You should collaborate with Evan&Kaitlyn! They made a greensphere for Joob awhile back. I’d like to see y’all make a whole new concept. Maybe they add resin, and you add a new design!
For future paper machete projects, MANY more layers of smaller pieces of paper/bag and orient them in opposite directions. One later vertical, one horizontal, one diagonal.
If you ever do this again, I'd recommend a trim of wood at the bottom and face holes and a small circle of wood at the stem. That way you can staple the rope down in addition to gluing it. Cats exert a lot of force on the ropes when they scratch on them and with just glue, I suspect he will derobe that pumpkin fairly quickly. It is a beautiful project and I hope you do this again at some point and practice with the structural integrity.
I am SO surprised by how well that came out. I would never imagine that a face made of sisal rope could look anything but awful. But man, the final product looks FANTASTIC. Y'all did great work. Glad to see you back! I'm so looking forward to the coming season!
nice concept. paper mache needs a lot of layering though. my cosplay sword sheaths are 12 layers of paper mache (with 3 alternating orientations) with fiberglass mesh every 4 layers. and they're still wobbly as heck. a cat house of 2 layers (before resin) won't even hold the weight of a kitten. i'd have advised 30 layers at the minimum for the pumpkin
in my experience if you use flour + water as your glue you dont have to do so many layers. ive done several projects in 2 layers and its very sturdy, the only downside is that its harder to get smooth
And a thing we learned in the art subject at school: use small pieces of paper not large patches. When we made heads for some prop scarecrows we use max 3x5cm newspaper pieces and at least let them overlap by half the size. And then 10 layers or so. Super tideous but super sturdy too.
It's looks amazing! I personally would have used a flour and food grade colouring based paint/dye and cardboard/paper mache/flour as opposed to epoxy resin because it could cause toxicity if accidentally ingested or cause allergies as the cat scratches on it.
So true!!! I feel like it’s kinda irresponsible when big channels like this just “wing” a project like this intended for pets. They’re literally like babies!! My kitten eating anything loose and goes hard on his scratching posts, I doubt this will last a year with everyday kitty use :(

Awesome tutorial! Thanks! For anyone trying this at home, important tip/reminder: make it a few inches bigger than you need to. In my experience, papier mache shrinks. This turned out awesome! I'm going to make mine with a furry soft pet bed inside.
Sisal = scratching post in my house. It would be destroyed in a day. Especially with my 4 year old energetic kitty coming at it full bore. Absolutely the cutest cat house I’ve seen though.
That is super cute. So glad the cat liked. If I spent all that time building that , I know my cat would not give it the time of day. You guys are so patient, putting all that rope on and the stem.
Idk if it's nicknames persay....But I have 4 cats. Each one is completely different from the last....But they have special names when I'm talking to them. Bandit: My Big Boy. Pumpkin: My pretty girl Sprite: My baby Hemi: My baby boy It's just how it ended up being....lol
Love the project. But I REALLY wish you would have left out that constant noisy AF "rock music" you have playing in the background. It is driving me insane. 😩
You ever see those Mexican/White metal objects they sell in Texas and stores such as HEB and roadside gas stations? I believe y’all are the people for the shake up that we need.
This might sound silly but I think if you would have put LED strip lights on the pumpkin before you put the ropes on then it would light up. Then the pumpkin with light up the rope
Oh my gosh you guys are so cute. It’s so refreshing to see a couple get along and treat each other with respect ❤️ and of course your creations are always amazing! Thank you for sharing 🎃😊
Great job. Why did you guys measure the Cat? If it's there Cat will fit in it!! when you guys were putting air in the ballon, I was waiting for it to pop!! "as she said little more air" FUN PROJECT. Hope your cat is not like mine ignore anything I buy or make for them for a month. More cat project, please.
You totally lost me when you spoke the following blasphemy: "I don't like working with clay." I'm appalled. 😂 I'm a sculptor and polymer clay and some two part epoxies are my mediums of choice. Such a shame you guys don't like clay. You'd be amazing at it!
I haven't been on the DIY side of youtube in forever!! i'm on the makeup and art side of youtube now but this is amazing! this is my first video im ever seeing of you guys (sory don't know names yet) but i loved every minute of it!! From the description of the video it seems like this channel has a bunch of different people on it but they got a sub from me bc these two! They honestly made me feel like i could really do this! Who knows, maybe one day ill try it out cause cat trees and scratching posts are so overpriced
Now I need to figure out how to make it big enough for my daughters dog now. 🤔 And please tell me you’re going to make him a Ziggy costume for Halloween
SO GREAT! I love ya'lls' and I loved E&K's. I am making one out of the box my lawnmower came in covered in soft material with a pillow inside and spot for a mini desk fan on top. It's Florida, so just in case it gets too hot for kitty in the summer.
So, I've been binging alll your Halloween vids (new subscriber here.) Where do you guys get all your shirts? I LOVE ALL of them - IF you make them, you should sell the SVGs - I would sooo buy them all!! The adorable pick t with half a skeleton AND that peter pan collar!!! To die for
This is my first of your Videos!!! You had Me AND Miss Kitty at Hello..... I want to mKe this for her. Super Cool AND I collect Pumpkins.... All around Win for Us. Kisses From California
Is it weird that I've been longing for Halloween since March of 2020 was all but cancelled on us? I saw the writing on the wall and knew we we're going to have one, at least not one anyone would enjoy... 😒 But this year will be different! I have two ideas for costumes, and would love to see your take on a quality set of wearable batwings/gargoyle wings/demon wings... 🦇
Could I make a suggestion? Combine the two steps of paper mache and resin coating into one step. Do it exactly the same only leave out the glue and use resin and leave out the paper and use fiberglass cloth. Build it up just the same way with strips and patches. Use a cheap brush to squeeze out the excess resin. Let it set up. Do two layers (maybe three.) It really is about the same but when you are through, you will have a structure the cat can play soccer with and not damage. And, you'll have a new technique that will work better for so many of your projects. Don't think too much and convince yourselves you can't,
It's very cute! But I might suggest like... coating the inside in black felt or something. Another soft layer and potential scratching surface from the inside. Though it might make it pretty warm in there. But with a sphinx cat I think that's a good thing right? :o
Oberon is cute i don't know if you know this but Oberon is the name of the king that rules Avalon in Midsummer Night's Dream buy William Shakespeare.I also like how his bed turned out
You should’ve glued some pieces of veneer or a few layers of canvas on the backside of the break, painting it with resin between layers. You actually still could if you still have the pumpkin. Great video though, may have to try it.
You could have ran the rope all the way across the bottom & that would give it a floor for inside the pumpkin. Also you could use exercise mats to cut out & reinforce the ribs for the pumpkin structure inside. I like it. I am thinking of trying to do a skull 1 for my dogs.
What fun video! You guys are so funny. Loved this project. I picked up one of those bamboo round patio chairs from the 70s for free. I removed the swivel bottom so I just had the top and flipped over it makes a good cage. I want to make a big lady bug kitty house with it but didn’t know how to proceed. You gave me some ideas so now I just need to get started. I just love the jack o lantern. Thanks for sharing
You might use an acrylic nail sculpting drill, slower than a Dremel, to remove the sharp edges of his nails. You could also use a nail file but it is very slow. He won't like it at first and should be started when he is a baby. I do not believe in declawing because cats get out and they must defend themselves. This will leave him with his claws but less sharp and help stop furniture and drapes from being destroyed.
I know I'm a year late, but maybe this'll help someone with a future paper mache project- You usually need at least 5 layers of paper mache for it to be sufficiently solid!
After the paper mache, add paper mache clay. Inside snd put. Then apply several coats of varathane.the clay and the varathane makes it hard as a rock and also waterproof. This method also works beautifully
Me, someone who knows a lil bit about using fabric dye watching them use it in not incredibly hot water: is that gonna work?? It does and throws out like everything i thought i knew
It might be unrelated, but I stumbled upon your channel just recently and watched several videos of yours, and what I like the most from your contents is how optimistic you guys are whenever you meet obstacles while creating something. It encourages and inspires me who tends to get easily discouraged by even the smallest failure. So thank you for that :) + you've earned a new subscriber!
Are resin, wood glue, and spray paint pet safe? I remember making a cage for my little hamster and I used this vinyl adhesive flooring and the poor thing up and died. I really wanna make this but I'm just curious about the inside mostly. I also know everything is more durable than hamsters but still.
Once the wood glue is dried completely it's non-toxic. Once the resin has FULLY cured it is also non-toxic. The spray paint is a different story. Most spray paints are oil based which are not recommended for animal use. I would use a water based paint instead, like latex or acrylic. Sorry to hear about your hamster 😔 unfortunately a lot of the cheaper peel and stick vinyl flooring have traces of formaldehyde in them and the adhesive itself gives off a lot of VOC fumes while its curing.
@@erinlemmon1691 It's ok it was a couple years ago I just have the guilt from it ha, but I appreciate the answer. I was thinking maybe of lining the inside with some type of cushion or fur anyway and avoiding the paint.
I’m so making one for my tiny Chihuahua. She’s not as curious as your lil critter, but am sure she’ll like it. Thanks for the video, it was a fun one to watch.
I just started watching them and omg I love them and their creativity. I have a cat her name is Stella who is black and white, I myself love crafts and projects. This made me want to make a pumpkin house for my cat. Great job on this 😎
sooooooooooo can i pay yall to make me one?!! lol serious question though....i have a room in my home that is decorated for halloween 24/7/365 and i have 4 cats....this is a NEED and i do not possess the skills to make it lol
