The ceramic tiles actually seem like a great choice. A lot of bullet proof vests will use them to absorb a lot of impact and break while still being maneuverable so using them for an arm piece like that actually seems fire

The pumps bring be back to my old hockey skates when I was playing club hockey... Reebok made pump skates... they were UNREAL...for a couple of weeks until the pump buttons both failed and because of the airbags in the skates they couldn't be properly molded to my feet. 😂
