Ohhhh my goodnessss! I’m slow glad they’re starting a series in this game! They can have the same roles in Minecraft sky factory! Geoff can be in charge of running the “farm” raising dinosaurs. Except now you can put laser guns on t-rexes inlike Minecraft where you were just making different chickens. Jeremy and Ryan can be in charge of hunting and gathering food and rare materials. Michael and Gavin can be the main resource gatherers. And jack, can be head architect for all the buildings.

I think it would be a great idea to split the group to have specific roles, kinda like this: Gatherer, Scout, Farmer, Builder, Tamer, and Warrior! That way you can have diverse roles - please like this comment so that they can see this please :) or post your thoughts? I am thinking Jack = builder, Geoff = Farmer, Jeremy = Warrior, Michael/Gavin = Tamer/Gatherer and Ryan = Scout

Love that you guys are playing Ark! A suggestion from someone with over 1000 hours, get the mod Structures + and a stack mod. They will save you guys a lot of frustration.

Finally your playing ARK! Anyway here’s the guide: 1. Get axe first 2. Lvl up to get pick axe and camp fire and spear 3. Create all 3 and lvl up to get bed roll and that home 4. Lvl up to get bed and place a lot for multiple respawns. More beds more respawns. Also you can stack them on each other. 5. Keep Leveling up till you get to the bow and arrows. 6. Lvl up till you get narcotics. To make those you need a mortar and pestle. 7. Now that you know narcotic; learn the narcotic arrows to knock out Dino’s easier. 8. Time for taming. Peteradons and parasuar first easy for air and ground. The higher lvl the Dino the longer it will take and more supplies you will need. 9. Start with low lvl Dino’s and look for stronger ones later. 10. Keep lvling and all its are linear in the same way with other stuff along the way. Bow --> crossbow --> gun Cloth armor --> chitin--> metal armor Etc... Love you guys and am super excited your making a let’s play here!

YAY, theyre finally playing ark! handy tips: press f to open chest or dino inventories fast, press o in your own inventory on an item to drop it, 1 bed stays where it is and the whole tribe can respawn, but with a cooldown. tame a dodo and let the dodo carry the raw meat. dino's can carry meat and berries, it will spoil less fast then when youcarry it yourself. while taming you can keep the dino asleep with narco berrie's and narcotics, every berry can be made into dye so you can dye your hear/bar or clothing. noob tips are always handy!

Press M for Map, use Lat and Long for directions. "You are Here" is the pin, reveal map like Minecraft by exploring. You can make custom marks somehow, I don't remember how.

Damnit, I was betting on Gavin first to die...

I love that they're giving Ark another chance and really think this game has the potential to be as popular as their 7 days and sky factory series, but in order for it to really work they're going to need to change some of the in game settings to really get the most out of everything it has to offer. Before I get started I'll just say that I have over 2600 hours in Ark since launch and have played everything from official, mildly boosted, and super boosted servers. First, from what Ryan said on the podcast the XP rate is at 2x and watching the video I see that the harvesting rate is as well. These need to be boosted dramatically if they plan on making any progress in this series. I would say at minimum XP should be at 5x and maybe even make it 10x and the harvesting rate I would make anywhere between 10x and 20x. It's not so bad early on but when you start to progress and everything gets way more expensive to make you don't want to be just grinding out resources for the whole video. Also once you get to level 50 or so it takes a lot of grinding to get to the next level and with something like the Rex saddle being unlocked at 74 it would be a year before someone was high enough to unlock it whith only playing for 1 hour a week. Second, taming and breeding rates needs to be increased A LOT. while I'm not sure what they have it set to now because they haven't tamed anything yet, if its 2X like the other settings then it will be way too long to tame anything in the short time frame they have in these videos. At 2X it would take them 37 minutes to tame one level 30 pteranodon using raw meat, and that's one of the easiest tames in the game. Of course they could use kibble to make taming go faster, but that requires a lot of work to get started and can still take a decent amount of time with some of the bigger dinos like the rex and the Quetz. Breeding times are way worse. Using the Pteranodon as an example being one of the faster tames, it would take 20 in game hours from egg incubation to it being fully grown. My suggestion would be have taming speed set to 10X and hatching speed set to 20x and baby mature speed like 30x. That would make an hour and 15 minutes to raise a Pteranodon. Third, as I saw someone suggest maybe change the settings so night time goes by faster as it can be hard on the viewers if they're just looking at a bunch of dark screens for half of each video, or you could just increase the gamma and it wouldn't be so bad. Lastly, maybe increase the amount of points you get in something when you level up. Like instead of getting 10 health per level make it so its 20. I would make it so the weight gets more points per level as well especially if they increase the harvest rates that way they're not just getting encumbered every time they mine one rock. Those are the best things I can think of for now server settings wise. I figured I would include some tips for the guys from what I've seen since there's such a huge learning curve and the game has no sort of tutorial. Put more levels into your weight stat. Shit starts to get heavy quick specially when you have a full set of tools and weapons and are trying to carry metal back and forth. You dont have to demolish any structures when upgrading it to a better material like when jack started to replace the thatch floor. If you just place it down on top of it it will auto replace it and nothing that is placed on top of it, like the beds or chests, will be demolished. The entire tribe can share the one bed. There's a cool down timer after someone spawns in it, but any bed can be used by the whole tribe. I would suggest just making 2 or 3 for the time being in case a bunch of people die at once, but the cool down between uses is only like 2 minutes. Hit F to access inventories instead of holding E and selecting it from the wheel. It makes things go by a lot smoother especially when they start getting a lot of dinos. You can just press E while looking at the water to drink it so you don't have to submerge your whole body in it. The Beach location is good for now as a beginner area, but I would suggest moving inland near a metal spawn one they start to progress a little bit because everything is going to cost metal to make and it's a pain in the ass hauling it around even with an Argy or Quetz. That's all I can think of off the top of my head right now. I'm sure there's 1000 other suggestions I could make, but its still too early and part of the magic of this game is figuring things out for your own for the first time. I hope the guys have a blast playing Ark, I think it has the potential to be a really great series.

I so hope that they make this into a weekly series like they did with 7 days. I know they just started, but they got A LOT to learn about this game, unless someone like Jeremy or Ryan goes home and plays it by himself to get a better understanding with it. Also Protip: Clubs are used to knock out dinos, which begins the taming process. There's two bars, once the process bar of taming and another is how much it's still asleep. You'll need to give it the food, which you can put some in their inventory and they'll eat it automatically. Dinos that are carnivores may require raw meats, such as Fish, meat, prime fish, or prime meat while herbivores may require berries, like azulberries . To keep the dino asleep, you must manually either feed it narcoberries or narcotics, which narcotics are the best but narcoberries are faster to acquire. Be sure to protect the down dino, because other carnivore dinos may try to kill it, while it's also best to baby sit the dino to be sure it's given enough narcotics. When the dino is tamed, not only will it wake up, but you'll have music playing and a book will mark a recording of your tamed dino, like a in-game achievement (the music and book only occurs during the first time you capture a different dino).

Use the console command to disable their ridiculous bloom setting. I don't understand why they STILL don't have an option to simply turn it off in the menu.... As bloom settings go, this game doesn't know how to do it properly, it looks horrible and is just intrusive.

Cool to see you're making a potential series of this game, gets really addicting once you start taming dino's and a solid base. One of you should build a boat base to travel with to gather resources faster, that always speeds up the beginning for me.

I like how they are like "We could branch out with learning things..." and "We could have people learn certain things..." because that is actually how you have to play. There are too many engrams for a single person to learn so it's best to be part of a tribe and have people learn certain things that way a tribe can get the full benefits of all possible items. Though finding things like blueprints will help because you can use those to craft engrams you haven't learned. That and blueprints can be used multiple times so wither you like that blueprint or not, it's best to keep it stashed somewhere because it could be an item you don't know how to make and can make as many as you want once you have that blueprint without wasting your "skill" points on engrams you don't need to learn.
