the CC, CT, TT variants are like the punnet squares you did in highschool with the snap peas. Caire is CC, Ali is CT, and C is dominant, so if you two have kids there is a 100% chance to have the C trait. Your kids would have a 25% chance to be CT and 75% to be CC.

The spit scene at the beginning reminded me of my histology subject in my previous degree. With a PAS stain you have to break down the polysaccharides in tissue like intestine so that only the neutral mucus can be seen, and the most ready source of enzyme to do that is amylase - in your saliva. So we all had to sit there and spit into test tubes to get enough to cover a few microscope slides. Apparently in real labs when they have to do hundreds of slides in a PAS stain they go around to everyone working in the lab to gather spit. On another hand, I thought 23&me were no longer allowed to show you your health risk because people started worrying about their future and making drastic decisions like a double masectomy.
