We have 99 problems and not having a farm fence is one! Our pasture is in the midst of being fenced in and along with us for the ride is Leon, our loving 250lb ram who watches closely as we work to complete our project.
We are a couple who are building our own home from the ground up in the mountains of West Virginia. After living near the city our entire lives we finally decided to sell it all, pack up our 3 kids and live in an RV on our 73 acres while building our own debt free, off-grid house and learning to live a more self-reliant life.
Our house build is documented entirely on our main channel "Wild Wonderful Off-Grid" and our family life vlogs can be found on our secondary channel "Wild Wonderful After Show"

Leon is the most loving 250 lb Ram I've ever seen. He's giving back the love you have shown him and then some. Great job on the fencing. It looks fantastic. Agree with Mitchell Wolrich on investing in some reflectors to add to the top of the posts to increase visibility at night.

Has to be the friendliest RAM ever, of course he’s almost too “needy”, but you gotta love Leon ❤️❤️❤️👍😂 BTW, you might want to add a few reflectors to the top of the fence posts (maybe on both sides) so if you’re 4 wheeling at dusk the fence will be visible, it’s a low cost way to get a little bit of visibility to the structure

Yeah, Leon acts more like a dog than a Ram. He is definitely entertaining to watch. I bet if a intruder showed up, they would get a rude awakening from Leon charging them, lol. You can tell Leon loves them like a dog loves his family.

@@kiwibob223 yeah, sheep are not the smartest of livestock, when compared to hogs and cattle. But any animal if you work and spend time with them, can be very intelligent. Leon is quite amazing with how he interacts with them like a dog would. Many years ago we had a pet pig on our farm, that was just like a dog.

Leon has anxiety separation problems! LOL. He means well and as Zack commented Leon knows what is going and is doing his best to thwart it. Keep at it and eventually even with Leon interrupts it will be done! Glad to see Carter taking on responsibilities for the animals it shows you are both good role models for him and the other two.

As a father myself to a 6yr old boy, I can say it's rewarding to see our kids grow up and do things on their own. At the same time I definitely reminisce the days he was a baby! You guys deserve all the happiness in this world. Thanks for providing us a walk along into your journey!

Looks great!!! Just my 2 cents of worthless info: - drill some holes in the bottom of the battery holder maybe to drain rain water - just to be safe - Why not fix the solar panel bar vertically to the side. And have the angled piece coming over the pole, slope side to the south, and mount the panel like that. Won't look better, exactly the same, but no risk of hitting it with the truck, as there's no long piece outside the pole.

It would be interesting to see you guys do a video on how you balance your hours in a week between the major areas of your time. Meaning how many hours do you budget to what I think of as Homestead Improvement Projects (like the fence or the animal pens) vs House Build vs Homestead Maintenance Work/Projects vs Daily Homestead Work vs Home Schooling Time and so on. I get the impression that you guys are very well organizing which is how you seem to manage it all and still have quality family time.

Build is looking awesome and i cant believe how much the kids have grown up since you started to build the house. It's been a memorable journey you have invited us along with and a huge huge thank-you for sharing this with us. You should do a video or 2 with a gopro on leon's neck or somewhere on him so we can see a glimpse of the world through his eyes. I think that would really be a brilliant side video :)

I have that same fence. Solar gate, it's great. When it snows and your coming home, click the remote and you're in your property and cars stay out.

The hardest part of being a homesteader/farmer is when you lose an animal or lose an entire crop, because your feed, weed, guide, and watch that plant or animal grow. And though you can always replant seeds, and buy more chicks or goats or cows that first round is always the hardest to lose.
