Do you ever put something together just to end up taking it apart? Well, that's exactly what we did with our window frames and surrounding shiplap. We noticed a few potential issues and decided we should fix it now and do it right. (Part 1 of 2)
Follow along on our journey while we build out a van, travel the world and Encompass Adventure!!

I know we all joke "safety second" but here is a tip that might save you some regret one day. Set your table saw blade depth 1/8" thicker than your material. If your hand does ever slip over the blade, you will need stiches or re- attachment, you choice!

I like how Shelby closes her eyes every time the nailer is used.

Hahaha you noticed. The nail gun is my least favorite tool sometimes. I'm always scared a nail is going to go through the van or through a hand. But if you think my reaction is bad, you should see Drogo's every time he even sees the air compressor. 😅

What kind of plywood and thickness did you use for the window frame back piece? Do you think just about any type would work?

Hi Davis! For the ring/backboard we used 5mm birch plywood. We already had it on hand, leftover from a different project but wanted to make sure we used the thinnest wood we had. You could use quarter inch or thicker but the the thicker the wood, the less flexible it is and the more it will make the frame stick out from the van, so it's personal preference there. 😊 For the actual frame we used 1x4 primed pine and trimmed it to size and for the shiplap, we used blue pine siding all from Home Depot. Hope this helps!

Haha I guess we could have but we used that under the floor a little and it was a pain in the butt! Probably user error. Thanks for watching Chad!! 😁
