I would take Heckingbottom at Sunderland 100% would love to see us appoint Hecky as our new head coach. He did a fantastic job in my opinion for Sheffield United and was sold down the river by Prince Abdullah last but overall Paul did very well to get Sheffield United back into the premier league and played good football in the championship

Blades Fan. It's typical Sheffield United ... never had much in the way of ambition if any ambition at all, I've followed United from a very young age from the First Division ( the now Premier League ) right down to the old Fourth Division and back to the First Division come Premiere. For all the exciting promotions won down the years relegations soon follow and it's back to Square One. We've had our chances but have always missed our chance through the lack of ambition at the top. Big change is needed to take the club forwards not backwards. ⚔️

Paul did brilliantly for us for two seasons but why were we playing aimless long balls up to a midget up front which was either Traore or Archer (mostly archer) for the entire first four months of this season when anyone could see it wasn't working from the opening game against Palace? The players we've got are poor but the tactics were archaic and wouldn't work in league two. Our fans just blaming the board for everything somehow can't see that keeping two players who wanted to leave last summer would've been pointless as it only ends one way if you don't let them go. It's embarrassing that people think Berge's a massive loss when he was shite for us in the premier league as part of a better team before, was up and down in the championship and has done nothing unsurprisingly to me at Burnley because he's a championship plodder at best who thinks he's better than what he actually is. Pundits raving about him saying he was a top player clearly haven't watched him turn up when he feels like it for three and a bit seasons like I have who goes regularly home and away. On his day he was unplayable but that was nowhere near enough to justify the fee we massively overspent on him. Can only run when he's darting with the ball into the box and he's a passenger when we didn't have the ball as he contributes nothing defensively. Can't jump or tackle either despite being a unit of a man and it was embarrassing how often he got knocked off the ball by players half his size. We should've sold him in January last season for a massive fee instead of keeping him as Doyle and McAtee got us up last season in midfield carrying him. Anytime we played a midfield with big fast units Berge was lost until the loanees came in. Players ran off him all the time and he's very lazy. Plenty of players last season were more consistent and worked a lot harder but the Norwegian carthorse would've made all the difference for us this season apparently. There's no guarantee that Ndiaye would've been able to make the step up to the premier league on a consistent basis either.

He was thrown under the bus before the season started budget was laughable someone wants to ask the prince where’s all the cash gone Premier league parachute payments. And wilder pulling trees up 🤣
@sammybeck4855
@sammybeck4855 7 месяцев назад
@@fishermansid8861Wilder's not good enough either. Board will never kick us on but neither wilder or hecky would do anything at any other premier club even if the owners are better. They're championship level managers which is fine
@sammybeck4855
@sammybeck4855 7 месяцев назад
@@fishermansid8861I never wanted wilder back and think we need a complete rebuild which should've happened when we went down last time around before Hecky came back. Need a complete overhaul of the coaching staff and the players
@cg7025
@cg7025 7 месяцев назад
Did you hear what he said about the quality of players we were up against and what that meant for our squad and team having to sit deep and defend due to not having the quality at our disposal to match teams? That meant we were under pressure and trying to nick a goal on the counter...hence the long balls. It wasnt an error on PH's part...just the lack of quality in the squad as a whole......going into a gunfight with a water pistol. If you want to blame someone look no further than the Clown Prince.
@sammybeck4855
@sammybeck4855 7 месяцев назад
@@cg7025But just sitting back stringing two or three passes together then giving it back to the opposition and then just retreating deeper and deeper will never work either. Best football we've played this season under Hecky before he left was the second half against Wolves where we came out and were pressing higher up the pitch and we completely suffocated a good side that couldn't cope with us that half. Same with that little spell at villa where subs came on and we started taking players on and whipping crosses in it was brilliant after we'd been shite the rest of the game just clinging on against villa for dear life doing nothing. Played well against west ham and on Sunday by getting on the front foot. This idea that we have to play a certain way is nonsense as the few occasions we've been brave on the ball have been our best performances of the season by a mile. Board are mostly to blame aswell as the players but Hecky would do nothing at any other premier league club imo. Still did very well for us overall but I don't think he's a premier league level manager.

He does have a better points record in fairness, but if you think there was any chance of turning things around, you haven’t really followed what’s been going on at Sheffield United. He’s been brought in to help the summer rebuild (with the hope that he gets it right like he did in League One after completely overhauling our squad). Guardiola, Mourinho, Klopp etc. wouldn’t have turned it around this season.

I hope these pundits who keep banging on about how bad the Blades are listen to some of this. How can a team in financial trouble, selling their best players etc ever have a hope. This is as much down to the financial realities of football as to anything else. The game is broken - and unless you're a glory hunting fan, you're screwed.

Did a great job under the circumstances. Not much he could do recruitment wise, nor the timeframe or lack thereof where players leaving and the start of the season were concerned. Shame he couldn't find that lift, and build a team spirit. Sometimes it does come down to simple things like players getting fed up of the same voice or ideas which they don't believe in.

It was all our owner & his cronies fault as they let all out top players go, because our owner wasn't able to put more money in our club as he was skint& he was bang out of order to give Hecky the push because of their fault with not financially backing us,just like they got rid of Wilder it was unnecessary, all the heartache our owner caused to staff players & supporters,it makes me wonder weather this owner was scrutinised thoroughly by the F.A. because the F.A. couldn't care a dam about S.U.F.C. & they have prooved this many times with allways backing southern clubs & not Yorkshire clubs we have all been treated like muck under their shoes,& it's about time our supporters & our clubs challenged them about this issue, or thing will never change, I will even stick my neck out & say they are worse than Seth Blatter!

Not many supporters of Sheffield United who would disagree with anything Paul said. We all wanted him to succeed and appreciate what he did last season, we needed to change the manager to try and lift the players and give them belief that things could change, but the failure this season is down to recruitment and finances. With Iliman and Berge, considering how low the points totals are at the bottom, we would’ve had a genuine chance. For us, Iliman represented 10+ extra points, he was that important to us. Our Grealish when Villa we’re struggling, Toney for Brentford etc. and we sold him on the cheap. It hasn’t helped his career moving abroad and playing out of position either. Hamer coming in is still a sensible move from the club long term instead of Berge, so there’s some sense there, but we were never going to replace Iliman. Add to that the loss of Sharp as captain, Egan to injury, Basham in the way he was injured, Tommy Doyle going to Wolves, Brewster continuing to have setbacks, Jebbison not playing a game all season, Lowe, RND, Baldock and McBurnie missing the majority of our games, and we’ve had no chance. Everything that could’ve gone wrong has gone wrong; all the above fails to mention the profound loss of Maddy Cusack after the Tottenham loss and just before the Newcastle thumping at home, the feel around the club has been horrendous since that event. Wilder will get things in order in the summer and rebuild the squad, but it may be a case of building for the 2025/26 season rather than bouncing straight back.
