"Once you're at rock bottom,the only place to go is up" is what people usually say in situations like this. Seems like you're tilted at 30:30, gotta stop donating money to greg's table and try to build yourself back up. Favorite vlog series, and I hope it gets better from here

I’m not sure you’re allowed to say run bad after some of these hands. 1/2 and 1/3 is about making a hand and getting paid. You’re forcing it way too much instead of being patient and you’re paying the price
@toddfromwork8931
@toddfromwork8931 23 дня назад
You'll turn it around but if I were you, I would make fewer thin value calls and bluff catchers at 1/3 games. People play pretty transparently at that level. You're leveling people who don't need leveling imo. You've seen how some of these clowns play. You think they're 3rd or 4th level thinking at the table? Bruh they're thinking about the next time the drink girl is coming around. Most of the time 1/3 is just folding until you make hands, then getting paid off by people who don't know better. I'm rooting for you man
@trulygxld6885

Being used to $2-$5 then trying to play $1-$3 isn’t as easy as you’d think.. most of them don’t know what their doing so you kinda have to play the simplest strategy, raise when you have it and fold when you don’t.. bluffs are hard to get through because they’ll call you with bottom pair. On the other hand you can exploit that anytime you have a good hand. No more hero calls on big pots because 99% of the players at 1-3 are never bluffing with a turn or river bet
@TheNow_Now

yeah the check-call, check-call, donk lead for pot on a four flush board is effectively never a bluff lmao. they are not turning QJo/JTo into a bluff, ever, ever, ever. low stakes, can just over-fold to big bets on rivers

The nut heart flush losing to a full house on the river was a truly bad beat. But calling down a big river bet with a 4-spade board and only the 5 of spades in hand...that's on you, as you're going to lose that hand at showdown too often to make calling profitable. Also, the AKs hand was a fold against 2 effective shoves. Big respect for showing the rough hands and all you're trying to accomplish!

22:05 when you isolate a wide range to 7bb and get a couple of callers and then UTG 3bets 2.5x to $50. When you call because of Pot odds, it usually isn't going to go well against a 3% 3bet range. You will have a 2 SPR against a nitty range. It's more or less playing bingo. I think this is one of the top 5 reasons these low stake players lose so much money. If you check wizard on what to do when you use a 5-7x open and face a small 3bet 2.5x most of the range is still folding because the SPR is so low! I'm rooting for you on this journey, I have watched every episode so far. I think this K4s hand is forced aggression due to off the table financial pressure. I've been there many times before. Off the table events impacts the way you play on the table a bit too often. Best of luck!

Can make a solid af player feel like a total donk at times. The hardest thing I have is preventing the tilt monster from coming out in these sessions. Only takes 1 butchered hand to double a loss for a session. Appreciate you sharing the good and bad Sam, you're extremely good NLH player mate you'll be back to crushing in no time. Best wishes!!

You are definitely very good and can run up this challenge no problem! After seeing the limited hands we have been shown at Greg's home game, it seems like they play similar to 1/2 or 1/3 ... Essentially the "they are NEVER bluffing" stakes. Maybe you need to approach that game tighter than how you normally play your 2/5 game and bluff less? Anyways keep it up, you got this, and I'll keep watching and learning!

@devonherron9935
@devonherron9935 23 дня назад
One thing I would point out is that in my experience at the lowest levels players dont fight aggression with aggression very often. When you have been showing strength throughout the hand and someone else takes an aggressive stance/the betting lead away they almost always have it. The times when someone tends to bluff is when they already have the betting lead or the hero has checked to them or checked back the flop. Might be different in the games you’re playing though. 🤷‍♂️
@toddfromwork8931
@toddfromwork8931 23 дня назад
Well said. You can give them opportunities to stab and call them thin with your bluff catchers, but to be making thin value calls like this at 1/3 is a huge mistake. They're betting or raising aggressively to get money in the pot, not to take momentum away.

This is gonna sound mean but it’s actually meant constructively… You are a good YT content creator; you know your poker theory; you are a horrible player! Reasons: 1) You call down far too often at lower limits where people are almost never bluffing; 2) You try to play like a LAG (which does work at low limits) but you don’t have the bankroll to support that type of play; 3) You are getting destroyed at games where you can’t possible beat the rake; and 4) You are literally playing for rent money! That’s four huge leaks with a lifestyle that can’t possible support it (ie no job, taking cash advances on credit cards). You won’t even be a winning player much less get to $2 million. What is going well is your YT videos. So if you somehow get a huge audience that just wants to see you lose, that could be something. But I doubt you want that… Wish you the best of luck, but you gotta play smarter. Now go get em!

I'm always shifting my focus from poker to day/intraday trading forex. Both require systematic play, and are probabilistic, so there are definitely down swings with both. I always wonder if I should just stick with one. Poker has better returns but wilder swings, and it's got more responsive feedback for my goldfish brain, but trading has more consistent but conservative gains and less guessing. Hm. I don't think there's a right answer

They don't care about your challenge but they are happy to take your money. I think you also don't take it seriously because sub consciously in your mind its a micro stakes game and the money doesn't matter. You are used to bigger stakes. Sam I hate to break it to you but your not in a downswing. From what I'm seeing your not making the adjustments from playing 2/5 or higher with multiple buys ins. Your mindset and playstyle has to be different when you go down to 1/3 and microstakes with money you can't afford to lose. When you play at those stakes your odds of winning are about the same as playing blackjack in a casino regardless of how good you are. In fact I actually believe good poker players actually have a disadvantage at those stakes and your compounding that by playing with semi-scared money. If you are truly playing with limited funds you need to stop "playing" poker and you need to start grinding.

Last time I played poker was in Vegas at South Point. Things have changed the last few years in live poker. The minimum tournament buyin is about $100 at least these days. Competition is TOUGH at these low stakes because of the guarantees, which is a little nutty but that's just how it goes. You get more nits at 1/2 than 2/5 I've heard, similarly you get more tight play at the lower stake tourneys cuz these guys are probably on their last bullets 😂 I fired 3 buyins at various daily tourneys and the best one is their earliest 10am or whatever cuz it's the biggest GTD. Of course I ran deep but didn't cash 😢

Unfortunately I think you need that job to have a steady flow of income, even if the next few sessions go well your not bankrolled for it, which can put you back out of the game. Accumulating debt that you may not be able to pay back also not wise. My advice would be get that job, find a cheaper place to live, use the extra cash to build a bankroll put in more study. I dislike my job but am doing the same thing although it’s slower.. good luck.

I think I missed the explanation for this series. Is this some weird challenge? Why would you want to live week to week with no money? Seems strange

You think about yourself. I'm a good player. I play like a pro. But you're not good enough for professional poker. These are the facts.

You called a limp raise with K4s.... yeah, you deserved to get stacked there. In small stakes a limp raise is always a premium. Just fold for $30 more. Just fold if it's a min raise. JUST FOLD! Also. When you're facing really bad players like these guys. Stop over thinking hands and ranges in GTO terms. They don't fucking apply. I've gotten into MANY arguments about this because I play mostly 1/2 in a room FULL of bad players. You never expect villain to have AJo on that board and to hero call your turn bet. But I promise you bad players are just that dumb. They will make that call and then bitch and moan when the 4th spade doesn't hit. But act like they're a poker genius when it does. So start thinking in the terms of "would my opponent have called my turn bet with the naked As? Yes they would. It's a fold." I know in higher limit games like 5-10 and up you'll get exploited by thinking that way But 1-2 and 1-3 you'll be the exploiting by folding. Also I recommend checking back if checked to on that river. Because they will also call your turn bet with a naked As hoping to check raise. It sucks ass when you check back and see they had 2p. But I promise you you're going to get called by so many better flushes there. I've seen people call an all in with the 9 high flush just because they had top pair. Called all the way down. Make a flush on the river. Then call an all in just because they had a flush and can't let go. My advice. Play TAG. Pile in stacks when you're really strong. You'll get looked up a lot by these bad players. Fold a lot more than you're used too. You will have less variance but your wins will be smaller. But I'll take consistent $200 wins over $2000 wins followed up by a few -$1000 losses in a row. My sessions run like this. +210, +245, +140, +380, -500, +170, +200, -240, +700, +330, +80, -600, -250, +300. It's not the best. But it's consistent and I don't usually face big down swings.

I assume this is real and that you are actually this broke. There is a chance this is just content and you have plenty of money. If it is real you are playing way too wide as a person in poverty! King 4 of hearts, 5 4 of spades, what? You have to be an absolute NIT for 6 to 12 months or until you get back to 50 buy-ins or so. After that play like you want. You seem too intellect to be playing this loose. I understand younger people think they know better maybe you do but there is plenty of older people that have way more than 10,000 hours in that might can offer some sound advise. It is very entertaining watching the TRAIN WRECK. Obviously do what you want, Good luck to you.
