Amaury, I have a tip that worked for me, to minimize loss of space in a similar situation: after the boiler installation's done, build another wall in front of of it. Access to all the boiler stuff could be created with heavy barn doors on sliders, with heavy duty rollers. On the shop side you can move and rehang stuff, for example moving the racks that hold your bar clamps, long levels, looped extension cords, etc. You might also hang led fixtures back there so nobody has to drag a flashlight around to read gauges. I hope this isn't clear as mud to you!
P.S.: There was one thing I forgot to mention. If there's too big of an arc/swing for the door, that's when you need the sliding hardware. But then there will be a section of wall where the door will slide over it, and ya can't hang things there. So to minimize that bit of loss of space, I stored stuff that can easily be moved, like the moveable wood crib, shop vac, and staging.
NO NO NO! You toast the marshmallow and then put it on the cracker with the chocolate. The warm marshmallow melts the chocolate in just the right way. 😄
As a Girl Scout troop leader I love the new marshmallows they sell now that have the chocolate inside. So good and makes putting together the sandwich much easier.
@micheleyamamoto545 there are cookies similar to Graham crackers that have a lay of chocolate on 1 side, they are sold in the Netherlands. They work really well too because the chocolate is thinner than a chocolate bar so the melted chocolate does not drip as much. Chocolate inside the marshmallows sound delicious as well!
The tradition of this marzipan tart named 'galette des rois': the youngest around the table should go under it, and the person cutting the galette should say: cette part est pour qui? (who's this one for?) and the young one should say: for so and so until all the slices are gone. That's how the porcelaine charm is randomly found by the future queen or king of the Epiphany!
Delightful! Isabel is a tonic and Percy’s comment about the cheese reaching new heights was the quote of the day! Utterly hilarious. The love and laughter is so infectious. Missed Philip, but he can be proud of Stephs place settings. Those plates are stunning! Love to you all! ❤
Ok..to make s'mores you just hold two marshmallows on a stick over a flame until they are golden brown on all sides (idealy) if they burn..or catch fire..just blow them out...they still taste great...put a Hershey chocolate bar on top of a whole Graham cracker ...then push the gooey marshmallows off your stick with another Graham cracker to make a "sandwich" let cool just a bit...then devour...The reason I wrote all this is because we never put the chocolate over the flame WITH the marshmellows.
@@Linda-9037 but I like the idea of having the chocolate inside the marshmallows,,looked good! How bout those fancy sticks. With a spinner on the end! Lol..my dad made mine from tomato garden stakes 🤗
so happy you are helping St.Judes...we have supported them for many years as we have a son, now 38, who has a severe bone disability called Osteogenisis Imperfecta. (if you ever need another wonderful cause to support . ) He has had a painful life but is always a happy caring soul. He works full time to support himself and has been in a wheelchair most of his life. He does research on Climate Change .. Happy New Year Stephanie and Phillip.
I admire you Stephanie, you have so much tenacity , talent, and your hard work are done with a continuous beautiful smile. I now got my mom to watch. She loves it. My favorite and cutest thing you said about your chickens “those poor little darlings” when it was cold outside. I wish I can find that video. You are So sweet.
Ah, thank you SO much for all the joy!! Hahaha, the sheep moving thing… smoother than any other year! 👌👏💪 I can’t wait for the time that there will be Sunday vlogs again, I miss you all. 💝 (spoiled, I know) Love! ❤️
@@amppma7302 If I remember correctly, Stephany has announced that for the month of January, she’ll only do the Thursday vlogs, take the time to recover from the Advent series. 😉
As a Norwegian, I sincerely apologise for you having to eat those things, but at least you didn't have macrell in tomato sauce IN A TUBE. Small comforts. :')
@@karinorth1203 There are two types of Norwegians, and only one of them thinks it's okay to eat mackerel in tomato sauce at work. And I've never seen lutefisk in a tube, for which I'm suddenly incredibly grateful.
It’s a shame that Amoury is losing part of his lovely workshop, but heat is really important. I was also thinking about the fridge, it would be better (ergonomicly) to reverse the opening of the doors to open the other way, just a thought . Xxx❤
Nattie looks so much like her mum. 🌷 St. Jude's is an incredible place. They saved someone in my family 40 years ago. Michelle is now an adult with adult kids of her own. The plates are fabulous! I miss seeing the funky mid century stemware you have. Happy New Year All! So excited to see the gardens in spring!
Dapper Dan saved the day w/his drone🛸 herding🐑 skills. (Do you have a shelter for the sheep in bad weather?) 🙃Always nice to see his snarky self about the place. 💯% approve of Amaury's S'more🍫 Method🔥 too😋. He's such a good sport about his 🪚workshop🔨. 😘Nothing more marvelous than Mummy on an organizational rampage🗑. Percy maintains his 🆒️ no matter the provocation〰️incl. the paste which reached new heights ⬆️❣️ 🤗 Kirsty, Ombeline, Pavlina & Davy are the ⚜️Château Garden & Grounds Dream Team🏵. Plus, all the dedicated helpers with the planting🌿, installation 🧰, & watering💦 duty.🏆Well done! Darling Isabel won't let anyone get a puffed head, but I'm sure she's pleased with the progress. Can't wait to see the charming 🏛Little Pavillion set-up. 👑 Beautiful epiphany dinner 🫓. Those bold artsy holiday plates 🍽 were perfect for this final celebration🥳! 🕊Blessings! 💚Bridget from Cali☘️ (using my pal's YT acct)
Stephanie is so kind & generous, and she always gives people the credit for their ideas & suggestions. And the family & friends are the same. I think that this is partly what makes this channel so popular. Thanks for sharing your lives, adventures, talents, humour & fun with us.❤️🇨🇦
Oh the look on Amury's face!!! Tilted head, open mouth, unbelieving eyes gazing from dear gracious Percy's head to the chandelier and ceiling!!! Priceless!!!! Yes, "to new heights" it most definitely was!!! It will always be one of my most favorite LaLande memories!!! It's what makes your videos so special and cherished all over the world, knowing that you too have those kind of moments and are not too proud to share them! Woo-hoo Dan and the drone, but the first try was fun to watch as always! So looking forward to seeing all the spring flowers come up, it will be so so gorgeous! My God is an incredible Artist, and your Chateau is a wonderful backdrop for His displays of beauty! Thank you as always for sharing it with us! One day I will hopefully be able to share in supporting that beauty in some way, but for now, we are filled with appreciation! Mary from WallaWalla, Washington
You really need everyone to have long bamboo poles for shepherding. You wave the poles back and forth and the sheep perceive them as very long arms. It’s why the shepherds in paintings had long crooks.
Hi Stephenie, I love this video, watching the gorgeous mummy surrounded by all the birds from the garden was adorable, how I love your mother! Amaury and Dan are so funny together and you are a wonderful young woman and I love you, the sheep herding was so funny and Dan has a new talent! Much love to all at Lalande xxxxxxxxxxxxx😘❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Amaury, I think your smore looked awesome. This was a good bit of fun on the Epiphany. Mommy getting the sheep in with Dan's help was a joyful thing to watch. Can't wait to see the new pergola up.
Recently just ended my long term relationship to focus on myself and happiness, so here's to 2023 being the best year yet for Lalande and all of us. xoxo
AWSOME 🎉 Place your life in God’s amazing hands. HE knows all. Place Him as your priority, & He will bless you when it’s time. For all the time invested in your will, you’re delaying God’s perfect will for you. Love Prayers & Granny hugs.
Amaury! You genius! Chocolate melted between marsh mellows! I'm going to try this sometime for sure! Could we have a formal introduction to Natalia's family? I can't tell who's her sister, mother, or niece! They all look so young!
What fun, and Percy wins the Internet with his “cheese has reached new heights” line! Missed Philip in this episode. S’mores are really a sticky mess, but they are so delicious! 💕
Stephanie, the Norwegian night could actually be called Scandinavian night 😍 The akvavit glass bottle/snaps glasses are, if I am not mistaken, from Danish company Holmegaard. And Bjørn Wiinblad (the plates) is Danish too 😍 Lovely table and so nice to be able to stretch Christmas like that and enjoy it in January ❤️🙌 Happy new year to you all 😍🎉❤️
I'm surprised you're not eating Lütefisk and Sürstromming for Norwegian Night! It would be an epicurian adventure. Sometimes the Sürstromming is so "pickled" it launches right out of the tin! Beware; don't let Amaurey open the tin! ⚜️
I don't comment often and I absolutely love your channel. I love your Mom. She's just like my Mom, they could be best friends. Lol my Mom is 83 years young, on the go
By the way, I enjoyed another entertaining episode of the sheep roundup, an adventurous tale I’ll call ramsgate. Though the reference here has nothing to do with the seaside town of Ramsgate in Kent, UK. And, if I haven’t mentioned it before, I always enjoy hearing that special song “La Belle Époque” playing, especially during the scenic landscape clips. It puts me in a ‘I’d love to be in France right now’ mood no matter what else is going on in my day. 😉
Funny use of the baconcheese...Norwegians loves their tubes 😂. You warm the marsmallows in the fire. Then you put chocolate on it and have cracers on as a sandwich. Then you can hold it in your hand.
Thank you so much Stephanie. It is lovely to visit today after a few days away, and see Dan is on site. Amaury, amazing Amaury, is the kindest most understanding man ever. With his darling dog, they are busy moving things around the Workshop, Mummie , with her yellow wellies, is surrounded by her entourage of adoring winged creatures, hoping for a few bread crumbs. ALL IS WELL with the World.
@@geraldinetoltschin7776 isn't he just? I love to hear him talk, did you see the excited childlike expression as he recalled the memory of sheepdogs being worked by man? I actually watched it again 3-4 times. He's such a sweet heart
Thank you for todays vlog. I was thinking why does Dan not just get the Drone out straight away !! lol. I am not sure about other viewers but I am experiencing Lalande withdrawal's. I have had to go back and start watching from the start again. It is a very real condition - serious ! Love to you all. xx
Thank you Stephanie for such a happy joyous vlog. Love it when we can share your day at Lalande. Wonderful seeing Dan with you all he is such a part of Lalande.
Good to see Dan, he is the epitome of my brother in every aspect. My brother passed 3 years ago. So I enjoy Dans sarcasm. Happy new year all. You have to be the number ONE chateau on. You tube!
In the US we have King's cake all through Mardi Gras which is mostly celebrated around Fat Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday. So just a little different, and purs have 1 baby Jesus baked in, but great fun! Happy Epiphany, whatever that is. 🤣
I love the shepherding by drone effect. Now you know the technique with the best results! The s'mores look so tasty. It's making me hungry! I'm so sorry the Carpenter's Shop needs to move. Perhaps it can be worked out so there's a bit more space for Amaurey. Amazing what one can do with a tube of bacon cheese paste! I laughed so hard I couldn't breathe : ) . Merry Twelfth Night! Lots of love... 🙏🏻🌷⚜️🐓🐾💗🐾🐓⚜️🌷🙏🏻
I am a 58 yr old woman of the USA and have eaten my very large share of gooey smores but I have never tried to melt the chocolate between the marshmallows while over the fire. My life is no longer complete! What shall I call the technique? The Amauri smore method! Cannot wait to try it.
As a former summer camp counselor who has eaten thousands of s'mores....Amaury's technique is interesting. Traditionally it's just a toasted marshmallow that you sandwich between graham crackers with the chocolate... but melting it WITH the marshmallow.... verrrryyy interesting! ugh now I want one! :)
Amaurys workshop is very important to the chateau, he needs a new big space to work in where he can work easily with enough room to maneuver large pieces. You all could spend one week helping him into a new space
Another brilliant vlog! The garden looks amazing and the sheep 🤣🥰 so cute! And Molly her expression says it all 🤣🤣. Can't wait to see the new boiler, next winter will be even better 🥰🥰 The Norwegian feast looked great! 🥰🥰🥰🥰❤❤❤❤❤ can't wait for the next vlog!!!🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
So happy to see you highlighting St. Jude Hospital. It is an amazing institution providing not only the finest medical support in the worst time of a parent's life but outstanding emotional support as well.
I really love this farm action you have at the chateau ! I sooooo love it ! and hey , you're so right about eating your way to health , Stephanie ! I'm definetely with you , nothing like beautiful kale ! In all of the Scandinavia we LOVE caviar paste !
Great to see Dan at la Lande again. So much fun, lots of laughter and the jolly sheep did eventually go into the new field...thanks to Dan's technology. You could get a job on a property in Australia where we muster the cattle with a helicopter.
I believe that this was the smoothest process of moving the sheep to the other pasture that has ever happened at LaLande. Oh and Mummy cracked me up with her frig cleanup. Oh how I have missed her bossiness around the Chateau. She keeps everyone on their toes😄.
Your Norwegian Epiphany dinner with the King’s cake looked very delicious. In Canada we roast the marshmallows Place it on a graham cracker, put chocolate on and another cracker on top, then squish together and enjoy. Amaury’s method did look yummy but might be a tad too much marshmallow. Loved the sheep round up. Thanks Stephanie and Co.❤️🙏
Thanks so much for the joy you and your family and friends bring to me and everyone. When I was a girl, my roomie in San Francisco had a Norweigen Mum and Grandparents, pop was North American. At one point we drove to their home in Los Angeles. We were given a lot of Aquavit. I went to the garden quite Woooosie , seeing a very handsome man who looked exactly like Gregory Peck I knew there was too much Aquavit in me, Mentioning this to my friend she said, “Oh he and Veronique live next door”. I then passed out on the guest bed.
So glad to see the information about St. Jude's Hospital. It is a wonderful place that is a blessing for the pediatric cancer patients and their families. I don't know if you know the story of the founder, Danny Thomas? He was an actor/comedian of Lebanese descent. He was Catholic and knew St. Jude was the patron of hopeless cases. He asked St. Jude to intercede for him to be able to make a living as an actor. In return he would build a hospital for sick children who were hopeless cases suffering with cancer. He ended up with a very successful 1960's situation comedy show, "Make Room for Daddy". I grew up watching it. A very sweet man. He kept his vow to God and built the hospital. His daughter, Marlo Thomas, who was a successful actress in "That Girl " TV show, Carries on his work.
St. Jude's foundation and hospital now have an 80% survival rate and support the families of patients nearby, which may be one of the main reasons patients survive surround by love.❤
Absolutely got the s'mores wrong Stephanie lol you lay the chocolate on the graham cracker with the hot marshmallow and it melts in that way. But hey you get an A for effort. Much love from Oklahoma USA Jackie 🇺🇸💖
Sheep moving day is always a highlight...for us at least! Kinda miss the old pre-drone days though where you and the sheep ran circles around each other for hours.
