R.I.P. to your Pops! I am 55 years old and lost my Dad several years back. Really did not realize how much he meant to my life till I lost him. My Mom recently passed from dementia. This looks like the life I would love for me and my wife. Take care and stay safe on the road!
John, I think your father would be proud of you. I have a feeling that he would love you too Laura. Keep living and loving each other and the life you have built xx
@2Fine2Be Humble I agree with you. We've been living full time in our 35' Classic Limited for 7 years. It is cozy, but the bathroom is very tight and being in South Dakota we have to winterize it for 6 months of the year. Too big and heavy to pull. It's full of solid oak everything! I can't redecorate it very easily and no space for an indoor garden.
@2Fine2Be Humble We put the Duck window insulating plastic on the windows and skylights and the ac unit. It makes a HUGE difference! This past February was below freezing and often below 0° from Super bowl Sunday until the beginning of March. We were cozy with the catalytic heater, fan forced heater and an edenpure electric fan forced heater.
@2Fine2Be Humble We did, however, purchase and remodel a 25' Excella Classic to travel with. We call it our vacation home. Last fall, we also put the plastic all in it. I have yet to do it this month. The home (35') is done. We also call the big one the AP, Sr. The shorter one is the AP, Jr. AP stands for Aluminum Palace. My hubby's buddy gave it that name! 😂
I miss my dad, also. He died in 2003 and as I'm now contemplating restoring a vintage Shasta trailer - I would love to have him at my side. My former husband and I traveled for 3 months two summers in a row, in a great truck camper (with a slideout!) and the experiences we shared were life-changing. Now, alone...well, it will be a new experience, but I'm ready for a challenge. Thanks for the video!
Just amazing. Here in Brazil we do not have Airstream, but a really Love it. You are a very kind couple keep your Love and enjoy this journey! Love from Brazil.
Oh shit, my wife and I met them a few years ago in Marfa, TX! We were on a 4 month long road trip when we met them. We hung out late into the evening. They're super nice, really cool people. Glad to see they're still doing their thing!
My first time seeing your channel. That was film quality, you both speak eloquently, and it was meaningful. Great job. Love the Airstream. I look forward to your videos. We are going to look at Airstreams soon.
Beautiful home! I was so excited when I saw the quilting! Just learning to sew but love both RV and sewing videos - yours provides both! Best wishes to the two of you!
I am a quilter since I retired. I was wondering where you put your batting, backing, tools etc. Then you pulled up the bed, brilliant! Love the modern style of quilts.
Just watched your video. I was totally taken in awe by the pics at the end. What an unbelievable experience!!! We have our airstream on the market to sell but I think you’ve just changed our minds 🤍 Enjoy and keep exploring. Hope to meet u both on the road someday 😊
Love that Laura is a quilter ( like me) on the road there must be some really cool Quilt Shops to explorer :) traveling mercies to you both and may the best is yet to be for you two!!!
I love your Airstream and what an awesome setup. Your video is really good. The Desk, with the Monitor on a swivel is a great idea, and the desk setup is also great. I also love your pull out shelf with the pull out pantry / bar. That is clever. Your father would be so proud of you. I am new to your channel, just came across it and watched this video.
We keep going back and forth on if we should get an Airstream to travel in, or a van...... Watching your video, I’m so much more tempted again to get an Airstream for us to renovate and travel this continent, meet people, see beautiful places. We’ll probably do a smaller version of yours 😊
That's awesome, I am semi retired and want to do the same so bad,I am an master RV tech with a mobile service and in business for 18 years now and Airstream is the only way to travel like that!!! Wish the best of luck in your travels, maybe if things work out we might cross trails someday!!🎣😎😂👍👍
the silver palace, we called ours Land Yacht, but we have the 25 footer , 2 axial just a little easier to handle... join a park system it will save you money in the long run..Love the video ,...enjoy..
This is awesome. We have talked about hitting the road since my company is virtual I can work anywhere with an Internet connection. It might happen sooner than later. :)
I did it, pushed by an illness that made living in suburbia difficult. I am soooo much less isolated in rv-land than I was as a home-based worker in suburbia, I love it.
You guys are awesome! I have been preparing to take the leap and hit the road!! Looked at many RU-vidrs on the subject. U2 are so natural and real. A lot of these other folks try to make it like a commercial with weird acting. That is kind of gross. LOL thanks for the inspiration and being simply you!🌻 ✌️
I'm an aircraft mechanic and I'm interested in buying a vintage Airstream and refurbishing it like you did! I noticed at around the 2:34 mark that your trailer fuselage looked like it had what we in the aircraft industry call corrosion inhibitive compound (CIC) sprayed on it! It's the brown coating made from pine tar and solvents. If that's what I saw you did the right thing! You should get no corrosion on the metal that you sprayed for like...thirty years! I'm just curious about that spray insulation though because it adheres to the metal! That's something that you would not see in aircraft as it would prevent corrosion inspections and doubtfully has the "R-value" of aircraft fiberglass insulation! But then A/C insulation costs about $100 / 20in X 20ft section as well and It's also highly flame resistant. I love your cabinetry! Your work is first rate and I'm sure more sturdy than factory Airstream cabinets! Your bedside stowbins are awesome too! Love those! You're trailer looked to be over thirty feet long as it has the three wheels per side! That's awesome! Can you "boondock" if need be? Anyway, I love what you've done with the place!
Thanks! The spray foam insulation has been amazing - it's much more effective than fiberglass and keeps our temps stable in heat + cold. Not cheap or easy to install, but we felt it was worth it. Our Airstream is 34 feet long and we have solar, a beefy battery, and a large freshwater tank, so we can boondock for about a week. Best of luck with your renovations!
yeppers it takes skill, I added the blue flame heater at the door way too , it gets hots real quick , almost do not need a central heater , we took ours out to install a washer/dryer unit..love that , but refurbs are a lot of work so I parked the old air stream and bought a toy hauler so we can ride our Harley , that too is great way to get around to see more..
what a great airstream re model . bespoke and beautifully crafted . maybe a bit more wood in the rear bedroon ceiling would look good against the white but overall one of the best i've seen .
Wow very nice design and the lay out is perfect i do want to point out i do believe in the afterlife and your father is around you and im pretty sure he was at your wedding and loves lauren because she makes you happy you make ger happy you two have a beautiful love story just how it all started keep dreaming because it's free and keep do what makes you both happy
This is way smarter than a tiny home or a regular mobile home. Only thing better would be a 3-story concrete home in a Japanese or Streamline Moderne design with attached 3-story tropical greenhouse. If each floor is limited to no more than 400 sq ft, and there are 3 stories, not as expensive to build as vertical is less expensive build. Cinder block/concrete structures very durable.
Thank you- dude, I so agree that your dad is (would be) proud of you. If you were my son, I’d be proud of you. Come to think of it, I’m proud of my son and the adventure of life he is on too. Thanks you two for the inspiration. Ps. What a great blessing to be able to work side by side with your wife. My wife and I both suffer a degree of misophonia... so not only do eating sounds potentially drive me berserk, I couldn’t handle the sewing sounds or the key board sounds and the same for my wife, I’d drive her crazy tapping on the keys. Hahahhahahahaha! LOL! All so much the better for y’all. Enjoy the journeys.
@@laurapreston4913 the storage units on the inside of the end caps look like units from the 60s. Did you retrofit those or are they original? Thank you
@@timbarry5080 You're right! It's from a 60s/70s model that we found, built a face + bookshelf to fit inside and used for the bedroom end cap. It doesn't quite fit (the 90s models are wider), but we were able to finagle it and make it work!
We build a separate compartment underneath the dinette bench that houses the litter box - there's a flap door so the cat can go in and the seat of the bench lifts up so we can clean it out. We even built in a motion sensor fan that blows outwards, so whenever the cat goes in, the fan blows all the stink out of the trailer ;)
this is beautiful , ive always loved air streams but for me its just way to large and over done. for me personally one of the main reasons to take off , travel and live like that is so that things are simple , to be a minimalist . its just to much time , thought and money involved in something like that to live in full time . The Gas money , money for parking and power . the time it takes to get something that big from point a to point b . All i need is a Ford Transit Stealthed out and i can park anywhere for free . thank you for the video .
I love it! ...I know this is not on topic..but I would like to suggest 2 books..Proof of Heaven..by Eben Alexander, M.D. Or To Heaven And Back, MaryC.Neal MD...I wasn't into that kind of stuff either until I lost my son when he was just 26..💞 Happy travels!
all my family who have passed are alive somewhere in the multiverse. in quantum mech you can be dead and alive at the same time. like schrödingers cat. in fact my mother visited me in my sleep, but it was what she told me that was designed to convince me it was her. i woke up 100% convinced. i talk to her and others all the time. i feel the living connection.
