I hate to tell you this Tim, but you're way to big to be riding such a small horse... You shouldn't weigh more than 20% of the horses weight or you risk long-term health problems for the horse--back and joint and early arthritis problems especially.
Alan, the best used horse salesman- will buy, sale, broker, any good looking horse- but most horses are good looking to Alan. Come on let’s get a new owner for Wildfire!
If either mare is papered the foals born in Oct., Nov., or Dec., will be considered one year old, for show purposes, on Jan. 1 even if the are only a few months old. This can be a disadvantage in the show ring.
When a perlino is bred to a chestnut, bay or black you will get a single cream dilute palomino, buckskin or smokey black foal (smokey blacks are black but carry one copy of the cream gene). If perlinos are bred to a palomino, buckskin or smokey black mare, you could get a single cream dilute palomino, buckskin, smokey black, or a double cream dilute cremello, perlino or smokey cream foal. I had a homozygous black, perlino Morgan stallion. He would only produce buckskin, perlino, smokey black or smokey cream foals.
@@lynnehuff9659 my horse was homozygous for the black gene and homozygous for the cream gene. It means that in addition to being a perlino, he is a horse that is homozygous for black and will not produce red base colored offspring like palominos or cremellos. If he was only homozygous black, with no copies of the cream gene, he would not produce any chestnuts or sorrals only bay, brown and black.
@@lynnehuff9659 I guess my point was just because someone has a perlino, it doesn't guarantee that you will get a golden colored foal. You could also get a black foal (smokey black). There are other genes and gene modifiers that can come into play and burst someone's golden dreams 😉 Best way to determine what coat color genes a horse has, is to do coat color testing thru labs like UC Davis or Animal Genetics.
Well, I'm here saying something again on the "HORSES" behalf. I tried explaining to you about Thoroughbreds and how touchy of a breed they are. With diet, feet, breeding, etc. In which you found out the hard way, which is unfortunate for the horse. It is our responsibility to keep them safe. However, I've seen so many mistakes that could have been prevented. Some of which are costly mistakes IE (Cherry's leg) checking and oiling leathers on equipment routinely IE (broken scapula). I'm expressing another concern about breeding a 2-year-old filly, her body is not even mature enough. Horses are not fully mature until between the ages of five and seven years old. A horse is a horse - and they all mature at approximately the same rate. Don't believe me look it up or ask a Veterinarian (what age is a horse fully developed). Now that is a very impulsive decision, and not taking the time to think what's best for the horse or your future foal?!?! Please take some time and reflect. Putting the Stallion in with the mares is another rookie mistake. Go back take a look at your videos and see your mare and filly reaction. They are both protecting that baby. Now put that stress on the other foot imagine how you would feel? I'm sorry but I'm not, it needed to be said
Could you please state your level of expertise? I am no expert, but mares go into heat not long after they foal. I've never seen a foal separated from it's mare in order to breed the mare. What do you think happens in the wild? Anyway, we're all on a learning curve. We learn the best when we are treated with love and respect.
JUST CURIOUS IF YOU EVEN WATCHED OUR VIDEO...WHERE DO YOU GET THAT WE ARE BREEDING A TWO YEAR OLD - WE NEVER HAVE AND TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU. THE TWO THAT WE ARE BREEDING - ONE IS 14 AND THE OTHER 7
At 2:30 in your video, you explained you got a new horse which was a 2-year-old filly. Then at 11:48 in your video, it was said, to breed some mares to him with no clarification. Then at 12:14 in your video explaining, you got a different mare that had never been bred before. So to me as a viewer, it comes across that all you want to do is breed, breed, breed. And doesn't matter what time of year etc, what your trying to achieve in your foals?. I've been doing this for 30+ years. [ ] Breed for a purpose. Have genuine short-term goals, a long-term vision, and a realistic plan to breed accordingly that is breed for purpose. [ ] a responsible horse breeder NEVER should use color as their primary selection criteria. [ ] Become a horse person before you become a breeder. Be a rider. Use and test your horses, or listen closely to your riders. Do not breed from unperformed animals. Note* preformed means any useful work a horse can fulfill, not just competition. If you've been a rider, you know exactly what the requirements and characteristics of a good horse "feels like". You either ride or you listen to those who do ride your horses especially as to the qualities, good or bad, that they are likely to reproduce. [ ] The Vast majority of mares will be proven as worthy of breeding by having PREFORMED before they are advanced to a breeding band.( having a uterus is NOT a reason to breed from any mare. Don't breed more than what you have time to work with. Some known studs breed huge numbers of foals a year, pick out the best half dozen, without handling or papers. These are NOT responsible practices, and the best that can be done is " name and shame" and avoid buying breeding stock from these places. Breeding numbers are just flooding the market. Do your research, research, and more research. Research management, nutrition, health, veterinary, genetics pedigree, and history. Theory cannot replace experience, but without theory, the practice would be clueless. In other words don't just breed, breed, breed. Would be nice to see your channel doing something more involved, like showing halter, cutting, roping, barrels, etc, etc. even if they are on a small scale, there are jackpots everywhere.
@@mindyguerin9765 If your unhappy with this Channel there are plenty others in cutting, reining, jumping etc. Putting others down to lift yourself up isn't very flattering. Have a blessed day
I bought a mare from CA who had allergies, when she arrived in AK she looked like a rescue. And I paid 10,000.00 for her. She was truly pathetic. Her body was covered in knat bites. I put her on moremens minerals over the winter through the summer and the following winter. Cleared her right up.
So sad, people don't understand the bind of a horse, it destroys them to be shuffled from person to person, so many people get an animal selfishly, never consider the animals emotional needs. This applies to all animals. God says we can tell a man's heart by the way he treats his animals. Thank you for trying to save these wonderful animals.
Appreciate the update and glad Clementine is happy. Buckskin is a favorite too. Hope you are keeping up with that paint that went to Idaho. They might need a little guidance with his personality...hope the best for all.
Tell Tim to put Avon Skin So Soft all over the mustang that has bug allergies. Very good repellant. Works EXCELLENT. I’d love to give that mustang some help. I have 4 acres in BLACK CANYON CITY; AZ. 85324 I have all the time, love to give her. Or help provide a home till she gets a home. I can not transport. Friend has my trailer. I am 72 yrs young. My fence (pens are heaven panels)!)
I will take her. I miss having my horses 🐎 here. Had to rehome them to go take care of my mom in her last days. Im home now and would love to have a horse again. I will spoil her.
Poor baby I wish I could take her but I am in FL where there are gnats galore in the spring. We just got a new horse property with a 2592 sq ft barn that is *empty* lol and a few other barns I will use for our hay & goats. Hopefully I will get some horses soon. Love your bay roan and little filly. They are looking good.
I live in Beebe AR, and would love to have her. If it's the knats that have her down my vet and I can figure out something to keep them away from her. Between fly spray and vinager I know we can come up with something.
I know it sounds wierd but its worked fir me on cuts , or such, ( raw honey) but when wild fire goes to her new home, mabe try to put honey to heal the bites..( i dont know you could do it right now..but when there are not qnats..for right now saline ( salt water rubbed on it might help..im not an expert..my dog had the same thing..
Raw honey is a great healer. Great for sore throats too. Out in the country it seems like everybody has their own apiary and everybody sells their own honey.
I swear, sir, you've gone totally bonkers!! You trade and forget you traded?? I'm trying to figure a way to get thru to you!! You're crazy! Love to all ... ESPECIALLY PENNY66
😜😜😜. Crazy days ahead especially with TWO feisty mares who doesn’t care about those boy smells. Maybe protecting their food but definitely when they kick and bite this maybe a dream at another time. He’s definitely in need of a suit of armor just to protect himself as he continues to court both and with a foal they both are protecting to mix it up. I sure know the feeling and the vision of a foal with all ya want but I also saw horrendous fights ending the dream for another time and of course price goes up. We lost a mare and a mom to a new filly who wasn’t in the trailer that rolled hit by a drunk and tired big truck driver. A few weeks later that filly had big bites all over her and Vet believed her immune system was compromised by stress of the loss. After trying so many things a new shot and lots of healing herbs rubbed on her it finally disappeared. But as she grew she would get irritations and we’d do it all over again and we lived in a dry climate. Hope Tim does find a new home and am certain with your help it won’t be long. That’s a big man to do what is right for a horse and is also hard to find in this world today. As always Alan to the rescue and with prayers all will be good. A fine team you and Vicky are always thinking of saving another horse and that’s why so many love you. It’s an honor for me to watch your videos and see your hearts only getting bigger with each new horse or animal. ❤️❤️👍👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️👍👍👍❤️❤️
That is just horses being horses, and feeding time isn't helping any. Seems to me like the same thing with a new good-looking guy in school mid-year, except the girls are chasing, and the boys are fighting him.
I know that a horse should never have more than the saddle on it if under 2 full years of age. If not big and built strong, it can develop micro fractures along it's back and have swayed. And some horses should not have a rider more than 150#, a big horse can eventually tolerate 200# rider. It's about what size rider appropriate for age and size of horse.
what is that stallions name? I sold a homozygous perlino stallion a few years back lost track of him. Plus did you every live in Turlock or Modesto California? You look so familiar.
Like you Allen a Buckskin is my favorite, Lex or Chipper would have a great baby we all know that they have big babies with really good straight legs. Hope they come into heat while you have the stud. We are not mad at you and Vikki will let you out of the dog house after she she's the 2 yr. Old baby Lex, your just keeping it in your family line. Lol God bless stay safe.
The mares are being protective of the foal. With due reason, as a strange stallion who is not the foals sire, could attack it. This happens with a mean stallion as if the foal is killed it will bring the mare into season again.
I love a good Morgan, but I am falling in love with the different roans. Now, if we could get a black with a blonde mane, my whole family would put in on it
Wild Fire sure is nice looking. I do feel sorry for her with all those gnat bites. We have gnats in Minnesota. Prayers for Wild Fire to get the best home out West. I sure love the white stallion!! The blue eyes are absolutely gorgeous. Wouldn't it be crazy if the foal turned out to have blue eyes??
With Lilly's back breeding you would most likely get a palomino foal as most of her ancestors are chestnuts with very few bays for the black points. I'm excited to see the cross.
As far as gnats go????? Look up Tara, here on Utube, You will need to go back in her videos to when sh first got Bella, About 2 years ago. Same type of condition. Non Contagious.
