So brave! Thank you for sharing! Turkey was always for me just' one of those touristy places' but now Im seeing it in a different light thanks to you two! Take care and stay safe x
The underground city was the most amazing place I have visited. My favourite bit of information was learning that the big round stone door was “locked” by putting a small stone at the bottom to stop it being rolled open.An amazing place that I would encourage anyone to visit.
I hope your guide has a good exercise routine to make up for walking around doubled up all day. He seems so good at him job and kind. What an absolutely amazing place!
When I went to that underground city, we had a wonderful tour guide. After the tour, I gave him a tip and congratulated him on his English, which was perfect. He asked where I was from, I told him the UK, he asked where and when I said Somerset, he said "oh my Brother has a kebab shop in Glastonbury" .. When I next went back to the UK, I visited his brother and said " Yılmaz sends his best wishes from Capadochia"... He gave me a free kebab and cola 😊 Wonderful people.
This is an amazingly awesome place.... it’s a wonder of the world. I was here with my husband’s family and they all went through this city but I sat out cause my back was out due to the heavy suitcases we had traipsing through some other countries before....but after watching your video I will go when we are there next time...I love how you describe things and throw in some humour. Thanks for sharing your video...
Amazing. - so glad you enjoyed it and you will love it when you get there ... we have defo fallen in love with Cappadocia ... so lovely ... having Murat and his family adopt us helps for sure !!
Another great treat for us thank you for sharing. Don’t know if I could cope with that though I’m sorry to say. Just would have got me in a panic. Relieved when you came out in the sun light. Well done both of you. Great adventure shared. Thanks again 👍👍 Beautiful Turkey your certainly putting it on the map. Good on you guy’s.

Still enjoyed my holiday despite the blip hope ur hubby was ok . I was fine when i got out . I still wish i went back in and went back down the full way its a very interesting place .id recomend it to anyone also cappadocia is brilliant for the ballooons which we did go up in one it was amazing
@@ianinnes8063 oh that's made my husband feel much better🤣🤣 it is such an interesting place, your right!! We loved it!! It was covered with a blanket of snow when we visit for our honeymoon in 2016, just magical!! We stayed in the Museum hotel...almost an attraction itself as it is full of artifacts and interesting artwork!! Will never forget our time there...very special place!! Xx
@@gemmahammond9087 your welcome Gemma once i got wedged i panicked a bit i wanted to go on but had to get outside . Like i say i loved the area and the balloon ride was amazing im scared of hights or thought i was but up in the balloon it was great we stayed in a cave hotel . The name slips my memory but it was great too very cool at night . No air con needed . It was hot outside but inside the hotel was brilliant the bed was like sleeping on air itself . I reckon turkey has some very underrated places we went all over loved cappadocia though deffo worth a look . Xx thanks for replying to my message hope ur both well . Pls take care stay safe xx
An amazing maze of tunnels, well done Marianne, can be very claustrophobic in them, can’t wait to go back, thank you once again for a very informative video.xx
Glad you enjoyed it - I was fine ... but my claustrophobia is in really tight places ... like in an MRI machine or in tight / squashed places !! but I could still walk when bending over and did not need to squeeze through !! phew !
I went there with my wife in 2013 and managed to do about 4 levels down and then panic set in (claustrophobia) and I had to fight way past other tourists to get to the surface!!
Really impressive that they've covered their every need. Safety, communication, ventilation... and only 7% of it is discovered? What a great architecture project! Thank you for showing this to us. I hope to see these underground cities on my own one day 🌻
it is really amazing, i visited cappadocia last year; i was waoovvv most of time;)) enjoy your time, we enjoy your videos too much...greetings from bursa
What an experience going 'underground' through those amazing tunnels :) ... They just went on forever!! Even I seemed lost when you were going here there and everywhere!! You really are seeing some amazing events daily in Turkey. As you would say Marianne '' Woo Hoo'' !!! Take care David & Angela x
Yes Murat is amazing and has been a real help to us. Glad you are enjoying the videos. I use Filmora for the video editing. Easy to use and well priced.
What kind of maze amazes amazing Chris? An amazing maze amazes amazing Chris! With a woo hoo from brave claustrophobic Marianne. Thanks for taking us along. I'm imagining living in total darkness while under attack. Shudder.
Glad you are enjoying them - we make them as quick as we can. We publish one every Wednesday and Sunday and sometimes and extra one on Friday - another one coming out tonight
I think it's a good thing that you're stuck here in the pandemic. So we met you and loved you. Maybe you were just gonna pass by, but now you're family. Woo Hoo...
We are here .... and enjoying it .... who knows what happens in the future ... we defo did not know about a pandemic 😂😳 but we are so happy to be sharing our adventures here in Turkey 🇹🇷🙌🚐
We met at the camping area and since we don't have much time, you suggested us to go this underground city when we asked you. Marianne I know it's your duty to read the reviews but thank you both for sending us to this beautiful place. :) Amazing
I love your humorous narration, this time, your video has lots of CAVEats. The way they construct and protect the underground cities, simply unbelievable. Great place for sCAVEnger hunt though.
There's three stories more that civilians haven't been able to search. You should have see if you could have gotten some frindge ideas and extra access for extra money 💰 😉 lol nice video none the less.
Wow what an amazing place!they were strong people doing all that by hand and very clever . Well done for going right down! Not sure I would be able to do that, started feeling claustrophobic just watching it!
Could have been the Hittites who built it but this could have been an earlier civilization. But in the Americas the native Americans the Hopi tribe have a legend of the ant people that lived this way many years ago.
When going up to the Black Sea area, you should visitcity of CORUM which is the center of old civilization of HITTITES...I noticed that you like historical places...there are lots of Historical places there...I especially recommend the museums ..you can see lots of artifact from Pre-historical ages...
Looks like a great adventure.shame you gotta wear masks. I personally couldn't, and wouldn't of done it with the mask thing, but hopefully in future ( fingers crossed) . Great upload again though 👍👍👍
Fantastic! As usual! Can you imagine the smell of wine trapped in those caves!? Just breath in and you would get drunk! Thanks you two! 100,000 Subscribers by xmas? Wouldn't be surprised. X
So many challenges to overcome simply creating the tunnels! For example, how did they get all the material out of there? But ventilation shafts, echo tubes, rolling doors, wineries, morgues -- everything needed for thousands of people for a hundred days. Boggles the mind -- simply a-MAZE-ing! 😱😱
It is a backwards skyscraper😁😁 But it is a little worrying people were making such enormous shelters 3000 years ago while today we don't have any shelters at all...
I just happened to stumble across this video from watching another video about ancient civilizations. This is just amazing to me. I can't even begin to think how they actually made these tunnels like where is all the dirt and stone and remains from all of the digging? Also i don't know if i missed it when they were talking because i had to watch two three times because it really is just so... i don't even know a word for it unbelievable i guess... But did they say how long ago these cities were supposedly built? Also, did you happen to see any cool carvings down there? I wonder what else is down there where tourist aren't allowed to go, makes me really wonder!
It was fabulous and there are more videos showing Cappadocia and the hike we did to visit the ancient cities ... you have to come here Vikki - it is outstanding for sure !!
@@TREADtheglobe for small little guys I see Listen About 5 yrs ago I woke up with 3 long finger burns on my neck. About a week later I stumbled upon a big perfect burn circle in my yard Got ptsd that day Still 5 yrs later an image can still be made out of that burn U can see it from Google earth
Actually I just want to suggest you something: For the case if you are searching for some melodies when you are edditing your videos. There is a Melody from a traditional turkish folksong which became a stereotype for turkish songs and which is sometimes used for road scenes in clips or movies (even it's actuall a love song). The original song title: "Üsküdara girediken" or "Katibim" It were also often remixed as like a famous jazzy and faster melody from Brookly Funk Essentials with the title "Freeway to Üsküdar" I think this melody would very fit to your road trip and the turskish audience would become mad (in positve way). But it's only a suggestion. I don't take it personal if you don't use :-)
Thank you so much for the thoughtful tip - as we are monitised, we have to use music from a paid supplier to be able to not break copyright - so we are not able to use it ... but I will check it out for sure - Thank you 🤗🌺
@@TREADtheglobe ohh... ı want to meet you and ı teach you ÇAVUŞİN VİLLAGE.(CENTER OF CAPPADOCİA)Everybodys know here but not much people talk about ÇAVUŞİN. I have Traver Agency here , LAND OF BEAUTIFUL HORSES TRAVEL. if you come here again ı hope we will meet. thanks for your advertising.
There is electric lighting now but centuries ago invaders would have dealt with total darkness. If they attacked with torches the defenders would have easily detected them.
Hi Ahmed - I think due to the air vents in the there - they are the long tunnels that Chris shows up and down ... they lead to each level .... but how they managed to stay underground would have been terrible !!
what makes me wonder with underground city there where did they put all that soil when they dig out must be millions of tons of soil to carry out how did they carry out and the other think is when people left or what ever happen there they haven't left anything behind there is no any items you can see left from them they say winery place but if you look at the rocks where they fermentation the wine looks like never been used red wine leaves bit colour on the wall ??? i dont think we have correct knowledge or enough knowledge about cappadocia
I doubt the holes were for attack.....If you were in there and the enemy knew it.....you were toast. The holes were for dropping supplies / food/ taking out waste.. a lot of "stuff", had to enter and leave !
