I hate the fact that Enphase has produced such an expensive SMALL battery. They could have made it bigger so we would not have to buy two of them. Just one of these batteries is not enough for anyone's system.
Maybe 🤔 they need to find the balance between storage capacity and power output. I think if they’d do a 7.5kWh battery with 3.8kW of power output they’d have a balanced solution.
Hello Dale! Great video by the way! I have a questions regarding getting a battery or batteries added to my solar system. I have NEM 2.0 as I signed up for Solar about a year ago. To add batteries would that take me out of NEM 2.0 and force me to NEM 3.0? Also my current system has IQ7+ Micro-inverters and the Enphase Combiner box. Would this be a seamless install?
Thanks! The good news is you can add a battery to your existing system and it would not affect your NEM 2 status. The bad news is you would need to upgrade your combiner box to the latest 5C model which is compatible with the new 5P battery.
Depends if the installer has access to the usb conversion kit for hardwired comms. You’ll need the cellular modem no matter which is about half the cost of a new combiner 5C
The Enphase battery products really are kinda sad, low energy density and the can't even discharge the battery at 1C. I would have thought they would have made the move to GaN FETs by now to get the power output of the microinverters up to a more reasonable level. Even their microinverter products haven't been keeping up with the NMOT power output of the larger panels.
Not impressed. I suggest you look into the Neovolta battery system. I installed it two years ago with my 24 LG panels and in phase micro inverters and it's been working perfectly. It's 24 kilowatt and over 7 kilowatt output from its inverter. It's a clean install as inputs for DC, AC, generator, grid.
