I’m from the old school. We’ve always bought what we like. It’s the new collectors who only care about hype. They don’t care about OG’s, that started it all.

I collect bricks proudly , only person I want to influence buying is myself only person I care what you wear is myself. Unless you ask for my opinion which basically RU-vid does a lot of times via these comment sections I don’t care what shoe is selling for I’m a proponent of buy what you like and most of the people doing all that brick talk are people that don’t really have any shoes to begin with. They call everything a brick..

At the end of the day, people that feel the need to put people down for what they wear, are often the most insecure. Keep rocking what YOU think is fire. I have worn so called "bricks", and have received tons of compliments on them.

Once people started treating sneakers like stocks it went downhill imo, most of the narrative spoken about comes from post tiktok enthusiasts, with that being said producing content such as; weekly sneaker rotations, sneakerhead confessions (shoutout Yoanty one of the best to ever do it) things where your able to show the way you style the “bricks” I think can move the needle into the right direction.

Hypebeast are the ones calling shoes that don’t have resell value bricks. They’re not in it because they genuinely love shoes; but to make money and fit in & follow trends. Honestly idc if a shoe has hype, I buy what I like and wear ALL my shoes. But these new hypebeast are the where these issues are stemming from.

A shoe can be a GR and be hype though. We see it monthly. Weekly even LOL! But folks should buy what they want and rock what they want and not care about hype. But. We know that's not the case with everyone. Not every shoe has to have hype behind it. And bricks are subjective. I don't care for Mike Rich referring to shoes as Jordan Nothings or Nathaniels because they're not hype shoes. But a lot of "bricks" SELL that allow companies to make those "hype" shoes on your feet, my feet, and people who rock what they want. I agree though you shouldn't call a shoe a brick bc it doesn't resell well. But people will continue to do it anyway.

A brick to me is a sneaker that is trash and is gonna sit because it’s a wack ass sneaker to the general public, for example the reimagined royals, they are bricks, no one really got them and they sat, but it’s a dope sneaker to me.
