Welcome to the official Roll with Cole & Charisma RU-vid channel! Since the start of our relationship we've gotten a lot of questions about our experiences as not only an interracial couple, but an interabled one as well. As a veteran of 29 cruises, I am shocked that they still have not adapted the tenders. If the ship were sinking and they needed would have to carry you ? It’s sad. The rock slide happened about 2 months ago and most ships are tendering or skipping the port. You don’t have to step back on your statement. My dad was limited in his later life as well due to this.

I understand! I was in a cave with my adult children and was so excited . They said it was accessible and no it was not. The slime on the walkway in the cave was making it impossible for me to have the wheels move. There were rails to keep ones from falling over 100 foot drop like myself! My two children and a nurse and her husband pulled me through the cave for an hour to the exit. The poor nurse who I have no idea who she was kept being bumped into the railing on the side. I know she had to have bruises all over her hip and leg and her poor husband I am sure did not expect to spend their time in the cave with me. I lost my dignity and was so embarrassed. So really , it was better for you that they told you that it would not be accessible.

I'm so sorry that they were unable to work out q solution to the smaller boats - but I'm also really glad you voiced your frustrations about the experience. As a society, we have to reconcile with the fact that when we don't make things accessible for everyone, it's actually a choice 🤷🏾‍♀️ and not a good one. I also totally get the frustration of successfully completing so many transfers safely and then you see this and it's not really a big deal. I really hope the people in design hear this as valid critique and look at how to make options or to use ones that are already there (like a ramp for stair cases) and make changes. Love this vlog 🥰

I am so pleased that the ship staff had your safety at heart. I am sure that they were considering their liability and how terrible they would feel if something terrible happened to you guys. If you had insisted, they may have had you to sign a liability waiver. Not sure if they do that. Extremely happy that you are having a blast. 😍

I can’t help thinking there’s probably a way though. Some kind of accessible way if only they were determined enough. A stop at a different port or jetty they could’ve got to, or a simple hoist, you know?

Start planning on doing a cruise soon! Most Cruiselines have some senior fares that you could take advantage of, and there are sales all the time! Cruises are not that expensive, especially if you look for those!

I'm so sorry! My husband also is a full time wheelchair user and those tenders are always such a disappointment. We were supposed to cruise to Alaska this year as well, but Carnival changed the ship at the last moment and the new one wouldn't accommodate our family of 3 in an accessible cabin. As fabulous as cruises are for wheelchair users, when something goes wrong, it has the ability to ruin your trip.

I’m so sorry you guys missed your train ride. That is one of my biggest fears about going on a cruise too. I feel like there should’ve been some communication to you guys ahead of time about that but I’m glad they at least tried to make up for it and that you still made the best of it.

I hope the cruise ship management sees this video and acknowledges that maybe they could have a couple portable ramps available stowed away on the ship that may have resolved the issue of getting Cole onto the tender. I'm not sure that would have worked, but at least it would have been an option they could have considered. I'm really glad you shared this experience and I'm sorry you missed out on that train trip. It's good they sought to try to make some amends, but they need to have a backup plan for this eventuality. I also wanted to say that I really appreciated how reasonable and rational you both were about what was clearly a frustrating situation. One of the many reasons why I love your channel!

Awesome vlog as always!! Huge bummer for not being able to do the train ride. 😞 Those are situations where in that particular instance, they should invest in installing a ramp there. I am happy to hear though that they will able to still make a nice experience for you two! By the way, WHO DOES drink 15 drinks in a day?! Then the ship employee overhearing you and asking if you wanted another one? Literally made me lol! 😂 I need a nice trip like this for myself! Although my dad for sure wants to do an Alaskan cruise. Another channel I watch (daughter has Autism), they travelled the United States. One of their stops was in Glacier National Park. They went at the end of July and they were freezing. But after seeing their video I want to go see it for myself and now your video makes me want to go on that cruise. Showing people different experiences allows those people to know what’s out there to do and see.

(Mildly rhetorical question) If there is an emergency and they need to evacuate using the tenders, how do they get Cole safely off the boat and onto the tender? I think this is the perfect opportunity for the crew to sharpen their training.

This makes me think it was more of a liability concern rather than an accessibility issue. In an emergency, saving his life would outweigh the risks of possible injuries, but otherwise, it's an unnecessary risk that could end up with him possibly injured, or them being sued.

It's my first comment to you. I already love you both because I saw you with Hannah and Shane and I've been asking them so many times to say whether or not they ever plan to go on a cruise. They haven't answered that yet but you guys answered it for me because I recently am unable to walk and I thought if I ever get the opportunity and the money I would like to go on a cruise funny enough it was the Alaskan cruise that I was wanting to go on lol. I really think you should have let Cole yell, 'Whale!', for us, lol Glad they were able to have you look at what the issue was with the tender and that they comped you other activities. Frustrating still but hopefully they didn't know about the rockslide before you booked and then just didn't mention the obstacle. That would really have upset me. It's so beautiful there. I've been to Skagway about 30yrs ago. All I remember is spraining my ankle walking up a hill. I had family that lived in Yukon, so we visited there a few times :)
