What do you think? After calling off our hike when we ran out of time, Tom & I are back in this remote canyon in the desert Southwest. The ancient people were smart when it came to locating their desert dwellings. But they had to be. During our search, Google Earth yielded limited results so we took the drone up for a closer look. We are focused on this mountain. Just look at all the places you could hide your cliff dwelling. Where would you locate your house if you were living here 1000 years ago? Well let's go explore where the ancients decided to build and find it together. Thank you so much for appreciating our ancestors living grounds. I myself are of the Hopi/Tewa indigious tribe. You are absolutely right, leave as you found them, and do not enter for your safety. The buildings could collapse if walked on or bumped. Do not take of deface any dwelling. Thank you for stressing these rules. I truly enjoy your videos. 🫶👍💜💚🫡

Thanks for taking us along on your recent adventures, what an amazing location, such a beautiful area! The geologist in me thinks the one rock in the arroyo you noticed with lines and spirals had shell fossils in it, just a guess from here. And yes to poetry and Cherie’s naration😊. Rocks get carried down spring during spring thaw and during flooding. Floods in the southwest are no joke!

The ancient ones were magnificent builders. Please be very careful to not walk into the rooms. The paths behind the living quarters is very smart for safety reasons. I grew up with parents that loved exploring. I have been very lucky to see places that only a few have seen. One time my mother found a huge fossil of a petrified fish. It was a casting. This fish was said and there were three large pieces you could see where the backbone went even. The front piece had the eye socket. Unfortunately the very front of the head was missing and the end of the tail was gone. It was still amazing. A word of warning in those washes, I wouldn't stay in them long. Even though its not raining where you are at it could be elsewhere. Water comes down there hard a fast. So use caution.

you ask about the hallway at the back. In some locations that construction indicated a seep where water was collected at least at the groundwater conditions at the time.

In Mexico they make needle and threads out of them as there is a thread attached to this very sharp needle.

So bear this in mind, camels were here 11,000 years ago according to the experts. The ancient people here in Wyoming included camels in their petroglyphs. There are footprints in the Whitesands area dating 20,000 years ago. Something tells me those ruins may have been here longer than what we are led to believe.

I was weeding in my yard around a barrel cactus and got too close. The barrel cactus have fish hook huge thorns and one broke off and the fish hook part lodged in the joint of my right index finger. I had to have it surgically removed. It was intense and a complicated removal being in the joint. I have a 3 inch scar on that finger to this day!

Found this ruin over 25 years ago. It is now way to well known and has been getting to much traffic. Used to have tons of pottery, corn cobs, and even some woven fabric relics that are all now gone. I wish you wouldn't put videos of this stuff on the internet. Enjoy it, but don't give millions a clue as to where it is.
