I really appreciate the lengths you go through to make sure you treat your customers right. When my wife and i are ready to take the leap into the RV life I plan on making the trip from Burlington KY down to you first.
This is why you buy from a reputable dealer. I am getting ready to jump back into the RV lifestyle. I originally saw Doug on another channel and followed him here. Anyhow, I was speaking with a good client of mine earlier this week and RV’ing came up. He mentioned that he was looking to buy a class A in the very near future. What he is looking for is right in Doug’s wheelhouse. I told the client the best thing to do was to reach out to Doug. This just reaffirms why I referred such a valuable client to Doug!!!
Our 2003 Newmar Dutch Star DP developed a bubble beside the rear a/c. We bought it in 2016 w/45k miles on it. I noticed the bubble the first time on the roof (the inspector I hired didn't notice it.) In 2019 it had gotten a little larger. My intention was to cut a flap 18"x 18" and fold it back and reglue it down but that wasn't all. The wood underneath sounded crunchy when you walked on it. Turns out the a/c mounting bolts(which are on the outside of the a/c mounting gasket), had been leaking(ducted a/c). I thought all a/c mounting bolts were on the inside of the gaskets. The bolts in the front of the unit had been leaking and the front a/c had a very small leak as well. The condition of the roof other than that was perfect. I ended up replacing all the plywood decking with 1/2"(15/32) ply and the standard tpo fleeced back membrane I got everything else from Newmar and I removed everything by myself (my wife help me roll out the decking and the glue. Started late 2019 and finished just in time early 2020 to see all the campgrounds shut down for COVID. My great timing. It's been 4 years and so far everything is fine. Looking back, I wish I had just replaced the 1 bad piece of plywood that was damaged, sanded of what fuss stuck to the ply(wasn't that much). I cut the old top in about 6-12" wide strips and pulled it right up and most of the fleece came with it. 540 screws hold down the termination bars. I been watching James for quite a while and look forward to watching yours. Safe travels.
Thanks for sharing even the ugly side of things. I always get a good vibe from you on your videos. I would love to see the follow up on the roof with pics and videos of the process. Like you said, it doesn't seem like a technically challenging process. But removal of all of the equipment, removal of the old sealant and all of those screws, removal of the top and underlayment (plywood I guess), replacement of the underlayment and top membrane, and reinstallation of the old equipment is a huge amount of work. I'd love to see the progress videos on this one. I'll stay tuned.....
Just had roof repair completed on our Wanderlodge. Yes, even a riveted aluminum roof needs repair if it's 18 years old. Great video Doug. Thanks again Doug. I appreciate it.
I made the mistake of not getting an inspection, Now my monoco is sitting at the shop waiting on new exhaust manifold and turbo and who know what else it needs.
Excellent, this is what I like about doing business with family owned RV dealerships. You guys do the right things no matter what and James is top of his class. Better Days
Great job Doug! This video, along with your others, continues to add to my confidence that Pam and I made the correct choice in buying from Sewell Motorcoach! We continue to enjoy our Tiffin, and will be headed out even more in 2024. Keep up the great work, and tell Robbie and the rest of your team we said hello!
Once I get to the point to buy, Sewel Motor Coach will be the place. Looking good you two. I totally admire the way Doug stands behind his products. Doug and James are a great couple. Smart move on Doug's part.
@@Sewellmotorcoach It will need replacement in 15 years max and they leak along the way. I've seen fiberglass and metal roof RVs in N America and New Zealand that are over 50 years old and they have kept the rig in perfect condition.
Unfortunately I am left holding the bag on this one. Just my luck🤣🤣 Don’t fell bad for me! Just like a share and maybe I will get a few bucks from RU-vid. Maybe Newmar might see this and step up with a partial payment to help out.
I'd be curious if Newmar would do anything. I had a Mountain Aire that had roof issues when it was out of warranty.....I paid for all the parts they provided all the labor free of charge ....but that was 10 plus years ago.....things were different then. Nice to see people do the "the right thing"
I am pretty picky with my rigs and I actually like the felt back TPO roofs if you take care of them they can look like brand new 20 years later, but I’ve seen that issue before and honestly I would have probably left it… if everything is sealed good and it doesn’t get worse what is the problem?
You will see in upcoming video. The entire front half of the coach was released from the decking and was really bad. We have seen the minor bubbling before but this was really bad. Stay tuned!
@@Sewellmotorcoach ahh okay it looked minor from what I saw but clearly the video didn’t show it all… I was thinking it was just the minor bubbling… looking forward to seeing it!
I've worked on roofs on Westfield shopping centers and CVS stores and have watched guys install TPO roofs One of those guys could cut out hump and repair that with a machine that melts it together, I've seen low spots with a seam and standing water on it with no prob.
Great new videos you have been posting. I've talked to Doug before as well as another well known RU-vid broker in Bradenton. Doug is way more transparent, upfront and honest to deal with than any other broker I have dealt with.
I’ve owned a U320 before and those bulkheads do need to be checked. The slide attachment points need to be check for corrosion as well. I do look forward to seeing that video.
This is why you are my first choice when I’m serious about purchasing a used DP’er! Excellent customer service and and a standup guy! Quick question, that wasn’t a water leak failure, but an adhesive failure? No water damage inside?
