I really like that your videos never seem pretentious: the cleaning before a family visit, surely delicious but not "instagram-able" food, sitting in front of the house with Crocs on, just snippets of your everyday life.
My late wife showed me your channel a while ago. We marvelled at the life you are building and wondered if we could do something like that. One of your videos showed up for me just a few days ago, and I am so grateful for the calm and peaceful scenes you are sharing. Japan meant a lot to my wife, and it is becoming a special place for me. From another Canadian, thank you for opening your life for people to see.
Thank you for taking the time to share your story. Japan is indeed a beautiful and serene place, and I'm glad my videos can bring some peace and joy to your life. Take good care of yourself, and once again, thank you for your wonderful support. 🥹
I'm so glad we have a new video, I was literally just checking your channel to see if there was a video I missed. So glad you got to show your little corner to your family
This is such a relatable episode. I'm american but have been living in britain for the last 15 years. When i have family or friends from the USA visit me, i get to "play tourist" in my own country and experience my fam an friends trying all the foods and places i'm so used to, and watch them enjoy it so much. It's fun!
It was so much fun! We ended up doing things I always wanted to try, but just needed the push from my family to make it happen. I don’t know if I would have ended up trying the pearl experience unless they were here!
Your area seems to offer countless amazing experiences and breathtaking natural beauty that I absolutely want to explore and add to my bucket list. Thank you for sharing, Mika!
Your videos are so unique and beautiful, and yet so down to earth and enjoyable. I know it takes a chunk of your time to make it happen, but keep up the great work.❤
Shikoku is my favourite place in Japan, especially Seto Naikai and Kochi. But pretty much everywhere on the island is amazing. I went there so many times. We had 2 roadtrips there with my wife. The last one was spring 2023 with our 3-year-old. We drove along almost all the coast. One of few parts we skipped was the Tatsukushi Coast. Is it worth it? If youre not afraod of driving on a moutain pass, i recommend the 439!
I so enjoy your videos. So calming and tranquil. I am an American who had never considered visiting Japan but now maybe if I could visit a nice, quiet village and stay in a small cottage for a week or so. Calm and peaceful and slow.
So very zen to watch your videos. I love your vlog style. Japan ( not the big cities) is on my bucket list. I really want to explore the villages and countryside❤
I can't believe you've been there for six years!! I know it's a little over a year in that Akiya house, but I didn't know you lived in Japan before that! Congratulations on finally feeling at home there :)
Haha, cleaning the fridge before guests come :D I felt seen! Pancake gets really big now. Isn't he behaved well enough to roam around the house freely? Guess he would go chasing these cheeky monkeys. Hope you all can cope with the heat.
He has his good days and bad days. We're still working on recall with him. He is usually well-behaved, but sometimes he succumbs to his wild dog instincts, which can be especially problematic if there are monkeys around!
Ohhhhhhhh ! I bet your family had a great time 😊. Love pancakes banner (he deserves it😂) . Your flowers are beautiful especially the hydrangeas. I look forward to your next video !😊❤
It must have been such a special experience sharing your home with your family and it's always lovely to spend time with loved ones who you may not see very often. Thank you for sharing this special moment!
Lovely video - I love that one of your family visitors was a kiddo. I imagine your chill style of presenting a very different place will set her up for future explorations ❤️
This is coming from a die-hard Kyushu fan: you make me want to visit Shikoku!!! It was wonderful seeing your family experience the beauty Japan has to offer.
I love Kyushu too! If you ever have the opportunity, exploring Shikoku has a southern island vibe that's different from Kyushu and very worth checking out!
I can't discern what kind of a snake which appears at 4:04 , but in the countryside of of Japan there are not a few poisonous snakes called "mamushi" (a pit viper). Beware of them when you go into a forest.
The noren is a traditional Japanese curtain used to divide rooms, doorways, or windows. It's primarily for providing privacy or shielding from bright light, smoke, dust, etc, but it also serves as a decorative element and even a signpost for stores, indicating they are open for business. Pancake's noren means that this is Pancake's home. 🤣
