AS OF 7AM MARCH 19 WE ARE WAY WAY BEYOND OUR GOAL!! this is so wonderful. we will keep raising! the UN is calling this the worst humanitarian crisis since ww2. currently more than 20 million people in 4 countries face starvation. all of the money we raise will go towards purchasing and delivering goods. we will NOT be giving the fund$ to any governments. we are working with the American Refugee Committee to organize logistics. THANK YOU SO MUCH. more info here - www.gofundme.com/LOVEARMYFORSOMALIA
OMG!!! AS OF 9AM MARCH 18 WE ARE AT $919,172 !!!!! we will keep raising. all of these funds will go to those effected by this drought in East Africa. we are working with NGOs on the ground there to help distribute. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HAS CONTRIBUTED. and if you cannot contribute funds you can help too by sharing what's happening in East Africa, this is a crisis that is not receiving enough attention. thank you all again.
I am from Somalia and I will never forget the Turkish people how to helping us thank you for everything 1 love my really people Somalia will be great again انشالله I love Turkish people 💟👍
Wiilka Riyada An airline is helping you. Not ethnicity. I am Turkish myself but lets admit that Turkish Airlines were forced into it. If they resisted to help people would hate them.
22,000 children die a day of hunger and water borne illnesses. A. DAY. thats 8 million a year. I read this the other day and it really changed my perspective...just having a home and food to eat makes me and US so rich and it also gives us all tremendous opportunity and responsibility to help those in need
guys I'm somali Guy i know what is going on somalia no food no water no nathing casey you always did good things thanks guys for you helping somali People thanks
Please fill it up with some birth control. This isn't meant to be cruel or a joke. Preventing future people from starving to death would help humanity.
If you read you'll understand YOU payed the taxes that funded the invasion. YOU use the products shipped using oil. Its our culture that has us blowing up the middle east, our addiction to energy. Thats why fuck heads like ISIS radicals dont pick or choose targets. They go after us because WE are responsible. Every dollar is a vote. iM not voting for a country that supports violent forces like ISIS. Get off your fucking pedistal the world is cruel. You chose to displace yourself from the cruelty. That does not absolve you. We aree all cruel and short sighted.
The thing is though people in less developed countries have lots of children because, although sad as it may be, a lot of children will die from things like disease. Also, they can't afford to just not have children because they need people to help them work, so even if birth control was a choice in these less developed countries I doubt people would take it
As a Somalian myself, Somalia has been suffering for decades. Though a meaningless and stupid civil war to rejecting help from organisations like the UN. I pray to God Somalia can be a better place, for all of us.
For a RU-vidr that has 1 million subs like yourself, You should NEVER ask for 'Likes' just so that you can donate. Shame on you. Its a fucken charity to help people from suffering. Just saying.........
I will say this about Jerome, he's not much of a vlogger, but he's a good human being with a heart of gold. Thanks for reminding some of us that it only takes ONE person to start a movement. Great use of your popularity.
actually they do, whether it be Karma, access to heaven, better next life, even seeing someone smile. There is always a return. Even saints expect a return. All I know is, a person who became a millionaire because of his popularity, is using his popularity to make more millions.
it must be so draining and soul destroying to forever be envious of other people and have to put them down all the time. Whether you believe it or not but there really are people out in this big wide world that do give and not expect anything in return. A smile would be a bonus but not expected.
Salute to Jerome Jarre, Ben Stiller, Casey Neistat and all the people involved in this noble effort. Our planet has the enough resources to feed TWO MORE PLANETS. The world's 300 Richest Men can feed the entire planet. But we don't have to wait for them, we in our own little ways, can do this. Don't ask ourselves if we can donate or not, as Casey himself said: #DoWhatYouCant
I have so much admiration and respect for Jerome and these incredible guys. Jerome saw a problem in the world and immediately stepped up to the plate to take it on. Change is in our actions, not our words.
Of all the things to do, people are complaining about who Casey is helping, and how he is helping them. How about instead of complaining, take initiative, and raise money for a cause that you think is better. Hating on what other people are doing, especially people who could have the option to not care at all, is ridiculous. Just because someone had enough energy and love in their heart to do something, and you don't, it doesn't mean you have to go criticize them when they try to do good. Like if you think this has some truth to it, if any at all. @CaseyNeistat
HiltonMotel do you think this is the only charity he's donated to? LoL. Also it's not his responsibility work and give it all away. What sense does that make?! I'm no one to tell anyone what they should do with money they worked for. Hell, no one is going to tell me how I spend mine. I don't really donate since I'm in a higher tax bracket. The government already gives a large chunk of my money to the poor for me. 😂😂😂😂😐
You should check out charitytab.okorana.org That's an web extension that generates money for charity organizations just by surfing the web. That's an amazing resource for people who can't afford donate much money but are willing to help. Please like it so more people can see it.
I'm from Somalia, and I just want to say Thank you guys for being there when we need you the most, Thank you for helping us go through this, Thank you for being genuine family 💚 love from Somalia
This is amazing that they are actually using social media in a positive way! it is only 9 hours in and already $524,223 of $1.0M! *I Don't live in Africa but Thank you so much*
Noah Stemann Somalia. Africa is a continent, and only the eastern part of it is dealing with drought. Somalia is the country we're trying to help. Please learn the difference.
So many financially irresponsible people in this country. There are neighbors that could use some of that money. Schools that are teaching some of these peoples kids that could use it. Instead they are doing the trendy thing right now and giving it to Casey and his goons is HOPES that most of it will go to food. Well congrats guys, by this time next year SOmalia will be in the exact same position as they are now.
+Crystal Who are you to assume he doesn't know the difference. He said he doesn't live *on the same continent* but he still is thankful. You are not very perceptive but quick to tell someone to learn something.
Landing cargo planes in Mogidishu Somalia is the first leg. Getting the food distributed safely to rural areas without being blown up by Al Shabab is the next leg, guys.
twelge15 Yes, buying food and shipping it is the easy part. Distributing even that 60 tons, which is nothing really when it comes to food, in a country riddled with terrorists and corrupt this and that isn't easy. If you'd properly want to distribute 1mil usd worth of food, you'd probably need five times as much people to, preferably peacekeepers or similar, to distribute it.. Even then it's only 60 tons. Quick calc says 60 tons of rice (about 6-7 million kcal) would only feed 30k people for a day. You'd be better of with a container ship and about 500 containers..
Just to mention that Casey forgot to mention that this is a man made disaster. One not solely in anyway linked to drought, but rather the conflict that is occurring in the region, limiting the ability for aid organisations to get in and help. Look at Yemen where Saudi Arabian forces have blown up the main ports infrastructure, so aid cannot be offloaded. The problems in east Africa and southern Arabia run far more deep than drought! Still great effort i wish them luck, i just hope it is not just another Hollywood backed vanity project.
You forgot to research that they are already partnered with charity organisations on the ground who have the means, the routes and the resources for distribution.
It's so inspiring to see how Jerome and Juanpa are humble, helpful, generous and kind guys... Becoming famous has only helped them help the ones in need. Not taking anything away from all other people as everyone helps in their own way. Thanks for all the people that are supporting and #TurkishAirlines #Casey If everyone keeps helping the ones in need not only Somalia, we may one day all be happy and living in a peaceful place.
Casey, thanks for bringing this to my attention. Happy to financially support this. I love to see how social media can be used for such good. And as a proud airline employee, love to see the generosity of the airline community!
At this rate, they will be at 10 million in 10 days! I wish I could be a big youtuber just so I could help in a more impactful way than a few dollars... Much respect for all of you guys
Well why don't you? Start a youtube channel based entirely on all the ways you find that people could help those in need. Research the charities or whatever you would feature and do a different one each month. You would be building a fan base of the most awesome, selfless you tubers and raising awareness for some incredible and deserving charities.
Will we all be getting to see footage of the plane being filled and allso the food landing in somalia and being given to the less fortunate ?? I think that would be a big part filming that in raising awearness !
these two boys were so damn cute.. and ugh ben stiller.. what a legend .. thanks to all who donated and are a part of this. sending the world tons of love, unity and peace
I've seen the comments and I came to the conclusion that people cannot be open minded. These deed you guys are doing is one of the nicest things I've seen. If it was you that was starving and had no food, one Bottle of water and some bread would feel like a gift from god. I remember reading a story about how little things can make a difference. There was a beach with millions of starfish that washed up onto the beach, a little girl was throwing one starfish into the water at a time, a man approached her and asked why you are doing this, there are millions of starfish, you won't make a difference. The little girl replied but the ones I did throw back into the water, it made a difference for them.
MLMS Where is god and his gifts regarding the people starving in Somalia (or any other place for that matter)? Oh yes, I almost forgot: "God works in mysterious ways".
You can't protect these people. The food will be stolen, it's only a matter of time. How about to tell your government to stop funding terrorism. Tell Turkey to stop funding and exporting terrorism.
In the U.K. we have a charity called Comic Relief, every other year it raises 10s of millions £ in a single night to go to third world countries like Ethiopia and since 1988 it has raised over £1bn. Nothing has changed with regards to these countries, nothing will until the governments change their ways BUT it doesn't mean that charities shouldn't keep raising money. If people want to give then there will always be a need somewhere.
Amal 1 this is a massive charity faced by countless high profile Celebrities, I doubt they'd get away with lining their pockets. www.comicrelief.com/ it's actually happening again this Friday.
Blend That Film they will be documenting everything and they promised that every penny goes to these people so i trust them more than i trust UN or these big charities.
Nothing has changed? Ethiopia is much, MUCH better off than it was in the 90's, and in part, it is thanks to charities like the one you just diminished without any factual evidence. My factual evidence? Google Ethiopia 1990's and Ethiopia today. There is HOPE and optimism and well fed people there today. There was only despair and starvation two decades ago.
My brother is from Ethiopia🇪🇹 and I saw first hand all the starving kids that are there. It is heartbreaking to see all of those CHILDREN just sitting on the streets starving to death. They are literally dying from starving and yet we are complaining about not having the latest iPhone. COME ON! WAKE UP! We seriously should get our priorities straight. I love what y'all are doing and I'm glad that more attention is being brought to the situation in these countries!
koshka marvel I also agree that education is key. Very much. But to say that these people who have kids need to have responsibility for them and inferring that's Somali parents don't take responsibility for their children is fucking stupid and disgusting. Parents are starving so their kids can have a piece of bread or a cup of water. I know so many parents who died because they went out looking for food thus, got killed or passed out never to wake up again. How the hell were they supposed to know that the drought since 2011 would get worse? How? Did you know the future? Many of these parents love their kids and are crying for help not for themselves but so their children can survive. Since you were saying education is key..why don't you go learn a few things?
Thank you so much Turkish airlines !!! Thanks also to Jerome, Ben, Casey and everyone involved. What a great thing to do for mankind. I wish there were more people like you all. YOU ALL ROCK !!! Love you all ❤❤❤🤗🤗🤗😘😘😘
I started to work about 5 months ago. I don't have or make a lot of money but I'm privileged enough to be able to still live with my parents where they provide pretty much everything all I spend my money on is gas and food. I've never donated to any cause ever before not because I didn't care but because I just didn't. Something about this movement made me feel like I needed to help, because if a large group of people do small good then that ends up being a giant help for anyone in need. I gave $10 and I really hope you guys can continue doing this for other important movements
You should check out charitytab.okorana.org That's an web extension that generates money for charity organizations just by surfing the web. That's an amazing resource for people who can't afford donate much money but are willing to help.
Tom Kilgannon dont be afraid of dislikes. A man with no enemy is a man with no cause. Take the constructive part out of their criticism and throw away the rest with their fears passivity and cynism. Listen to them, they can only say sentences starting by "what about". They are incapable of saying "here is what we can do about". Only whining no solutions.
Everyone out there saying there are more important things, go and get the funds yourself then and help those who you want to help. The Somalian famine is real, therefore the money goes to a good cause. What Jerome does is amazing! A pure act of ❤️ Thx Casey for supporting him.
The Somalian famine is caused by political instability and civil war. Sending food doesn't do anything against that, especially since you can't distribute it anyway. Its just a stupid ass publicity stunt by idiots.
I always get so nervous posting on these videos because there are a thousand people ready to write terrible things on your comments! Spread the love! The more these social influencers do this kind of thing the better the world will be!
I did add a comment and I really don't give a sh*t what the naysayers post. There's always someone that comments with negativity and ignorrance. Glad you posted, we need more people like us to 'out' these idiots! 👊
GoFundMe will make over $80k from this. 7.9% fee + $0.30 per donation. If they used another platform they might not make the 1M so maybe that's the justification for using GoFundMe.
Lets not forget the power and profit of those war lords who will be sure to see that those supplies never even reach those starving people. LoL Oh wait that already happen in 1993 "we are the world" Sing it now... "We are the world" everyone on MTV sing it now.
CaseyNeistat How will they make sure the people who need it will get the food with all the War lords and corruption in Somalia? I think you should get some people who operate in Somalia to make sure this does not end in disaster!!
ITS the first thing i thought. They are going to hijack that food and sell it in Kenya at the border! I swear to you. If they dont partner with the UN this will all be for nothing.
masskilla469 Valid point but i think Turkish airlines will help them a lot with those issues. But needless to say the warlords as you said you just ruin the fluency of this task.
How could Turkish airlines help in that aspect? Somalia is a lawless country with tyrannical War lords. I am not trying to ruin the fluency of this task at all these are valid points and do not want to see such a wonderful humanitarian act end up in Disaster.
This is such a wonderful iniciantive, kudos to everyone involved! However, as someone working with NGO's for a long time I have to say this requires some thought out logistics. Who and how will they distribute all this resource? Somalia pretty much has no stable government and corruption+guerrillas run the place. Outsiders are regularly kidnapped and if careful steps are not taken they might end up sponsoring corruption. Getting the money is not the biggest challenge, making sure it goes to the right people is.
They are only going to be funding the African Warlords. Nothing will change until the rich whites there in africa care about everyone other than themselves.
Thank you for writing such a sensible comment! This is obviously an incredibly complex situation and something that none of us could really understand without actually being there to experience it and study it first hand. But the fact is, we can't just be complacent because the situation is complicated. If nothing else, this initiative has raised awareness and motivated people to care. I hope they seek expert advice and work hard to ensure that starving people are fed. Period.
That's great to hear Alexander. I bet they'll have the expertise to properly distribute the resources. The CEO at the NGO I work with, World Mobilization, was just in Somalia. He's a doctor. The gangs swept the coutry that week and kidnapped many westerners, they only left him alone because he was treating Somalis at a makeshift hospital in the middle of nowhere.
This is awesome, thank you for contributing even just by making this sort of stuff a huge echo. We need more stuff like this. Thank you Jerome, Juanpa, Ben, Casey and of course Turkish Airlines.
Hey Casey, really cool idea. Who will deliver the food to the people of Somalia? And stop it getting in to the wrong hands and used as power against the poor. Cheers boss
The fundamental flaw in all of these 3rd world programs. Happens all the time with those dollars you donate. Ends up in some scumbags hands who then uses it to buy weapons to slaughter a village. But at least you get to *feel* like your helping. Funny how people have been "helping" for decades, and yet things get worse and worse.
You are putting forward positive intentions, and have engaged in an internet discussion, while maintaining a civil discourse. You are leaps and bounds ahead of most of the internet.
*Casey* I truly admire his passion towards work which might seems to be easy but takes a lot of hard work behind the scenes, I know this for a fact being a small content creator too, it takes a lot to do what he does for his followers
K.I.A. Eclipse because what's 1million for these people? Casey...Ben Stiller and other famous........? it's dumb donating to them if they really wanted to help they could do it.... no need the coverage...
Funny how on the internet everyone can't help but focus on each little counter arguments, even with such a selfless and noble cause (save peoples life) , the glass isn't always half empty :)
Best Compilation: it looks like humor might be a new concept to you, it was a joke, what I meant is that 100 bucks is a huge amount for me, I didn't actualy emptied my bank account, have fun being a douche :)
The Majority of the world saw this story about Somalia on International News but the story didn't stay fresh and upfront. It got over shadowed by other stories. Thanks for helping to keep the Somalia situation fresh in the minds of the people. I'll definitely share he GOFUNDME link.
Colin donated 0.066 % of his networth of $38 Million. Way to go! This encourages us average guys so much! If Benstiller donates 1/100th of his total $120 Million worth and Casey donates 1/20th of his total $25 Million worth .. they can save Somalia two times with $2 Million. They want to encourage other people to do it. Okay, but do let us know how much you rich guys contributed with proof because that is such a big encouragement to us average guys. Thank you.
CravinMorehead420 So what that it's a tax write-off, I don't think people understand how tax write-offs work, it's not like he gets the money back. He saves a small amount off that
What a great excuse to not give. Demonize the rich guys who brought it to your attention in the first place. If you gave a dollar it'd probably be less than 0.1% of your budget. Did you even do that? (By the way, it also counts as a tax write-off for you too.)
The reasons for famines is not because there is not enough food, it's that it's not distributed correctly and so the vulnerable groups of society are unable to gain access. We need to give this short-term help but things structurally have to change so in the long run this is not a reoccurring issue. The only way change happens is if we force it. Work together £££££
Mosh Orown you know why they get 10 kids? Because that's the only security they can get of a semi-comfortable (in Africa terms) elderly life. Those kids can make money to support them.
no it's because the infant mortality rate is so high and in order to have 3 kids alive sometimes you have to have 10. Its really sad but that's the way it works Look at the evidence for yourself - world.bymap.org/InfantMortality.html
What's with all the racism in the comments? I was feeling good and inspired after watching this video but after reading through some comments (hoping to see other people enjoying the good vibes) I just feel sad. Help those who need help. No matter where they're from or what they look like. Race shouldn't even be a factor.
You should check out charitytab.okorana.org That's an web extension that generates money for charity organizations just by surfing the web. That's an amazing resource for people who can't afford donate much money but are willing to help.
Just donated. I think this is an awesome cause and a very well done video. I think it would be great if you could make a video in Somilia with the delivery of the food.
God bless Jerome and everyone involved in this. its one thing for their to be an issue and we empathize and our heart goes out to them but in a couple days, hours even, we are back to our normal routines, meanwhile people are still suffering. this is taking action. the amount of love and respect I have for you guys is immeasurable. thank you for making this world a better place and for being an example for others to do so too
Instead of flying in goods wouldn't it be better to build some greenhouses and dig some wells so they'll have a more sustainable source of food and water? Flying in supplies is a band-aid solution. P.S. Tropic Thunder is the most hilarious movie ever thanks Ben Stiller.
Well, yeah but once that food runs out they are left with the same problems. An ongoing supply of clean drinking water would mitigate the spread of disease and help them grow their own infrastructure.
The famine is caused by a drought, which is short term. Rainfall has been hugely below average for the last few years, so there's no water to fill the wells or sustain the greenhouses. This aid alleviates short term suffering until the drought ends and Somalians can build and use wells and greenhouses.
A safe drinking water source would be tapped from underwater streams not reliant on rain water. People in Somalia are dying from disease due to unclean water as much as starvation.
Casey my good man! I gotta say we LOVE your videos. And what you do to help people in need is super inspiring. In fact you've inspired us to start a channel too! Hoping to one day be able to do what you do, use influence to make the world a better place. Keep crushing it!
I can't even read these comments. Come on people. Imagine yourself in Somalia, you would be starving and dehydrated. You would be pleading for something. And some people in the world think that you are fine. It's a real shame that some people only think about themselves.
Sangheili Entertainment hmmm if I was in somolia I would do what the founding fathers of America did and get the fuck out of the shit hole they are in to get to a new land and start from scratch. People in Africa are so fucking dumb and reliant on America, how did America start? We had hard times but we pushed through and learned how to live on our own. If we had another nation sending us free shit we would still be in small towns almost starving until another nation gave us more shit.
Ninja1inblack Europe and America raped the continent of its resources and drew up shit borders that put conflicting tribes in the same country. None of this would be happening if it weren't for you guys in the first place🙄
- Looks at map of Somalia and sees all the better places that they can go in the big continent of Africa. Now I am not a professional at this whole map thing but it looks like there is a river 100 miles or a 2 - 7 day trip from Somalia. < I may be wrong. I totally support giving them supplies/transportation to move to a better place. Donating to them right now seems like trying to keep a fish that has washed up on dry land alive just by splashing water on it every once in a while. This is what I meant in my last comment, I think they have gotten dependent on America donating to them. I few decades ago America did this thing where people would donate and the government would match what people donated in the billions but look where they are at now... They must think, hey... we can live here and America will keep feeding us. Now I agree Africa is not the best place to live but then again look at Arizona and all these other dry country's.
I am somilian I live In London I heard so much about the drought and its so so unforcante to heard that my people are dying because of Somalias drought when I saw this baring in mind your one my fafavorite youtuber seeing you helping my country is amazing❤much love❤🌍
Why so much hate on this video ? Sure, it may not fix the entire problem - but at least they're helping. They're making a difference and inspiring others to initiate change. How is this negative at all?
陰茎RawishKiwi I know. people keep saying "help the USA first" but USA poverty is nothing like Africa's poverty. at least the USA is a first world country and less fortunate people there have access to help
I guess you do not realize that the warlords in Africa will end up with most of the supplies like they have done in the past and the people who needed the food will get nothing.
danogzilla what the fuck is wrong with you. I know that we cant fix the problem, but if we don't even try we lose our humanity. sorry for my bad english i hope u can understant what i want to tell you.
Why are people going against this saying "Oh they should do this" or "Oh worry about yourself" which is absolutely disgusting if you are going against giving help to innocent staving people. A lot of things they can't do down their due to the economy and the way it is down their. Unlike first world countries these people can't speak out against it as much as we can. They live in one of the poorest countries in the world they can't just hop on a plane and leave at any moment. Thank you for bringing a voice to this cause I had absolutely no idea it was happening and my wishes go out to those people who are struggling.
Most people won't see this comment but people need to realize that GIVING/DONATING is a privilege that we have to feel more connected to humanity. Sure Casey could get find a few billionaires to donate but then he would be robbing us of this opportunity to step in and not buy that $5 cup of coffee and give it to a large amount of people in dyer need!
Exactly... which is why better to send money to established NGOs that have the logistics and experience to handle aid. There are many organizations that have the skills to get aid, if they had more money available. I'd send money instead to Oxfam International, Red Cross, UNICEF, Doctors without Borders. Main thing perhaps is bringing some attention to people who get their news from RU-vid and social media. I'm glad he at least mentioned Sudan, which is worse off right now than Somalia.
I'm not sure how old Jerome is but he looks pretty young ( teenager perhaps) he could be doing bunch of other things people his age do Instead he came up with this humble thought! My God! So proud of him🤗 Thank you so much and God bless you all and help you continue doing this great work.
World isn´t a pink cube of happiness... Deal with it. They can only supply food to very limited group of people and there is a very high chance of Terrorist groups stealing the food or destroying the supplies.
when you provide an unsustainable source of food to an area, a population spike follows, which in turn creates the need for more food. And it continues. it's a vicious circle
