What a roll you’re on with daily content. Great content making us aware of everything involved with running a dairy. Thanks for inviting us in to the daily routine of you and your family. Maybe show us the process of the dairy truck at the milk processing plant or the processing.
I absolutely enjoyed it Jan when you made your Dad laugh from deep in his Soul @ 12:00 ! That was a wonderful moment shared by you two! Glad The SaskDutch Kid Posse got to be present as well! With so many things going happening on the Farm most days, it's very cool that you and your Dad could spend a few hours together working the combine and really thoughtful of you all to not bother your mechanic on his vacation! No surprise in how thoughtful The Whole Family is about others and your surroundings! Cheers From COW-lumbus, Ohio
So glad you guys are getting the much needed straw. Luv ur dads sense of humor. That was a beautiful sunset. Enjoying the daily vlogs. Appreciate all ur hard work.
It is so nice father and and son working side by side miss doing things with my dad he has been gone 23 years enjoy every moment with your family mom and dad
Great job Jan! Dad says he isn't an expert but he is always checking things and making sure it is going right. That makes him an expert.Try and keep up with the sleep eh!😄
No break down and grain in the bin you two can get it done, so before air conditioning we would put up the window and get out of the truck if it was too hot 👍✌🏻🇺🇸
❤ your Dads laugh...so Hearty. He's face lit up 😁. I appreciate the daily videos when you can find the time. Please do not stress if you miss a day or two. I'm sure others will agree that you Won't lose Us if you do. Life Happens. Lol 😉😘☺️👋
Brent could be heard exclaiming as he watched this video from his camper. “ Those Buggers “! I am sure there isn’t much you and your Dad can’t do, also can’t wait to see that field covered with straw bales.
Mother Nature ruling everything, I wish you the best in years to come! the HEAT we have now & am not used to... is here now and temperatures are rising! I hope you & your family keep the FAMILY business going for centuries to come xo I will be here watching you all🐄
Combines always amaze me. How they separate the grain from the plant is really clever. Seeing the interaction between you and your Dad is heartwarming. Love the daily videos, but make sure you have enough time to unwind and relax also. We understand. Thanks till next time.
I don't know so I'm asking, my questions are based on other farm videos I have watched. 1. Why are you swathing before combining? 2. Why do you not dump the combine on the run instead of stopping to unload. Thank you for any response / clarification.
I loved the close ups of how the combine works while it’s running. I would love it if you could tell us or show us how the seeds are separated from the plant. Great video as always! 😊
Hi Jan, good vid, never thought i’d see you not knowing anything about a job that needs doing! But it was great to see you and father having a laugh together, keep up the good work you really are the best ‘utuber’ for me, always look forward to your contents. 🏴 John, North Wales UK.
Can you explain why you drop the crop first and than pick it up again. Never saw this kind of combining before. Usually its the big spinning heads with the cutters. Interesting to see! 👌🏻
Hi Jan, great show and hopefully a very good harvest. I always thought that the combine would cut the wheat and then separate the straw out of the bac k of the combine, but you have cut it first and then picked it up with the combine. Greetings from Australia
Love the New Holland combines. New Hollands have been on my dads farm since I was a we young lad, i'm 58 yrs old this year ,farm life the best life. Smiles 😃 from Ontario 🇨🇦
I was wondering why you used the swather on the corn before combining instead of just using the combine You're daily videos are awesome Jan really enjoyed watching them Keep them coming Best wishes from Ireland 🇨🇮
Like it? We are fascinated! No matter what you say, you absolutely know what you were doing. Managing that huge combine. Loved your fathers hearty laugh. He is a superstar. And these videos every day are appreciated but don't cut yourself short on your sleep please.
I appreciate all your hard work not only on the farm, but behind the editors chair! You've had some great videos come out recently, quality and content are great!
I do love Dad's hat. I think I think that laugh he knows more about combining than he is letting on. The daily videos aregreat, but I am sure no one will mind if you miss one because you are ultra busy. The combine here until quite late into the night, it is quite bizarre suddenly seeing the headlights in the middle of a field when you are driving down a narrow road, or finding you have to back up for quite a distance in the dark because you come face to face with a combine. Here the combines cut as well and dump out on the move.
I’m not a farmer but I sure enjoy your videos. Question, it looks like the combine grabs material from the front and dumps it out the back. Then you fill it up and transfer it to the hauling truck. Are you separating the material and keeping the good stuff in the combine to be transferred to the truck while dumping the non used material back on the ground?
You are overlooking what is dumped on the ground has great value. The stalks of these crops produce straw. Vital to dairy farm. They use straw and sand for bedding. Straw is also used in feed for cows that are being dried out. I saw on a Q&A from 2 years ago that they grow the crops that produce straw for the straw and sell the grain for cash crop.
I agree, seeing your dad laugh and have a good time while learning something was great. The grain was nice size that's for sure and ALL THAT STRAW !!! That's a lot of money still left on that field. Who's job will it be to bale it?
Can't ever become efficient enough until you do it many many times!!! It's crazy how over time skill sets can become less and less. It's good to see high spirits and grain flowing!!! Good to see your dad having a good time
It was nice of you to mention Cousin Gary Young in the video. I know his wife appreciates that mention. Keep that New Holland working on the rye. I know you wanted the straw as well. Take care. . . . nice to see you shifting those gears so nicely.
I'm so impressed with you, Sask Kid. So much prep to do the combining and other things on the farm. You have so much know how. I could go on and on about your abilities. I hope your salary is in the six figures.
I’d love to see you taking up the Combing responsibility then you could rent some Land and get yourself going, expanding the Buisness. 👍🏻 It's nice you have a little house and Vehicle, but at your age we had our own Combines, Tractors, and implements. You have a license to print Money at your age when you can use your families equipment to get going.
So enjoy your Dad’s appearances in your videos. He’s a great role model and you can tell he’s invested in the success of the farm. Would love a segment on the family and farm’s history.
Amazing video Jan! Impressed with the thought and consideration you all give to meeting all the challenges of the day. Looks like you both did very well to me. Might be interesting to see Brent's review of your efforts. Long day and you still end up doing some editing to get the video out. Thanks for all your efforts! Well done.
Umm... you are supposed to screen out the foreign debris before doing the moisture test. You should have a screen to do that. Those stems will throw off the moisture and the bushel weight.
@JanKielstra- let’s just say you planted the rye in a north to south direction and you combined it in a west to east direction. Just curious. You have very informative videos a look forward to seeing them! Farm On.
Have you thought about putting one of the GPS receiver for the tractor or swather on the combine so it can make a yield map of the fields.the screen in the combine sould be able to do that and it shouldn't cost anything to do it. The only thing is you might need a cable to go to the GPS receiver. Then you could use the information for putting fertilizer on.
Great streak you are on with your daily postings! You will hit 200,000 subscribers before you know. You might mention to viewers that if they have not already to please subscribe. They say many people watch content but don’t think to subscribe. Do you retain 100% of the crops you grow on the farm for your cows? I grew up on a farm in Missouri in the states. We would grow soybeans and wheat to sell as cash crops. I was wondering if all of the grain types you grow is suitable for cattle feed. It is great that a by product of some of your crops is straw. Thanks for all the work you put into your videos!
Sure am glad that you didn't pick up a piece of wood/log in the combine, everything was going real smooth and that's great. Now you both know a little bit more about combining.
No self doubting at the end of the season. Both you and your dad have enough muscle memory to complete the job. Well done Jan and father. 👍👍👍Thank you for sharing. Take care of yourselves, be safe, and healthy 🇨🇦
The daily videos must take a huge amount of effort. I don't know how you're doing it. I think that's the happiest we've ever seen your dad in one of your videos. That tells me combining must have been going pretty well!
A dead mouse in the cab a week ago could cause a bad smell! 😃 In college I had a friend who was gone for the summer. While he was gone a cat got trapped in his car and died. The smell was amazingly bad! He tried and tried but he never got the smell out either! 😂😂
