According to the wiki, Pets offer certain buffs, Pet Aphids reduce stamina drain while running, Pet Gnats increase glide speed with the Dandelion Tuft, and Pet Weevils reduce thirst rate. You can also armor them for slightly better protection. All in all they do have a use.

When you run out of the type of arrow you’re using it automatically switches to other ammunition, so as Simon incidents go the gas arrow is pretty understandable.

The aphid's can be made to stay at the base and if you fence them in and feed them they will produce aphid honey dew so you have an unlimited supply of it.

I’d make a joke about that aphid being “bug brained” but insect brain neural response times and body to brain size ratio in many species are nearly comparable to our own, and in some ways can be considered far superior… so, they may only have hundreds of thousands or a few million neurons, but they make them count!

Neebs think about it. Clay is soft and squishy when wet, but when dried it becomes very hard. Fungus like mushrooms work the same way. Dry them out and they are relatively strong. Considering your size and the threats against you, it should provide significant protection compared to grass.

When you run out of normal arrows, the game automatically makes you equip other arrows in your inventory. He didn't even know it was a gas arrow when he shot it because he was using normal arrows originally :3

Probably should have got the oven first before pets. Need to make bricks for the pet houses. You'll need the super chip from the haze lab, and then go to the upper yard to get the evercoal chunk. You'll need antlion armor to harvest it though, so you'll need to hunt in the sand box for a bit.

Aphids pets give you reduced food/thirst drain and can be used for extra storage. To keep them from following you need to build a pet house and make them stay near it. All pets (ACTUAL Gnats, aphids, weevils) all give small bonuses. Also mushroom bricks are better than grass. Something I would highly recommend doing is finding weapons/armor that fit your playstyle you’re very close to upper yard where most of your time is being spent, you’re on an easier difficulty so it’s not too bad but you WILL want to suit yourselves up accordingly and upgrade or you’ll be gatekeeped from progressing by the early upperyard enemies

They still have two labs to complete before they can do anything significant in the upper yard. Under shed, stump lab, castle all require the assistant manager keycard from the black ant lab.

I googled grounded pets: Grounded pets can be tamed by building a special pet house, then using a Grinder to create either mushroom, spoiled meat or plant slurry, depending on if it's an Aphid, Gnat or Weevil. Then you simply feed the pet the correct slurry, and if you have a house to keep it in, you can store it there.

Those little guys get killed by everything. But they do have a little storage to help carry a few extra stuff. Not sure how effective the helmets are in protecting them, though. I only tamed an Aphid

Pet houses are really useful for making Fools stay 😂 and also naming them And if you can get a gnat they are one of the more "durable" pets as wheevils and aphids are common foods for a few other insects

I strongly recommend saving your Molars for 5 Mutations. There's also a new easy to select Mutation Load Out update, meaning you can pre-set 4 different sets of Mutations to easily switch between ✨[Right] on D-Pad. I rarely changed my Mutations before the Load Out update. I just set them to 5 good ones and left it. With the Load Out update now, it is really nice to quickly press a button and know I am now suited for Exploring or the specific combat I am in (Spider / Slashing / Stabbing)

Btw, there are new superduper disks in the hedge, pond, and haze labs, due to the new update. They unlock the replicator in the oak lab. You'll be able to replicate any item using raw science.

Now that you have a pet, all you need now is a pet house. And I suggest giving goggles to make it easier to tell them apart from their wild counterparts. Also, I have never heard of a Handy Gnat before. Where and how did you get one of those? I am pretty sure you tame those with spoiled meat.
