We hear and read so much about the brave aircrews, quite rightly, but precious little about the guys on the ground. Yet air and ground crews were completely interdependant, utterly loyal, toughly disciplined, and highly skilled. They worked all weathers forming part of an essential team, each officer and airman of every ground crew, and all those across the air base from the C.O. down. Including WRAFs.
