We raised 5 sons and going to a buffet was well worth it. Now they’re grown and though I would love to go to a buffet I just can’t eat enough to make it worth the cost. 🥺

In our neighborhood, welcome. We were at the Quarryville Agway for horse feed on 9/1.. The Shady Maple is a "Birthday" staple around here, you get a free meal for your birthday and the gift shop is epic. Enjoy !!!

As soon as you said PA and buffet I knew it was the Shady Maple. The gift shop downstairs is nice but we would literally starve ourselves all day then go there 😂. Those 3D “paintings” on the walls of Amish life are wild to see.

Loved the food coma after the buffet Izzy. Great fun with MJ and Jason before school starts. Looked like Jason was going for seconds after that full plate. Teenager appetites, our boys seemed to never be full. Great video. 🤙

Noticed your engine revving up, take a look at "5-Star Tune"; it changes shifting patterns on your transmission. I did it on an older V-10 rig I owned (Canyon Star), and it made a big difference in the the driving experience. Cost was about $500 and the programing change is made through your OMB port.

I went to Lancaster, Pa in the late 60's early 70's. I have very good memories. The wife and I planned to go 2 years ago but covid happened. Now we have our first grand baby and our world is forever changed. We will get there eventually. Looking forward to the cg review.

It’s really wonderful to see you all having fun and enjoying yourselves. I’m going to have to explore the Lancaster area and beyond as I haven’t been there since I was a child. I do remember the Amish community and those memories have stayed with me throughout my life. Thank you for letting us peek at your weekend of fun and I’m so looking forward to meeting up with you guys one day soon. I’m starting to get really excited about our move to America it’s just the packing up that bothers me the most 😬 I hope the electrics have been resuscitated permanently 🤞💫

I lived in Downingtown, PA a long time ago and really enjoyed the area. Love the Amish and their choice of names for the communities! We plan on going back in our motorhome in the next few years.

I recognized this place immediately. I stayed there twice several years ago. I was born about 25 miles south of this area. Would love to visit again I still have family in the area.

We go to Lancaster County ALL the time. Our favorite campground is Starlite outside of Denver. Reserve far in advance and ask to be on the ‘Plateau’ overlooking the valley. It’s gorgeous and makes for a great fire to look at the stars. We especially enjoy Shady Maples breakfast buffet. Not as crowded and fun to sit awhile.🙌

One of the best buffets ever is in kidron Ohio. It’s Amish country Amish kitchen!, I think the breakfast bar is the best . Go during auction week . It’s down right delightfull . Looking forward to Hershey see ya their

Love your son sharing the adventure! All your travels are worth this minute! Izzy and MJ, I think you are sharing the the trip/travel and education with your son! I was 4 or 5 and traveled from Cleveland , Ohio to Riverside, California. I remember that water cost money, but 7 UP was free! There was no air conditioning in our 1954 Mercury Monterray in Arizona, the engine blew, and we we were in a hotel in the 100 plus degree heat, until my parents bought a 1957 Mercury Station Wagon! This had no air conditioning, we drove back from California with in this 57 Mercury station Wagon, ended up in Pittsburgh , PA. Dad worked in the steel pickle factory is what I was told! Problem was when he came home from work, he had acid burns on his body, and on his uniforms!

I love the Lancaster area. So much to do and see. Buffets are my weakness. I don't mind paying the price because I figure if I had to buy all the different things that I try it would cost so much more. I also know some buffets allow take out, so you don't have to eat it all at once. Glad you had a great time.

This area is known for it's good food, snacks and tax free clothes shopping. Try the awesome pretzels from Unique, snyders and UTZ. Chips from Martins and Bickels. Great woopie pies and shoe fly pies.

The views are beautiful, sounds like a wonderful family trip. The buffet looks massive, I don't think I would feel well after 🤪I'm not a fan of buffets, Pierre would love it and feel exactly like Izzy in the end😊

When in the Lancaster area, I always make a point of stopping at the ' Dutch Haven ' bakery , to get a " Shoo Fly Pie ". The Strasburg Railroad and the Rough and Tumble Steam Threshermen's Museum is also a must if you like mechanical machinery ( Steam Tractors and Passenger trains pulled by restored steam locomotives )......

You should try out 6 flags Darien lake In western NY. We have spent the summer there work camping. If you want peaceful don’t come on a concert weekend. Hope to see you at Hershey.

I lived and worked in the Lancaster PA area. Loved Shady Maple, but as a local we didn't go very often. BREAKFAST!! Is the Best buffet! Great choice for your trip. Farmer's markets in the area, Harvest Hosts in the area too! Many of those are farms.

We're from Jersey too (lived in Morris Co 20+ yrs, now back in SJ). Lancaster area is our "go to" getaway for long weekends. Too familiar with Shady Maple...ugh! We go to Green Dragon farmer's market near Denver on Thurs nite and dry camp, have breakfast in one of the buildings (baked oatmeal!), wander around the inside and outside vendors (usually find neat stuff and Amish goodies to buy), pick up sausage on a bun for lunch, then head over to Hickory Run campground for chillin' and campfires til we head home Sunday. We've been doing this for at least 15 yrs, usually every spring and fall. Since our daughter and her family moved to the Hershey area almost 10 yrs ago our "PA getaway" area has expanded. We really love it out there! So we both agree that the Lancaster-Hershey area is where we want to retire when we're able to leave Jersey.

I lived in York, PA for one year at age 16. I learned that there is no “d” in Lancaster. Lol Did you drive through Bird in Hand, PA? How about Paradise or Intercourse, PA?? Gotta love the Dutch Amish. As you know they are very established in Nappanee where Nellie and our Nina were made.

We went to Shady Maple a couple of times several years ago when I was working a contract in the area. Loved it. Cant do buffets anymore since my wife and I had stomach surgery but the tradeoff has been worth it.

Yes they have a great selection of food. I ate there in Sep 2021. We stayed just down the road at the Lancaster KOA. We have been to that area several times. The Country Acres Campground is nice to. Something else to look at is there are lots of markets in the area.

I've camped at the Yogi Bear Jellystone Campground in Quarryvile probably 7-8 times.. Love the facility, the management, the area. They've continously improved the campground/facilities over the years. Check out the Strasborg area as there's a lot to see & do.

We’ve camped in landcaster many times. Love the area, wife is a quilter so she gets lost int the quilt shops. There’s a really nice classic car museum nearby where I spend my time.

The old man in our morning coffee group talks about the shady maple Buffett all the time and he hasn't been there in years! We live about 4 hours away. Nice to see the place really does exist! Can't wait to show him the video tomorrow morning. But of course the means I'll hear the same stories about it I've heard a 100 times. Lol

Love the Lancaster area of PA! We use to take our kids there back in the day! If they are still around, next time, go to Miller’s and or penny feathers Resturaunts, be sure to eat the shoofly pie!

We are from Lancaster. Went to Shady Maple often. Lancaster has the best food! All of the farms. Living in Alaska now. Really miss the food for sure.

The wife and I have spent lots of time exploring the Lancaster PA area. Did you say what place you ate at? We ate at Shady Maple a couple of times. Yoders was pretty good as well. Both are close to Blue Ball. We rode the Reading Railroad, I'm a train nut, then got a T-shirt that said, "I went to Paradise through Intercourse." Ya gotta love the names of towns in parts of PA.

I know exactly where you guys were. I used to go by the turn off for that campground on my way to one of my stops. We live in Elizabethtown west of Lancaster. Of course, we know the area.

Been there ...done that, both places. Glad you had a good time. It's our neck of the woods. So much to do around here. Next time take a train ride on the Strasburg RR. BTW when you are in Hershey in a couple weeks you might want to check out a little known attraction, the PA State Police Museum. Have fun.

So many great things to see in that area if you're planning on staying longer. Sometimes getting back to a basic camping weekend is the best. Oh and the food in that whole area is amazing. Hope you get to come back. (not really too far from the Hershey Show, wink wink) .
