A world without Nancy?! We all want to wake up from this nightmare!!! If you like damaged youth joining together to right the wrongs of their parents, then you'll love this full movie reaction to A Nightmare on Elm St. 3: Dream Warriors.
Isnt Nancy wonderful?? Not only is she totally rocking the styles, but this came out 3 years after the first film so I think they did a great job of transitioning her from a high school kid to grad student. She now runs a makeup FX company with her hubby and still pops up onscreen sometimes (and still looks so lovely)
Nancy Thompson is one of my favorite final girls 💙. I think Nancy had a very triumphant arc. She started has the strong willed teen who tried saving her friends on her own and bested Krueger. Then we got to see her as an equally headstrong young adult, guiding the next kids and protecting them in the way her parents failed. And even though she died, she still bested Freddy with her last breath, and he wasn’t able to get her soul. She died a hero and passed her strong torch to the rest of the Dream Warriors. It was very bittersweet but well done.
Another Fun fact: Jennifer Rubin's character Tarin influenced teenagers to quit their drug addiction being her character was played as a recovering drug addict.
Prior to Big Pharma doing their Freddy impression on households everywhere? The '80s "Nightmare" was 'Child's Play' compared to the horrors awaiting GenZ.
I just saw that the “first nightmare on elms st” movie had a scene deleted that explained that Nancy and all the victims from the first movie actually were all second born and that the kids Freddy took originally were each families’ first born kid, which is why Nancy’s mom drinks and all the other families look so concerned and sad all movie.
The gagging gasp sound that Alanda makes when she’s both scared and grossed out makes me laugh. She doesn’t know whether to throw up or to scream. That head space is pretty accurate for Wes Craven’s films.
As a grown man I am not embarrassed to say that Kristen sobbing over a dying Nancy still chokes me up every single time. Powerful stuff for a movie where a naked nurse spits out tongue worms.
When Patricia Arquette holds Nancy in her arms while she's dying and is crying and whimpering it sounds so realistic that it gets me teary eyed because of the realism.
Nancy is one of the best final girls in any franchise. Dream Warriors might be tied with the og for me. I love that Nancy finally found some people who weren't totally useless and incapable of staying awake for even a few minutes to help her not die lol. Wes Craven's New Nightmare (kind of number 7, kind of it's own thing) is a great installment that doesn't have Nancy but does have Heather Langenkamp playing herself and she's pretty much as bad ass as Nancy and looks amazing in every shot as usual, lol.
I love that so many people including myself consider this one to be their favorite. It’s a perfect blend of: Fantasy, Horror, and a sprinkle of comedy. If you were ever a misunderstood youth, you really identify with the dream warriors like I did. Also, how gorgeous is Heather Langencamp in this?😍
I'm right there with you. Nancy/Heather was my first crush as a teen. It broke me to see Nancy die in this. It was worse for me because my brother changed the channel as soon as Freddy started exploding, so I thought maybe she made it. I found out later she hadn't. She's my favorite heroine in the series and went out like a warrior. A faithful guardian.
@@J_Rossi Such an underrated entry. To this day, whenever something else employs that same initial twist in its structure (except with anime fans, as they'll get it better with the likes of Digimon Tamers), I compare it to New Nightmare.
Exactly...the thing about movies, (especially about Wes Creven's New Nightmare/aka Nightmare 7) is a popular character is never really gone if the filmmakers don't want the character to be 😉😉😉✌️
@@BossDon456 I know right !!! people don't think before they type........ he's the type that says ''spoiler alert'' in the title of the video but has the spoiler as the thumbnail
“Don’t be so spooky lil bih.” 🤣🤣🤣 This reaction was EVERYTHING!!! You’re responses to this franchise are simply some of your finest. I look forward to more.
Pretending to be her dad was a pitiful act of desperation, so Nancy is still the victor here. I will say the final girl in the next two movies really does a great job of filling her shoes.
@@moneylover318yeah considering how in dream master they were shown how they were opposites Alice being the Dream Master and Freddy being the Dream Demon. How mirrors are Alice’s strength and Freddy’s weakness
Exactly. But what bothered me is Nancy didn't even suspect it wasn't really her dad. Considering everything she knows about Freddy, it seemed just a little out of character. She knew Freddy used people's fears and weaknesses against them. Hers was her broken relationship with her father. Seems like Nancy of all people would at least think "Wait a minute here. Something isn't right."
Interesting that you jumped to this on the same night that you watched "Carrie" since the two are connected by actress Priscilla Pointer who plays Dr. Simms in this and was Sue Snell's mother in "Carrie." She is also actress Amy Irving's, who played Sue, actual mother.
This movie is so good 😭 and it’s also Patricia Arquette’s film debut just like the original is Johnny Depp’s first film. To think she is now an Oscar winner.
Heather Langenkemp/Nancy looked her best to me in the 7th film “Wes Cravens New Nightmare”….if you go through all of them make sure you watch that one….it’s a different take on the Nightmare series and Wes comes back to direct
@@007odc dude that clearly is a spoiler. Own it...its an assumption at best that she will look up the actors....discovery trumps disclosure.....you eliminated the discovery thus it is by definition a spoiler
The fact that it didn't dawn on me why she kept calling Kristen "Medium" until half way through the video lol. I kept thinking that's not the right word to describe her being able to pull someone into her dreams haahahahaha
I have to admit a soft spot for the next movie in the series, The Dream Master. As a kid, it was cool seeing the dream power stuff continuing (along with some returning characters).
I agree, Dream Master gets a lot of unnecessary hate. It’s 80s MTV in a nutshell and an overall great Freddy movie (if you ignore the over comedic kills). The showdown is top tier and one of the best in the whole franchise imo.
This is my favourite of the series. About 7 years ago I did a list of my Top 10 Horror Movie Deaths - just to aggravate my family on Facebook - and Philip's was #3. Being turned into a puppet and losing control of your body is vicious enough, but those other traumatised kids watching helplessly and screaming was what ended me. 💔
Heather Langenkamp was my favorite character on the Nightmare on Elm St and she did an amazing job playing Nancy Thompson. Fun Facts about the movie: 1) Jennifer Rubin Actually Stabbed Robert Englund 2)Ken Sagoes Got His Role By Cussing Out The Director 3)The Roasted Pig Was Real 4) Patricia Arquette Struggled With Her Lines 5)The Dungeon Scene Didn’t Have AC.
Nancy is THE definitive final girl. No disrespect to Jamie Lee or Neve but y'all can't top my girl Heather Langenkamp. THE standard in my book. Also sidenote: I tried the ground coffee with diet coke thing for fun... shit's fuckin' FOUL.
A fan theory is the kid who cut off his own eyelids was Jessie from part 2. Since Freddy never wanted to kill him and only use him, I can see this being where he ended and taken away and Freddy needing to go back to Elm Street again.
Phillip's "Welcome to the snake pit" may be a reference to the 1948 movie The Snake Pit. They showed it in one of my abnormal psychology classes in college, and it's a semi-autobiographical account of a woman's time at an "insane" asylum. It showcased the barbaric treatment patients experienced back then, both in the methods of treatment and the mistreatment by staff members. Some patients are sent to "the snake pit", which is where the most hopeless cases are outcast and abandoned. One of my favorite lines is when the main character muses that an asylum would make even the sanest person go mad and trap them in a pit they could never climb out of. It actually resulted in many institutional reforms across the country at the time.
FYI: Dr. Simms is Priscilla Pointer...she played Mrs. Snell in the movie "Carrie". She is Amy Irving's mother. Amy played her daughter Sue in "Carrie". Priscilla is still alive in her 90's.
I have a very vivid memory of 14 year-old me and my 2 best friends sitting on the couch holding hands and absolutely sobbing at the end of this movie! RIP Nancy 💔 Great reaction, thanks for putting it up!
Fun fact Alanda Dr. Simms is the real life mother of Amy Irving and they played mother and daughter in Carrie which you watched a few years ago. Plus Phillip is also part of Kiefer Sutherlands gang in Stand by Me. Also The Wizard Masters actor also appeared in Elvira Mistress of The Dark.
This is a truly worthy sequel I think,1 of the best in the series. Patricia always stars in a great film called Stigmata, it's worth watching and Patricia gave a great performance as always
Nancy's actress does come back in the new nightmare which is one of my favorite movies in the series and is very different from the rest of the franchise
This was my sister’s and my favourite one when we were younger, along with the first. Nancy shouldn’t have died. She is back in Wes Craven’s New Nightmare though, and looking even more beautiful in that!
The rest of the "Frederick" movies are campy in a good way. They are very entertaining. I can't wait until you see the last one in the series "Wes Craven's New Nightmare". Your favorite character Nancy returns for the final showdown.
@@selenagomezacapella Oh yes, I forgot. New Nightmare was more of the return of Wes Craven giving his official closure (or opening the door again) to his version of Freddy.
10:30 When the devil knows you... Yeah, this reunion of Freddy & Nancy is quite terrifying...and impressive given that you're seeing a PUPPET convey Freddy's hatred of her.
Heather Langenkamp starred in every Nightmare on Elm Street film that Wes Craven was involved in. The original, this film and New Nightmare (1994). Personally these three films are canon for me, they're the Freddy films that I rewatch to this day. Every other Freddy film I either didn't bother with or didn't enjoy enough to watch again. Craven was the true horror genius and, when he wasn't involved, the attempts to imitate his work didn't impress me.
I remember that rumor. He’s actually just a character in the film because he appears in the dream sequence in Freddy vs Jason when Freddy possesses Freeburg. The patient is seen with bloody eyes taped with bandages.
AGHHHH, I’ve been waiting for this reaction forever. I haven’t watched yet play but I will after I finish typing this comment and I just know you will SERVE commentary.
The first one was by far the best. It was dark and serious and violent. This one is good but it's more "fun", it's more like a movie for MTV, for teens who just wanna have a good time. It's the movie that turned Freddy into a joker. The first one was the real deal.
It was devastating i know. I cried when i saw it. But she is back in new nightmare directed by the legendary Wes craven. Please see it. It’s so good she plays her real self!!! It’s brilliant!!! Elm street 3 is literally perfect.
Did you notice that Dr. Simms was played by Priscilla Pointer who also played Sue’s mother from Carrie? You had a double feature and didn’t even know it.
Fun fact, their was a song made for this Nightmare on Elms Street. It’s called Dream Warriors by the rock band Dokken. They even made a music video with Freddy in it. It’s on RU-vid if you wanna have a look see.
@@justindenney-hall5875 The song Dream Warriors by Dokken.I could’ve swore that song is in the movie the number of times I watched it back in the day when the movie first came out.
The first Freddy one-liner that was completely improved by Robert Englund: "Welcome to Primetime bitch!" The original line of "This is it Jennifer, your big break in TV" ended just like that, but Englund improved the "Welcome to primetime, Bitch" during a take, and they kept it in.
Nancy may be gone, but the rest of them team up again for the next instalment. (And yes, those of you who are familiar with the saga already knew that, I was saying it mostly for Alanda’s benefit.)
I LOVE your channel! I just found it, and I love seeing people watch my favorite movies and reacting for the first time. I watched this arou d when it came out on VHS, because I was only 2 when it was made, but I've always loved scary movies, so I haven't been surprised by any of them since I was 2. Your channel is awesome, though, and I can't wait to watch more! And he was never known as Frederick... That would've been cool, but they only ever called him Fred or Freddy. And young Lawrence is awesome!
Just found your fabulous reactions, and several hours into the wormhole, there's this brilliance. I always wondered if the older actress who played the clueless, patronising head of the hospital was cast because 11 years prior she played Sue Snell's clueless, patronising mother in CARRIE? 😂
dream warriors FTW Factuals only!!! couldnt go wrong bringing back the OG Nancy!!! loved the concept of the group of friends banding together in the loon tunes like " listen bitch, we all the wayyyy done with this" 🔥🔥🔥❤️❤️great video , all month killing it!!! muuuuhahaha 🙋🏻👊🏻
BLACK CHRISTMAS PLEASE 1974. halloween was originally supposed to be a sequel to Black Christmas and the inspiration is definitely there. And it has nancys dad in it from Nightmare 1
As heartbroken as we all was to see Nancy die in part 3 we still have Wes Cravens New Nightmare !!! You should really watch that next Alanda cause if you love Nancy then you’re sure as hell gonna love this!!!
I think, when I was growing up, Joey was the character I liked in this movie the most because I was also a quiet kid. Then he let out that scream and saved everybody. 😀 Looking back now, I kinda wonder what happened to him in his dream that made him completely stop talking before this movie. 🤔 Like he was literally AFRAID to talk.
This is my favorite of them. Nice balance of the original's horror and the jokester type character Freddy became in later movies. Adds a little more lore to the tale Nice boobage sneak-in at 21 minutes.
It's rare that I think any film other than the first is the best of a franchise, but Dream Warriors is probably the best Nightmare on Elm Street movie. It has so much going for it: a more mature Nancy, the likable male psychiatrist, the entertaining group of teen characters, a young Laurence Fishburne, the twist with the nun, and all the cool dream effects...and of course Robert Englund having his most fun of the series with all the puns.
You have no idea how happy it makes me that you’re A) seeing the first horror movie I ever watched (I was 5) B) seeing one of the best sequels ever and the best Nightmare sequel and C) one of the best horror movies ever. Sometimes I even like this better than part one. In short: yaaaaas!!
