it was from the boy sitting in front of me. When the teacher/principal denied that possibility, my mother removed me from the school (private school - so she could make that choice) and no more lice after she got all the eggs removed from my hair. You have to follow up on the eggs.

This worked for my daughter and she has never had lice! When my daughter started school my sister-in-law told me to put hairspray on her everyday at the base of the hair and a bit throughout the hair because lice likes clean hair not dirty hair and I did this throughout all of her school years and it worked well!!

I've worked as a nanny and in a child care centre and never got lice. I swore by tying my hair back and using hair spray. Once the children I nannied for began wearing their hair up at school the instances of lice decreased. Remember lice LOVE clean hair. I loved the taco dance Lucas! ❤😂❤

My family had lice several times during my childhood. Here were some things that helped: Separate hairbrushes for every member of the family helps prevent the spread of lice. It's typically spread due to multiple members of the family using the same hairbrush. Getting unique color-coded hairbrushes, each placed in different locations, will mean it's unlikely for the whole family to get lice if one person does. Look for lice detection tools. After many years my dad bought a sensor that could detect lice. Cleared out a massive lice infestation within a couple hours. Using such a sensor could also detect lice on bathroom objects, to ensure no lice is left behind. Also, try checking for lice in your yard. Micah could be getting it from collecting bugs. Once the lice is gone, make sure the girls are scratching their heads when applying shampoo. Thick and/or dense hair can still be dirty in the inner layers even if it appears clean. I implemented it into my showering routine nearly 10 years ago and haven't gotten lice since. Hope this helps and it doesn't come back.

After Luce is out of the hair , use the tea tree oil ( dollar tree has small tubes ) , also put all stuffed animals in a tight sealed bag up to 30 days or set in the sun during the for awhile.. pillows and any throw pillows maybe some of the stuffed ones put in the dryer for 30 minutes on the highest heat but keep an eye out !!! Also hair up and a little hair spray sure helps ..

I had alot of trouble with my daughter's getting it when they were young at school because it kept coming back. I hated using the chemicals at the store they were expensive and didn't work well. Sounds strange but what I did that finally got rid of them was covered her hair in mayo before bed and had her with that and a shower cap all night. By morning washed her hair and it was finally gone. Don't let anyone tell you that you didn't clean enough. Lice LOVE clean hair.

I just watched a video earlier with parents putting a small ball in each of the babys hands for them to walk. Maybe they feel more balanced? I wish I would have thought of that years ago. My soon to be 30 yr old walked at 6mths. I was told that I did as well. My 2nd was like 14 mths. Then my last 2 were right at a year. They walk when they are ready, right? :-) I can't believe Lucas is almost 1 already. Time has flown by! He's the cutest and sweetest little thing just like Micah Moo & Pagiee Pooh! It has truly been an honor watching them grow. 💙❤️🩷🩷🩵

I feel for you, My now 29 year old daughter was a lice magnet, my son 30 was the first to get them but never got them again! my daughter got them from 5-10 far too many times to mention, I always kept a spare treatment on hand because I couldn't bear the idea of my child's head full of bugs, I've tried everything but the best thing is tea tree conditioner for combing through but also they don't like the strong scent but neither do the kids, I used to plait her hair all over her head, time consuming but really effective! hairspray everyday is great too, too sticky for them to move through hair, my daughter teachers all said they go for the same kids over again, when she was 8 I caved and had her hair in a short inverted bob didn't stop them completely but was way easier to tackle, good luck

I second the tea tree oil, do 5 drops in your hand and mix with shampoo, add extra behind ears and nape of neck, scrub in and leave 5mins. Conditioner and nit comb and rinse out, add tea tree behind ears and nape of neck. This kills adults but not eggs. Repeat every 2 days for 14 days. Keep hair tied up, hot wash bedding and steam teddies and pillow and mattress. Tell Micah to keep head away from other kids, tell teacher so whole class can treat or it will keep going around.

We have our twins in kindergarten, and with our little girl we are just keeping her long hair up either in some kind of braid or pigtails or a ponytail and that has worked at keeping fingers out of her hair to prevent the spread. Also keeps the strands from dangling making those suckers harder to jump onto her head. It is a trick our mom did with us girls when we were kids and we never had lice as kids. 🤞

We fought lice in my daughter's class many times because a certain child kept coming back with it. After trying everything under the sun I finally figured out what worked. Listerine and tea tree oil. Soak the hair for several hours in Listerine and the wash out using shampoo with tea tree oil. Repeat for two or three days in a row. But always always from now on as long as your girls are in school put 10-20drops of tea tree oil in every bottle of shampoo you buy to keep them away.

I was told by a hairdresser to always rinse the hair in vinegar after washing and spray before school with a sheen hair spray as they can’t attach to the hair shaft, never wear their hair out , plaits/ braids are the best, my daughter never had nits again doing this.

When my kids were young both my girls got lice. I had never had it in my life. I freaked out a little until I figured out how to get rid of it. Make sure you separate hair brushes, bow, ect. Put them in a bag and seal it up for 14 days. They make spray for your furniture and rugs and things you can't wash. Let each child have their own new brush abd teach them not to share them along with hats. Tea tree in the conditioner all the time so they don't get it again. Wash clothes and always dry them good to get rid of any on clothes. We always did another treatment 10 days later to make sure it was gone.

My youngest is biracial and has the thickest hair known to man, and I absolutely dreaded when she came home with lice and honestly, I coated her hair in olive oil and wrapped it in seran wrap and she slept with it. It suffocated them and we washed her hair a cpl times, adding tea tree oil to the shampoo. It worked like a charm!

Please! Try white vinegar rinse after shampooing. It really works. Rinse every time you shampoo. The luce can't attach their eggs to the hair strands. I did this with my kids during lice season. I have 31 grandkids now and none have ever gotten lice by using this natural trick. We also did our indoor pets the same way. Lice are not fussy when they need the blood.

Here’s a neat idea for a Men Try video- Square Food. One of your fellow RU-vidrs, Mia Maples from Canada, just did one with her mom. The food all comes prepackaged in little squares ready to eat. It would be interesting to know what you guys think of that food. It reminds me of stuffed ravioli, without the ravioli!!! Ha. Idk the cost of them. Mia and her mom did this while visiting in California because they don’t ship to Canada. I think this would be a GREAT video for Men Try!! 💕💕💕

All the treatments kill the lice, but not the eggs! I would sit my daughter on the floor have a white pillow case, nit comb and go through bit by bit picking off the eggs. This became a weekly routine! You are not alone in this. When I was a kid 60 years ago we had a nit nurse at school .

(She asked the doctor before doing it, and gave the okay)..and never got lice again. It was an extreme and it was best at that time.. I had bite mark all down my neck. If there is one in the family with lice, treat everyone in the family for lice. Wash their bedding, jackets, coats, hats, scarfs, gloves/mittens, replace their combs/hairbrushes, vacuum all floors, furniture, wash all sofa pillows, throw blankets or seal in a plastic bag, All stuffed animals need to be put in a sealed plastic bag and set in the sun for 2 weeks. Check each family member everyday, repeat treatment once a week. Treat the dog too!

We had a lice breakout a few years ago. After trying to get rid of them 2-3 times on our own we sought out a professional. I live in the Atlanta area and used a company called Lice Ladies. The entire family went in and they made sure every nit and adult was removed. Maybe there is something like this in the Utah area where you live. I would also see if both schools where the girls attend are doing any prevention in their carpets. This is were a lot of the outbreaks come from.

This is exactly why we had short hair through out our school days. Our dad never let our hair grow during school. They cant easily find people short hair. So we avoided most of the lice episodes, when they wen through our school. Another great tip is to get some good quality olive oil and use a lice comb through the girls hair. The lice cant breath in the oil and the comb helps to get any eggs too

Jess just add a few drops of tea tree oil just to the bottle of shampoo you use for the girls because lice HATE tea tree oil and I know it’s not a fix the problem when they have an active infestation but it will prevent them from wanting to live in their hair and it might even be beneficial to add some to yours and Austin’s shampoo and while I know that Lucas is kinda too little to have essential oils in his shampoo since he stil is a baby but once he gets to be about two you can probably start doing it to his stuff too

I know when my son was in school , they had it going around. I would always put gel or hair spray in his hair, because I heard lice don’t like “dirty” hair! So with using products like that he never got it. Could’ve been just lucky!

I put tea tree oil in my shampoo, conditioner and even in my hair spary. I also got told to put a dot of it behind my ears. I have never gotten it back.

I briefly scrolled through the comments just to see if it had already been said, but be cautious using essential oils around pets. If I remember right it's worse for cats than dogs, but in any case, I just wanted to make sure it was brought up for safety reasons

If I remember right, Page always will do a wiggle dance when she started eating real food. (Sorry could not think what else to call it,... I'm in need of coffee) And I she still doses it at when I see her eating. ❤

I sure hope all the lice is gone right now. When I was a teacher and kids in the class had lice, we asked the parents to put their children't jackets, hats, gloves.....all clothing) to be put in bags at school so they wouldn't rub against other children's clothing and let the lice transfer. It really helped. Love and hugs from Norway!

Ugh I used to get lice all the time as a kid it’s messy and gross so sorry the girls have to deal with it sadly that kind of thing spreads like wildfire in schools, I’m glad you and Austin got some one on one time with Lucas I can’t believe he’s almost 1 already also his fluffy hair is so adorable it reminds me of his sisters hair when they were his age!

Sadly some parents don’t do their kids so all the rest suffer in the school, we used to have a lice letter go out on a Friday if any found in the class ❤❤❤❤❤❤

The biggest thing with lice is pulling off all the lice eggs. It works well outside in sunlight because they are pearly and shine in light. If you miss any, the oils won’t kill them and they will hatch.
